In 2016 I came to this salon to have my hair dyed red professionally. Went to them for about 2 years, and they changed my formula every appointment (inconsistent color every time). I didn't complain about it at the time because it wasn't a big deal to me. The salon owner, Sai, is a nice person and fun to talk to. She told me to come to her for color correction if I ever wanted to go back to my natural blonde. I started dyeing my hair red with henna in 2018 because it was way cheaper and healthier for my hair than chemical dye, so I didn't come back to color lounge. I also found a vintage hair stylist and started seeing her regularly instead (personal preference). She retired from doing hair during the pandemic, and I needed someone to do my hair...so in 2021 I went back to blonde after about a year of zero henna applications. The hairdresser who got me to blonde again in 2021 moved away, so I went back to henna for less than 2 years. I decided to go back to blonde for good in August 2023, so I contacted Sai & gave my hair history. She said no problem, we can start your transition back to blonde with minimal damage. I was quoted a 6 hour appointment and would be charged an hourly rate--when all was said and done, I was at the salon from 9am-9pm and was charged $1,800. I was not happy at the end of the appointment, but I just wanted to go home...I felt obligated to tip 20% because of the time Sai & her assistant spent, so in total I spent $2,300. I wanted to cry leaving the appointment. How do you tell someone who spent 12 hours working on your hair that you don't like it? The real disappointment sank in when I felt/saw/realized how damaged my hair was...it was breaking off any time I touched it or brushed/styled it. It has taken over 12 months to regain any semblance of hair health, and no thanks to Color Lounge. I asked Sai after my appointment if we could do some kind of professional deep conditioning, mask, or treatment to help repair the damage and she said "just buy the redken acidic bonding line" and offered nothing else in the way of recovery or assistance. The stylist I always book my appointments with is Kaitlin! She is incredibly talented and is an expert in color! Not only does she listen to my thoughts and ideas. She also has amazing suggestions of her own that would compliment my facial structure and my skin tone. I'm naturally a blonde, but my hair is starting to turn gray. The blonde color wasn't covering my grays any longer. I then decided I'd like to change my color to a redhead. Kaitlin knocked it out of the ball park! Boy, did she get it right!! On 4/3 I went to Sai at Color Lounge for "Going Gray". After looking through the reels on their instagram, it looked like she knew what she was doing. (Later realized there was a HUGE red flag.. the images were from 2018-2019!!) The consultation was uneventful, with one note. In the +/- 40 minute appointment, no fewer than 15 times did Sai say, "You have to use purple shampoo". No fewer than 15 times, I responded that I do, in fact, use purple shampoo. I paid the $300 deposit and scheduled an appointment. I'll cut to the chase. This is what I wanted vs what I got. It looks like I have frizzy roots from a prior bleaching process. Oh, yeah! That's Sai's excellent work. Do you see any blending? I don't. When my hair was being rinsed for the last time, she says, "Now you can style it however you want". Huh? You're not going to blow dry my hair so YOU can see the results? In total, I paid $1900 for this fiasco. The service lasted 5.5 hours. I'll do the math for you. That's $345.45 per hour. She NEVER gave me a quote. I was shocked. I have curly hair (not frizzy, until now) so she brought over a heat lamp. Guess they don't have diffusers. The treatment stripped my hair of its curl. She must've known it was a problem as she joined me in my attempt to finger curl the front. To no avail, I might add. She told me she was "giving me" a small tube of purple mask. She didn't GIVE it, she charged me. I left with wet hair. She didn't show me the back. When I got home, the comments ranged from "it's a work in progress, right?" To "I wonder if it can be fixed". The following day, I called the salon and left a message for Sai expressing my displeasure. When she called me back, besides telling me "I told you so", she said, "it makes me sad that you're not happy. I want to make it right. It'll take time, so I'm going to charge you ". WHAT? No contrition. Just defensive reactions. Ultimately, I told her that we were speaking past each other, so continuing the conversation was worthless. Ever hear the phrase "you break it, you buy it?" She broke it and expects me to buy it. Not happening. Sure, I signed a flimsy contract saying they give no refunds. Wow. Guess they're experienced in the sort of failure I've received. Can it be fixed? I don't know. Am I disputing the charges? You better believe it. Taking advantage, casting blame, refusing to acknowledge responsibility for your work. Don't trust them. And if you decide to, use a credit card so you're protected against this kind of fraud. read more

