It's an old rink, but which ones aren't? The bathrooms ARE gross. Felt like a campground. The place smelled in lots of areas. Staff is lackluster, but I can't expect much. It was pretty busy when we went but definitely still had fun. They had games that people could participate in and were good with including all age groups throughout. My only concern were the younger kids that did not have adults with them and were going the wrong direction which was dangerous for both them and other skaters-- no one really worked to prevent this (parents or workers). read more

worst service ever !!!! short blond hair lady threw away half a $220 cake !!! that was gifted to the birthday girl !!!! I was a guest and she came at me completely rude once I corrected and told her I was a hued not the host she then just said here's a ticket and that the party thrower wasn't there they can't get ahold of her , maaam yu need better customer service ! also she threw away decorations that were taken down neatly at put to the side to take home ! when asked for a cart to transport gifts she said there isn't any while she had a few available . didn't even offer 1 hand to transport items to vehicle . being that party host was told she would have a cart to move things . after she thrown cake and decorations away she then went to her manager and said the party host was throwing a fit . I don't think she realized I was standing right there and I heart all professonalism go out the window . I really enjoy this place! I love the decor ...reminds me of the old days. We have been here on a Sunday which is family day and also on Saturday. Both times were awesome. I had a wonderful time at this skating rink! It was my first time ever rollerblading and everybody was nice and very courteous. Great prices for Tuesday night (bargain day)! The only downside was the snack bar. It is lacking. Only one person was working which created confusion and it was a little pricey for snacks. I ordered a few items and upon leaving realized we never received one of them. I don't believe it was the worker's fault as it is very loud and crowded. This is a fun place to skate. I've been there on a regular family night and the music was great! The snack bar had several hot options. My bf and I decided to hit it tonight for adult night and unfortunately it was lacking. The snack bar wasn't quite ready (at 9ish pm) so we settled for a soda. But worst was the music. We recognized maybe 3 songs and ultimately ended it early due to the poor selection of music playing. Come for half off Tuesdays! $3 entrance fee, $3 to rent skates (a dollar or two more for special or nicer skates) even better if you have your own skates so you only pay $3. I love how this place is a blast from the past 70's feel to it all the way. Neon lights, some oldies music that plays, and everything pretty much is the same as it was way back when. The bathrooms are clean with doors, but you have to wash your hands outside. they take song requests so you can skate to whatever you want. They play games like four corners, have races, sing happy birthday songs, backwards skating, etc. We had a great time and even on half off Tuesdays, it wasn't that busy. I love the skate 'helpers' that help the little ones skate. They have lockers you can rent for one time for 50 cents to keep your purse, but you can keep your shoes under the 'benches'. They have video games to play and a mini pool table. I think this place was built in the 70's! To many people, this place may look shady, but I think that is them trying to keep the oldies look. I like that they have kept the same look for SO many years. They actually have drip coffee ($1), chocolate chip cookie ($1.50), a bag of microwaved popcorn, hot dogs, chips, fountain drinks, large pickles, and more. The only thing I didn't like was that they have a glow light part of the night where you need to have a glow light in order to skate. The cheapest glow light they sell is $2 so for three songs you have to have it or else you are kicked off the rink. You can buy glow products there, skates, and other toys. There are party rooms for birthdays. I really like this place and if you want to get a couple hours of skating I would highly recommend this place. It's where I learned how to skate. read more

I have been here about three times and it has been okay. I can't say that anything has really stood out for me and I really have nothing else to compare it to since I have not been to any other rollerskating place here in San Antonio. As far as roller skating rinks go this one was pretty nice. The floors have been maintained well, and the music system sounded pretty good. The house are not correct on Yelp and you will either need to call or visit their website. The whole family had a lot of fun and now I'm recovering. read more

San Antonio isn't a very roller skate/blade kinda place, so finding a rink as good as this is always welcomed! If you are in San Antonio, this I think is the best in town. I'm a newbie and they do a great job enforcing strict rules. You will never feel intimated. I like it so much I got me and my son a summer pass. The staff are very helpful and friendly. I also love their late night Saturday skates since my son can hang-out with us. This place gave my son confidence in skating that now he loves to fast skates. Most of their clientele are newbies like me. I do recommend you buy your own skates though. Very disappointed, Dont do a birthday party here! they make you pay a $75 dollar NON-REFUNDABLE deposit! Just to not do what they say they are going to do, not call back messages you leave, and then when they do answer treat you very rudely because who cares they got your money already! Customer service is at an all time low! Very upset but can't leave because I already paid money! Then when you show up for the party it's so crowded you can't even skate, kids going in all different directions! I like to come here to get some exercise skating and it's a good place for this. I like that they have an adult night on Wed. so I don't have to dodge little kids the whole time. I skated here as a child and while I found some negative reviews that focus on the decor, that's probably one of the things I love most! The same party rooms, metal benches, Xanadu-like wall lights, DJ booth, and snack bar tables are here. This is the first place my 9 and 10 year olds want to visit when we come back to town. Was a bit turned off by the "glow skate" round when you were invited to purchase glow accessories in order to skate during the 3- song round and REALLY wish they would put doors in the girls bathroom already. The roller rink has what some may call 'pot holes'. Many kept falling on the same side and I realized it was the uneven flooring, hence the pot holes. well, went there 2 weekends ago with the kiddos. it's pretty vintage looking...you know, the odd colors, the carpet, the arcade smell to it. We went bcz I had purchased a groupon voucher 2 skate rentals, admission, and 2 hotdogs for $9. not bad! We got there at 12pm adn things went pretty well. No one was rude, hot dogs were fresh ( I saw them as they were putting them on the roaster). The only 2 things: 1. never go on a weekend, there were like 3 birthday parties so you can imagine the crowd. we left by 2 because my kids were tired of bumping into everyone (they're pretty cranky kids lol!), and 2. there are NO DOORS in the bathrooms! aagghh! a lady walked in on me as I was finishing up. i just laughed it off (i got 2 kids, so shame goes out the window after that!), but my daughter is pretty shy and i remember being like that for a loooong time when i was young. I use to come to this exact roller rink as a kid and it was always a fun place to come to. Haven't been since and I'm really disappointed in the whole dress code situation. I was wearing pants that covered my legs and a spaghetti strap crop top with a jacket over and the manager told me I needed to "zip it up" if I wanted to skate? I saw other girls with super short shorts and felt I was outed for no reason. I ended up not feeling comfortable and didn't skate much. I love the inside of he rink and how amazing the neons are but not happy with the way I was treated. read more

