My friend Kelli B. emailed me her review and said "I can't believe that I beat Amy to this review!" Ok, lady...here it is!
The Rock Boat is an experience that is hard to describe, but I'm going to try.
Are you a fan of live music? Ok, well picture a large music festival that is chock full of bands that you can't wait to see. Now picture that aboard a cruise ship. Picture yourself sitting in a deck chair with the sun smiling on you watching a cool band kick ass on stage or at times being introduced to a new artist that you've never heard of. Picture yourself surrounded by friendly people doing the same, some of those people you know from past years aboard the Rock Boat and some are just new friends that you made hours before. There is such a general feeling of camaraderie that it is impossible to be angry or upset about anything that is happening in your real life. Dare I say, this is Utopia!
In addition to being akin to the best summer festival you've ever been to in your life, the Rock Boat also has flip cup tournaments, theme nights (did you pack your Rocky Horror Picture Show outfit?!?), and many other fun things to do on board. In fact, it's so much fun that a day in port is kind of a bummer. The fun is happening on the boat!
Hey, how many times have you been playing flip cup and had Sister Hazel walk by and then join in? How many times have you walked over to an elevator bay and found musicians jamming away? How many times have you stood in line for pizza and turned around to find one of the Hansen brothers in line behind you? How many times have you seen an official "Flip Cup Guy" projectile vomit all over Carbon Leaf?
Yeah, it's not stuff that I want to check off of my life to-do list, but it all adds to the generally cool atmosphere on board the Rock Boat. read more
