I was a bit too shy to join in that night, but I really appreciated the effort. You gotta love a place that goes that far to make a "noob" feel included. During a more recent visit without all the tables of people, it's still a cozy store with a warm and inviting environment. Upon walking in, I could tell the staff genuinely enjoyed being there. As I was browsing, a staff member told me about their puzzle trade. For a few bucks, you can trade the old puzzles you own with a selection of their used puzzles. I'll definitely be making the most of this deal. This is an Oakland gem that I can't recommend enough. If you're looking for a kind and welcoming community, this is a great one. The staff have always been pleasant to speak with and knowledgable. If you're looking for a new comic and on a budget, there are rows of $1 comic boxes to look through. I've found some out of Marvel. And local creator ones too. If you're looking for a surprise gift for your four year old nephew, there are several sections of the store offering a variety of children's books. And if you're nostalgic for the nineties sometimes, you could find some music inspired graphics catching your eye. The store itself is spacious, with plenty of tables and playing areas, which makes it a comfortable place to play, trade, and hang out. I primarily collect Pokémon, One Piece, and My Little Pony. Pokémon and One Piece sealed product can be pretty inconsistent in-store, especially with completely new releases or second-wave drops. I definitely understand that this is due to the high demand and distribution issues, but it can still be a bit of a bummer. When Pokémon or One Piece product is sold at MSRP, there is usually a strict purchase limit and the seal is ripped. Product availability can also vary depending on when shipments arrive. They generally keep customers updated about releases and delays through their Discord and Instagram. They also accept trades for sealed product, and I've occasionally seen older sealed ETBs and other sealed items available. My Little Pony singles and packs are sold in-store, and they carry a wide range of sealed Magic product as well. I'm not very familiar with Magic pricing, so I can't really comment on whether those prices are competitive. There are multiple binders and cases with singles available for purchase. They have Lorcana, Magic, Pokémon, One Piece, and Yu-Gi-Oh! singles in their binders, so there's a decent variety depending on what you're looking for. Bulk is also available, including Pokémon, One Piece, and other TCG bulk. Bulk is 25 cents per card, which is a little more expensive compared to some other places I have bought bulk from. They also sell deck boxes, binders, sleeves, and other TCG-related accessories. Snacks and drinks are available for customers as well, which is a nice convenience when you're spending several hours at the store for an event. There is a bathroom available for customers. One of the things I really like is their vendor events, which happen twice a month. These give customers an opportunity to meet, purchase from, and trade with different vendors. Most vendors carry a variety of Pokémon, One Piece, Riftbound, and Magic products. The vendors also change, and vending spots are first-come, first-served, which I think is a fair way to handle it. Best of all, the event is free, which is great for the local community. Discord is their main form of communication, with Instagram also being used regularly. Their updates are generally consistent and come primarily from Manny, one of the co-owners. The Discord community is pretty active, and questions are usually answered quickly by Manny, other employees, regular customers, or players. As far as buying, trading, or selling goes, I believe they only do those transactions on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays rather than during the week. The percentages they offer are listed in the store. From my understanding, the cash/store-credit rates are around 60% although I would recommend checking and calling the current rates in-store since these can change. Overall, the staff have always been pretty chill, knowledgeable, and patient in my experience. Some of the employees also participate in the weekly TCG events, which helps give the store a welcoming community feel. Parking is usually pretty easy, unless there is a large TCG event, vendor night, or a new product drop. There are five other businesses in the shopping center, so parking can fill up during busier times. The other businesses include a dentist, haircut shop, shoe shop, nail shop, and coffee shop, so it's worth keeping that in mind when visiting during a busy event.

A card and game shop in the Alameda area…read more I was in town and a friend brought us here to check out. Although a small shop, you can tell that they have their local favorites come through. There were some people playing in the shop when we came in. Because the shop itself is small, this made the shop already pretty crowded and a bit hard to navigate through. They had some cute stuff after looking around. I mainly collect Pokemon cards just for fun (not to play) so maybe this wasn't more of my speed for the card shop. I got to see some of the things in their binder and they had some cool cards. The prices were pretty okay and I did pick up two cards. My friend that lives in the area comes here because he says they usually have things for a good price so that's good to know!

That's my rule: if I step into a game or comic shop, I have to buy something. It's a hard habit to break at this point. From the outside, the store looks massive -like it might contain the multiverse. But once inside, the retail selection isn't quite as big as it appeared to be. BUT... it's got great stuff. Solid board game options. Plenty of space for RPGs and card games. It's the kind of store that's clearly built around social gatherings and play. Spacious and not cramped. A rare find in a city setting. There's an upstairs and downstairs, but those seemed more dedicated to table games you can meet up and play rather than shopping, so I didn't explore too much. The staffer working was friendly and helpful. She even checked if they had the new Monster Manual. Unfortunately, they didn't. That was a letdown. I mean, it's been out for months. If a game store doesn't carry the NEW core D&D books, especially right after a new edition drops, it stings a bit. They had plenty of the original 5e, but not the new. Still, I wasn't leaving empty-handed. Picked up a slick set of dice and the softcover Pathfinder 2E Monster Core Pocket Edition. Gotta support the cause. Overall? I'm glad I found the place. It's a real hangout spot. Honestly, throw in some coffee and comfy chairs, and I'd post up there for hours. Coffee and dice----- it just works right?
