I seldom go into a craft store since I don't do crafts. But a friend needed to find some items so I went along. I am always surprised at the size of the store. The store is large with so many different areas. And not all just for crafts. The first thing is a seasonal section-they were starting to put up Valentine's Day decorations and candies. The flower area was beautifully filled with silk and fake flowers. They had a large jewelry area with all manner for jewelry making. HINT: Sign up online for coupons. The 40% is common and I've even seen a 50% before. Also, things go on sale and clearance. Check those out! I recommend and would go back to Michael's for any decoration or craft items. The place is neat & clean and service is good. The only negative is how crazy busy they get and the line can be long-though, it does go fast! read more

So much for advertising nationally that your stores would be open until 11pm on the 23rd. A Christmas project went south on me but I saw that they were supposed to be open late so I could get what I needed to fix it. I got in the door with 15 minutes to spare but with no one in sight to help, I spent 10 minutes looking for what I needed. Right as I was turning down an aisle and could see something I thought might fix my gift, an employee walked up to me and said "sir, we're closed". I pulled out my phone and looked at the time and it was 5 minutes till 11. I told her I can see what I came for, can I have a minute and she said that her manager is saying (by walky talky) they are closing the registers already. So much for fixing my project. I had other items in my hand but couldn't purchase with their registers already shut down. Unfortunately, this Michael's is yet another area store that could greatly benefit from some customer service training for its employees. I will never shop at this Michael's again. read more

Michaels - Arts & Crafts Near Me - El Centro, California

I went here to pick up new brushes for a project I had coming up and to my amazement the majority of the brushes were broken, nothing was arranged and employees literally just watch people line up to check out from the other side of the entrance and resumed talking to other co-workers. I've never been to any Store where literally all the brushes in a size were snapped in half or bristles splayed completely 90 degrees. read more

El Centro finally got their own Michael's. I prefer small independent stores over chains but a chain store is better than having to drive to San Diego for craft supplies. I came in here with the friend I'm visiting to check it out and it's a very nice store, being so new. They had some great sales and I had a couple of coupons I used. I liked this store as well as any others I've been in. read more

The store is always filthy, especially the restrooms. When they run out of supplies, the management just put an out of order sign on the door. I asked an associate about the sign, and they told me that the facilities were working, they just had no supplies. How do the associates use the restroom? I was told that they bring Packets of tissues in desperation. There are things hanging over the top of the aisles that look like an accident waiting to happen. Just go over to their framing aisles near the shadowboxes and look up. Nothing ever seems to be labeled correctly, and the store always seems to be empty. Need a manager to be paged? Better have a good 10-15 minutes to wait. read more

They often have sales - I get my coupons in the mail... But in terms of the staff being helpful... It's tough, because usually they aren't ..so usually u have to roam around alone, and look for what u need, I mean come on !!! Forget about asking a question about some craft item, they look at u puzzled , and keep walking ???!!! read more

This place is poorly stocked and very messy. When I go, the item I'm looking for is usually the last item in stock. I usually print out a coupon or use a coupon from my phone to motivate me to take a trip there. read more

Like most chain stores in Imperial Valley this store isn't very well stocked, or clean. I can find what I'm looking for most of the time. It's main function is to hold me over until I can go to San Diego and really get my craft on. read more

This place is amazing! I love going to Michael's! The staff is well acquainted with their products and where they are located. I went there about a week ago to make my daughter's birthday invitations & they had everything that I was looking for. I even had to bother 2 employees to guide me in the right direction & they were so nice & pointed me to the exact isle of the item I was looking for! I would totally recommend going there. read more
