I dropped my wife off for CAT Scan at a medical center in Westwood and needed some caffeine so I searched for coffee shops and lo and behold The Roasterie has a shop 1 block away. The spot is bright with natural lighting with table, bar, comfy chairs and patio seating. My fall seasonal "Chaider" was a tangy and spicy Chai / cider concoction that was intriguing but probaly won't go on my re-order list. The toffee chip cookie will definitely stay on my re-order list! read more

Came to the Roasterie to work for the afternoon and this was a great spot! Lots of parking out in the lot shared with surrounding businesses and lots of seating options both inside and outside. A pretty functional Roasterie from my experience over the years. It's a bit subdued in the atmosphere which lends itself to be a nice, quiet spot to work. I go to Woodside nearby and have found their coffee doesn't quite hit like the Roasterie, so occasionally I'll make my way over here. My latest visit was for a simple black coffee, but also late in the morning which means it could be a bit stale. That wasn't the case at all, it was literally perfect. A single origin Guatemalan roast that made me rethink the beans I've been using at home.. They also always have clean restrooms and tons of places to sit, so again for work or meeting someone it's a safe bet. Big parking lot attached as well. Overall I'm almost always a fan of The Roasterie and their many locations. They're more than reliable, coffee is always good, and lately even their specialty drinks have been hitting for me which is rare. If you're a Starbucks addict, make the switch to The Roasterie and don't look back. read more

My husband and I stopped in to this coffee house the other day and were pleasantly surprised and will definitely be back! We really like the roominess and cleanliness of the business. The sound level was perfect with good noise level of the background music. They had a wide variety on their menu and my pumpkin spiced latte was great and my husband's tea was also good. The service was excellent and I wish I would have gotten the barista's name. This morning, I made the drive over to the Roasterie. This is a great little location first thing in the morning. It was pretty quiet. Ample parking at this time of day. I ordered a decaf pour over and was also able to sample their Kansas City blend regular coffee. The decaf pour is a very smooth medium to dark roast coffee. It would be considered full body. As a poor pour over it's quite nice. The Kansas City blend is also very nice with some lighter notes and a lighter roast. A berry note at the finish was pleasant. The barista this morning was also the cashier, the cook, the dishwasher and the manager. She was super pleasant while handling the tasks of two or three people that happened to call in sick today. She took it all in stride, not letting herself get overwhelmed. Would highly recommend stopping in and getting your favorite coffee here. read more

This is my go-to "work from home" coffee shop for a few hours in the morning. The drinks are good, but I've always been a fan of Roasterie Coffee. The only reason I didn't give them a 5th star, is they frequently turn up the music around 8am to an almost deafening level for a coffee shop. This has been my study spot of choice for the pst few months! The Roasterie at Woodside is a space drenched in natural light with lots of fun seating options - round tables, square tables, high top bar seating, couch seating patio seating and booth seating! Whether you are coming in and out or plan to stay for a few hours, they have you covered. On to the beverages. I always have decision anxiety when I come here because everything is so good! The steampunk coffee really allows the flavor of the beans to come out... the cold brew is top choice and potent but a little pricey (6-7$ for 16 oz.).. the chai latte has a nice spice twist to it... mango smoothies are refreshing on a hot summer day... and the london fog is a new favorite! I have enjoyed all the beverages I have tried! Food wise, the croissants are top choice - but they sell out so make sure you snag one early when you are in the shop! The baristas are super friendly and are always offering samples if you suffer from decision anxiety like myself. Oh, and punch cards! Get a punch every time you buy a beverage and once it is full, you get $5 off! Tuesdays are double punch days if you're looking for that extra bonus :) The Roasterie is also a KC original so every purchase can earn you points which then can get redeemed for money to use at any KC originals venue. I used to work for a company that built smartphones. My executive boss once hold me. "Taking our product to market requires 50 steps to master and even if you get the first 49 right, but fail on the second 50th, all that effort will have been for naught." He was a very philosophical guy. But he was not wrong, and my experiences at this store is tantamount to my score. The Roasterie does a lot of things right. The picked the right location, they filled the space the right ways, they got the parking right, they have the right equipment and beans to make a great cup of coffee. Then they muck it up on the last few steps. This review isn't for the one time I went there, it is a culmination of multiple trips there. They do one thing badly....which is to make a hot cup of coffee. This shop is the only place I've been too where about 20% of the time, the coffee is lukewarm. This is a basic failure, something that donut stores and gas station don't make. It could be easily fixed with a temperature sensor, but instead they are okay with just serving it until someone complains. This last trip was the last straw. I went in for a cup of coffee, got it and like a few other times, it was lukewarm. Went to the manager who was apologetic while being slightly perturbed at someone calling out a problem. Five minutes he gives me another cup of coffee. It seemed okay but then he said the brew came from a half batch and he would fix. I will never see another cup of coffee again. Fifteen minutes later, no coffee. The staff isn't even at the front, but hanging out in the back. I ask for my money back. The manager gives me a look of frustration, not from the poor job he did, but the fact that I was bothering him again. I decide to use the app to lodge a complaint, as he is being an jerk. The app is also horrible, it often doesn't work right. They won't sent feedback and several times they didn't record the transaction in their loyalty program. i missed the days of their paper cards. At least they can't deny serving me there. So, I instead use their website, which is basically the same thing as their app. I don't hear back which, at this point, is not surprising. The only reason I am giving them two stars (instead of one) is I guess the manager noticed me typing away furiously and sheepishly came over and gave a free voucher. Luckily, their location on 119th has never had problems so I will use that free voucher at this location. Their other stores (fillings stations and black dog) still provide good service as they seem to care, but this store is the worst. read more

