Absolutely love how my hair turned out after going to Mallory! The main reason I went to her was because I have frizzy, curly hair and wanted my hair dyed with some caramel balayage/highlights (not sure the correct terminology) and get a keratin treatment. She was one of the only few hairstylists nearby who've worked with curly hair and specifically had experience working with that type of hair for keratin and hair dyeing (we all know it's a much different experience when hairstylists are only experienced with straight, "more manageable" hair). I've never had a keratin treatment before nor have I dyed my hair, but Mallory made sure I felt comfortable and educated about the whole process. Since the hair dye and keratin treatment lasted about 6 hours (I have thick, long hair), it never felt that long since Mallory is a joy to be around with her stories and even went out of her way to get me Wetzels Pretzels and snack on girl scout cookies. I rarely go to a salon for a cut because I find that many stylists just dont know what to do with curly hair. My best friend and stylist has done my hair for years but she's all the way in Florida so I came across Mallory when yelping for a stylist here in LA. I was looking for someone who REALLY knew how to cut curly hair. Her reviews were great so I contacted her to schedule a phone consultation. I found her to be very thorough, she seemed really knowledgeable and she asked what I thought to be the right questions. I went in for my cut yesterday and I left very. very pleased! She made sure that she was very clear on exactly what I wanted from my cut and how I like to wear my hair. She was not scissor happy which I find to be the case when I go to salons (cutting more than I requested or telling me my hair needs inches cut off). I got my keratin treatment in the beginning of August. I was afraid to get it at first, scared my money will go to waste. I gave it a shot. My hair was always frizzy, no matter what products I used from shampoo to conditioner to hair treatment and oils. I will always get frizzy hair, cutting my hair style to braids only. I wasn't able to let my hair loose after the braid because it would've been worse. During the winter, if I straighten my hair, the minute I stepped out my hair would do back to its frizz and waves as if I never straighten it. Struggling to do my hair every morning to calm it was stressful and I had enough. After a hard decision, I went to Mallory. She was AMAZING! She kept me satisfied throughout the entire progress. There's too many great things I could say about my recent hair experience with Mallory. I found her after tons of local yelp searching. I reached out online and was scheduled for a Keratin treatment and haircut within the hour. Now I'd never had a Keratin treatment before and though I'd done my research, I had a lot of questions and concerns with it. Mallory was informative, honest, and completely educated on it all. I had gone almost a whole year without a trim and she made sure to keep as much length as possible. She made a great point by saying that she didn't feel right doing this expensive treatment and have me leave with scraggly ends. Even with the 3-4 inches she took off, I felt great about it. It was long and healthier than it's looked in years. I waited 2 whole weeks to write this review because right after my keratin treatment, I left for a 10 day trip to Europe. I really wanted to see how my hair held up through the rainy and moist London and Paris fall weather. Not only was my morning hair routine cut in half, but my hair withstood the wet weather like a total champ. It looked amazing rain and shine. Zero frizz. I'm so happy I found Mallory when I did and will definitely be making my next hair appointment with her in a couple months. She has an amazing solo suite of her own. Bought a voucher to get a haircut by Mallory on Gilt City. I normally just go to random Korean hairstylists and am never happy with my haircut... I decided it was time to commit to a GOOD, quality hairstylist so that I could finally have a hair style that I liked, and I was fortunate enough to stumble upon Mallory. Mallory really listens to what you want, and is very professional and knowledgeable. She explains to you what she's doing, and makes great helpful recommendations re: products and styling tips. She actually ended up cutting relatively little of my hair, but drastically changed the look of it so that I was MUCH happier with it than I had been when I walked into her salon. I usually never write reviews but I feel I need to share with you, the amazing experience I had with Mallory and why I'll never go any where else. I decided to have my hair lightened or sombre whatever you want call it for the first time on Friday at a salon in studio city. To make a long story short, the results were horrible... I had yellow and orange hair. When I pulled my hair back you could see streaks against my dark hair. It and I looked horrible. I felt like I had made a huge mistake. I knew I needed to fix my hair. So I started looking and found Mallory on Yelp, and after reading some of the great reviews I felt like she could help me. So, I contacted Mallory on Sunday morning and ask if she could see me, and she said yes. I have been a loyal Mallory follower since 2006. I started seeing her when I lived in the valley. I moved to San Diego in 2009. I drive up to L.A. just to have her do my hair!