This is my 3rd time getting my hair color done at the Color Lounge. Sai always does an amazing job on my hair. I never leave reviews, but I feel like it's overdue. Sai and Trisha did such a great job with my hair when I came in last week! They stayed past closing to make sure the color was the best it could be. The blonde color turned out really pretty and the roots are blended in nicely. They take really good care of your hair here and won't burn it by rushing with overly strong bleach and heat. My hair is super fine and fragile, but it still feels healthy and strong despite how much bleach went on it. The before picture is 1 year grown out softer highlights by Sai. I've been to ColorLounge twice now and absolutely LOVE it there. Most recently Taylor gave me my first post-COVID cut. She took 18 months of grown-out hair, listened carefully to what I had in mind, and absolutely nailed it! Layers later, I left feeling completely renewed and fresh. Bonus points for being a very gray-friendly salon who knows how to handle silver hair in completely badass ways. Just before the pandemic I saw Sai for a color conversion. I had always said that when the time came for me to go gray I was going purple first, and Sai made that happen to a level I dared not imagine. She managed to bleach out my remaining box brown so gently that I didn't lose any length at all. At the end of the process, she had transformed my half silver/half brown grown out mess into a beautiful amethyst that allowed me to enjoy my transition time feeling like a damn rock star! I really love this place. I got my hair dyed blonde (from virgin black) back in 2018 and they did a beautiful job. Had a consultation to talk about the process, cost and maintenance. It was super informative. More recently, I went back after growing all my blonde out and wanted to get a piece-dye. Taylor had great suggestions for how to achieve what I wanted but low maintenance. My hair grows really fast, so I didn't wanna get touched up every 6 weeks. My hair turned out even better than what I expected. Taylor was super nice and pretty quick. She also did a great job with my haircut-- usually I never like it when someone does a shortcut on me, but this one feels so light and amazing. I have been going to Color Lounge for the past few years. I see the stylist Sai who always does a fantastic hair cut. Sai can do all types of styles and color. I have had Blue hair, pixie style hair now long hair. Just recently had a Brazilian blowout and loved it!!! Taylor did a PHENOMENAL job with my hair. I gave her full creative control and she absolutely rocked it. It looks great but much more importantly than that was how seriously they took precautions against COVID-19. Everything they use is sterilized, in fact Taylor told me that they actually had to get rid of some tools that couldn't be sterilized and find work arounds. There was only one other client besides myself the whole day and the salon is large enough that we were able to keep our distance. They have a policy that no more than 5 people can be in the salon at a time, including employees. The stylists were incredibly diligent about hand washing and mask wearing, and they had sterilized areas for clients to place their belongings. It's incredibly important that we support small businesses that are taking the pandemic seriously by doing their best to protect their customers and their employees. I never write reviews, but here it goes. I booked an appointment for highlights and was aware of the $150 per hours price. I brought a picture of what exactly I was wanting and with a full head of foil and 5 hours of work I even thought omg this is going to be too blonde. Once all the foil was off and I was done my hair looked nothing like the picture, it basically looked like what I already had. I did not say anything because I am usually not one to complain and what was done was done I figured when I come back in 5 weeks which I had scheduled we can fix the issues. To be honest after paying $750.00 no one even noticed I had my hair done I had to ask people if they noticed that I had it done. After all that I was looking forward to going back in five weeks to my appointment as I had a cruise coming up; however, I got cancelled in a text of all things, no phone call, no explanation, which bothers me to this day.