We tried a croissant and scone pastry warmed up which were both excellent. It was pretty busy when we were there in a Friday morning, yet still nice and quiet! This is a great addition to Westwood. Very open and clean. Tons of seating and a nice covered outdoor seating. Everyone is very friendly and inviting. It was a little sterile for me. Maybe too open and big. I like to feel cozy for my Sunday morning coffee. But great work environment. Lots of places to plug in your laptop or phone. The food is primarily from Baked. Love that. We had the cinnamon scone and sausage breakfast burrito. The scone was so moist and fresh. The burrito consisted of sausage egg potato and cheese it was good and clean and simple. It didn't have anything remarkable about it it could have used some peppers and onions but it was a safe choice. I had a café au lait extra hot with almond milk and it did not disappoint. Stayed hot until the end. My husband had the cold brew and it was delicious with no acid or bite. Refills are a dollar less than the first one. They have a station with raw sugar regular sugar and some artificial sweeteners as well as a couple flavored syrups and milk along with cinnamon. Would love to see the addition of Stevia. Parking was great as they have a whole private lot they share. read more

I got to visit for the first time last weekend. I got coffee on the first visit & took the tour on the 2nd visit. What a great place! I am guessing that there is a great coffee bean or grind for all coffee lovers there. I was able to try all the cold brews, of which I'm not usually a fan, but I enjoyed 4 of the 5 varieties. Visited this location 10 Nov 2018. Overall felt classy, cozy, and comfortably clean. The two staff members on duty were customer focused. It's hard to get a smile or a greeting at some of the other coffee spots like Quay Coffee or Monarch Coffee. PROS: - Very spacious and modern design. - Great space to work, study, or for a business/casual meet up. - The staff were warm, kind, and appeared to be sincerely good people. -The carrot cake was suggested by the staff with an offering to warm it. Absolutely delicious. The cake itself was moist and the icing was not too sweet or heavy. -The burrito was surprisingly tasty. Expected a bland healthy burrito. It was filling with a great mix of flavor. -Coffee placed in a cozy mug. Very good drip coffee. - The building temperature was not too cold or too hot. -Bathrooms are clean and modern. -Music is appropriate in volume and as expected for a coffee place. -Other customers with headphones on or keeping their conversations to a respectful volume. -Felt very comfortable in setting up a workstation. Outlets are in close proximity so you don't have to be too selective. -Would definitely return. This location hit stars in all the categories for a pleasant experience. -Just found out they offer 10% military discount. Will definitely use next time. CONS: The little round black tables need pads or something on the bottom of the legs. They make a terrible witching screech when moved. read more

