It's gritty and real, far less commercialized than gem shows you typically find at fairgrounds. A large majority of the vendors here are true rockhounds, who have a passion for what they do. Many of these guys are the ones that found the rocks they are selling. So you will find much more raw material here, bulk rock, and other wholesale-type deals. There are giant amethyst stalagmites, barrels of agates, large quartz crystals, fossils, and every kind of stone you can imagine. Since the people are real and own the stuff they are selling, the prices can be negotiable, too. So if you like to haggle, haggle away. Especially if you are buying large amounts of stuff. The show is also huge, and it's unlikely that you could finish in one day. I know there's no way I could, and didn't when I passed by even though I wished for more time. Maybe it's because I have always marvelled at the amazing number of permutations that nature creates with what is essentially, dirt. Millions of years in the ground cooking and bam, awesome crystals, intricate patterns, beautiful colors. I only made it through about one third of the show in two hours. Overall, if you are up for an adventure and looking for something fun to do, the Desert Gardens Rock, Gem, and Mineral Show will definitely be worth the trip. Five stars all the way.

Many of the rocks were collected locally by Club members or donated to the Club. Kathy was volunteering during our visit. My girlfriend and I made the purchase of these acrylic blades at around November 21 last year, and albeit, it was during the holiday season AND the pandemic has been running amok, I understood why they had to delay their progress by a week. When the team emailed us to directly email them if we wanted to receive our product before Christmas, I decided to take that shot. If they couldn't, then I wholeheartedly understand, since there are other customers that they had to deal with. After I get a response saying that they would try their best to ship it to us before Christmas, I figured it was said and done. A couple days after Christmas go by and no email notifying that it was shipped, so I figured it wasn't ready yet. It's now January 6, and there still wasn't any notification, so I decided to email them again to see if there was any status or update on the blades. A day after I send the email, I magically receive a notification that the package is ready to get sent. Uhh, a little odd that it just so happened after I sent an email in regards to the status of it, but I guess it's on its way now. January 14 rolls by and I still haven't received any updates, it was still under pre-shipment. I send another email to ask if anything wrong happened to the item, to which I magically receive another notification that it's officially been retrieved by USPS. Again, I found it kind of odd that they sent it a day after I sent and email to them, but I'm still stoked that I'm receiving my package! After almost two months, I finally retrieved my package in the mail. Overall, I just hope that they start becoming a little more responsive to their customers in case a shipping problem goes wrong. I will definitely buy from them again, since their products are high quality, regardless, but I hope things improved since Christmas! The store is large with so many different areas. And not all just for crafts. The first thing is a seasonal section-they were starting to put up Valentine's Day decorations and candies. The flower area was beautifully filled with silk and fake flowers. They had a large jewelry area with all manner for jewelry making. HINT: Sign up online for coupons. The 40% is common and I've even seen a 50% before. Also, things go on sale and clearance. Check those out! I recommend and would go back to Michael's for any decoration or craft items. The place is neat & clean and service is good. The only negative is how crazy busy they get and the line can be long-though, it does go fast!