With a groupon, this is the place for cheap fun with a heavy dose of nostalgia. We have been several times, and each time we end up leaving with happy hearts. The rink is well taken care of and offers the typical skating experience, right down to the snack bar. They do games to break up the skating, which is nice. The kids enjoy it. Personally I would have thought all these roller rinks closed down, but the rollercade remains successful even on Tuesday nights when you would imagine it being desolate. Skating on adult night: Completely awesome, well-maintained, super-clean. Great mix of music. All levels of skaters welcome - I never felt like I was going to be mowed over, and it's so cool watching the skilled skaters dancing. The decor is a total throwback to my 70's and 80's youth. This place is THE best!! From bargain skate, to pixie skate, to top 40 night, to adult night and much more, they have a skate session dedicated to you, trust me! I grew up skating (in Illinois) as a child and stopped for well over 12+ years. I attended a child's birthday party here about 4 years ago and decided I would try on a pair of rentals and skate. BEST DECISION EVER. I began skating laps like I'd never left the rink! I had a blast and you will too once you get off the computer and go check it out for yourself!! And just a note about some of the other (older, obnoxious) comments below: *The decor is bright and energetic, as it should be for a skating rink! *The music is very upbeat and tasteful. I was in charge of setting up for a party there and they wouldn't let me so I had to stay outside in the heat until they open and then they told me I couldn't bring our cake and decorations in. We had never been to a skating arena so for the first timer we had a great Experience! We bought a coupon on groupon for $13 for two people. We went on "Adult Night" so i think that made the experience better. I really enjoyed watching other people who actually knew how to do moves while skating dance around. For those who love to be serious about skating, the staff there is more than willing to help kids to grownups of all ages to learn to skate. I have been skating here at the Rollercade since July of 2013 and have yet to find a rude and unpleasant person. I have been to several rinks in several states and let me tell you, some of them are crappy and downright rude. I am from the Northeast and the rinks there are very sociable and clean. I came down here to the Rollercade and found a very friendly staff and the rink owner is very pleasant and in my eyes, JUST GREAT! The maintenance of this rink is always ongoing. Yes, like any other rink surface, is bumpy in spots, but what rink doesn't have some spots. Most of the potholes were made by speed skaters. The maintenance is there every single day working to keep it clean and pleasant for everyone. Anyone that says that the bathrooms are gross, only means that they were looking for some attention. Those bathrooms are kept very clean. The DJ's do sometimes double-duty. That means that they take care of the music and games, also do their very best to control the children that have skate mates to stay in the middle of the floor so that other skaters don't run into them and may get hurt. The control, I THINK, is awesome. As for me, I am very happy I found this rink and am very proud of the staff. Also, I am a competitive skater and find this floor very easy to skate on. I will also represent THE ROLLERCADE of San Antonio, TX at all the competitions that I go to. read more

My children and I just finished a three hour experience at Rollercade, and I don't think we'll be going back. I was initially pleased by the Tuesday special offering entry, skate, and a hot dog combo for $9 each. Still I guess you could say that's a pretty good deal for your money. I give this place an overall poor rating for the following reasons: 1) Although the foyer is nice and cool, the main body of the rink is smoking hot. 2) The place is very small for a big crowd. 3) Water fountain is warm and inadequate. 4) Although the Tuesday special afforded some monetary relief they nickle and dime you on everything else! $5 extra for one of the wheeled pvc triangle skate helpers!!!!! 5) The food was way overpriced and the one woman working behind the counter was seriously overworked. When I asked her if they were always so busy on Tuesday's she replied, "oh yeah." Clearly they need to get her some help. 6) No tolerance for outside food or drink. Also they don't allow food outside of their dinky little eat-in area. 7) The dj was unenthused and the games lacked any zeal. 8) Just as we were leaving they were announcing a glow skate for three songs. However you cannot be on the floor without a glow device, which they will conveniently sell you for $2. 9) Only two arcade games for the non-skater in our family. My daughter said, "I want to have my birthday party here!" But we will most definitely be trying our luck someplace else. read more

I used to skate here all the time, but their floor has gotten worse and worse. It was bad enough dodging kids in skatemates (who are supposed to stay in the middle, but the staff don't enforce this), but having the floor try to grab your skates is such an enjoyable experience. The back quarter of the rink looks like it was warped by water damage. If they shut down for a while and refinished or replaced the floor I'd go back. Until then there are plenty of other rinks in town. read more