Boyfriend and I were free and bored on a Friday night so yesterday, we happened to visit this location since the ones near me were closed and it was 7pm already. The area looks like it is doing through a lot of construction but there was still plenty of parking in the parking lot. When we got there, it was empty with only a few people inside. Dwight and I were greeted by an awesome barista. We had no where really to be so we were very chill and joking about with her. I appreciated her customer service and she made us an amazing drink. Dwight had ordered a nitro brew with chocolate milk (odd, I know... but it tasted pretty good surprisingly!). I didn't catch her name but she definitely made us laugh. That's great customer service! Only reason why I am giving 4 out of 5 stars is because the cup was bended, so when we were driving home, the tea I had spilled on my thighs and I got a small burn :( not anyone's fault but because the cup lid was bent, the lid could not be secured. I'll be back soon enough. This place has a little more of a modern look and seems a bit more quieter which is perfect for studying purposes! read more

Out of all the Roasteries I have been to, this is probably my favorite. This location is relatively new compared to the other locations, and the decor definitely shows it! This Roasterie is very modern and includes awesome light fixtures and a variety of seating (booths, bar seats, couches, and more!) To top it off, there are a lot of windows that bring in a lot of natural light, making this coffee shop less sterile or dull compared to other coffee shops in KC. While the atmosphere is nice, the reason I enjoy this location the most is because it's a great place to work. During the weekdays, it is relatively quiet and mostly filled with people trying to get work done. The weekends, on the other hand, are a bit more crowded as many people come here to spend time with friends and family. The coffee is the same as any of the other Roasteries. I personally do not find anything special about their coffee, but it is good enough to keep me awake while I am getting my work done. To sum it up: ok coffee, great staff, beautiful space, and great environment conducive to studying. Maybe next time I'll try one of their baked goods or beautifully decorated cookies! read more

I absolutely love this place. My favorite place to study (when COVID wasn't a thing), and the coffee is soooo delicious. The rosemary vanilla latte is addicting. I'd drink one every day if I could! It's open and spacious, but still manages to be cozy and quiet enough to get work done. They do run out of pastries a lot in the evenings, but I suppose that's to be expected. I will never understand why anyone in customer service would seem so blatantly unhappy about your presence at the order counter. This dude that just took my order couldn't make me more uncomfortable if he tried about being here to give my business - biggest frown, seemed annoyed when I ask if they had oat milk. I said, "thank you"... and.... nothing. lol! (You've got so much going for you, you and your cool man-bun, but sheesh if you can't be nice to a chill person that's stoked to get some of your coffee...life must be rough). It's been a treat to see the evolution of the Roasterie over the years in KC. From their humble beginnings to the opening of a couple cafes, to the expansion of the "Bean Hanger" facility on the Westside, to their latest phase of new cafes around the area, the Roasterie is Kanasas City coffee. Woodside Village smacks of hip and chic decor. It's only natural that the Roasterie get in on the game while the game is hot. This location doesn't disappoint. Ultra modern "industrial" feel around the cafe, top notch coffee brewing materials, friendly baristas, and super cool decor. I'll always get behind the Roasterie and their products. Woodside Village is the next great thing to come out of this hometown giant. Coffee is naturally solid here. Great people watching and a great space to sip, nosh, and work. If only I were 10 yrs younger or 20 years older, I would live here and go to the cafe every day. read more

Located in the beautiful Woodside Village, this Roasterie is incredible. Everything from the furniture to the lighting to the coffee is fabulous. I ordered an iced vanilla latte, but would love to try a signature drink next time. This location has tons of seating with lots of room to spread out without feeling crammed and open wifi! Staff is incredibly kind and have great attitude. This is a great place to study/work because it's spacey and a bit quieter. Definitely going to be a regular here. The coffee is very good too, I've gotten drip coffee, non-fat latte, and chia tea and loved all of them. I have not tried any food here yet, but I plan too and will write a review then. My only real complaint is that there are not enough outlets for when I study here. The only wall with tons of outlets is one that have a floor to ceiling window that faces 47th street. I would sit there, but it's WAY too bright. read more
