During the appointment, the experience itself was uncomfortable. Chemicals were dripping onto my face, leaving stains on my forehead, and when my hair was washed, the water was cold and splashed everywhere. A few days later, after washing and styling my hair the way I normally do, I noticed how off the balayage looked. My roots already appeared very grown out--almost halfway down my head. I understand balayage is meant to grow out naturally, but this looked like it had been done months ago when it had only been a week. Even my family commented that it looked grown out. I called the salon to see if they could fix the top portion, and I was told my stylist, Angel, would call me back--but I never heard from her. Overall, I'm really disappointed. Not only was the service expensive, but the results didn't meet expectations, and there was no follow-up or effort to make it right.

I canceled everything that day. I even draped a coat over my head to walk from the parking lot to my door so no one would see it. I was already a mess. My hair looked nothing like the photos I showed Kaylie I wanted my hair to look like. If she couldn't do it she could have made me aware of this so I may find another stylist. I would have preferred that than walking out with a Michael Jackson haircut. My hair is so short I can't put it into a ponytail nor pin it up in the back. Looks like I'll be living in baseball cap for two months straight. My birthday is coming up and I am just going to cancel that as well. I've never had a cut this traumatizing in my adult life.

Alisha has been cutting our family's hair for about a year. We move quite a bit and it can be a challenge to find a stylist. My wife likes the kids to have something different than the typical cuts. Her hair is thick and curly, mine is fine and fairly straight. Alisha does a wonderful job on all counts. The new location is relaxing. And I mean picky as in throughout med school in Chicago and residency in LA, I always ended up back in Huntington Beach, Orange County to see my hair stylist! My world was turned upside down last year when my stylist in OC told me she was moving to another State. Nervously I started searching the LA area. Thankfully, I came across Balayage by Liel and set up an appointment. Liel took her time with my hair, asked all the right questions, while still maintaining the confidence that you look for in a stylist. She is extremely detail oriented and pretty much paints your hair picture perfect. My balayage has NEVER looked better, while my hair still looks healthy and shiny. In fact, when I look at my pictures from last year, I wish I started seeing her sooner! Liel is the absolute GAME CHANGER and the Holy Grail that every girl looks for in a hair stylist. At the same time, she's so humble and personable that you'll totally feel comfortable and at home. If you're looking for the perfect balayage, Liel is your girl. I found Liel on yelp after searching for blonde balayage near me. My hair was literally a hot mess…read moreand I needed help finding a better solution to my bad roots! I ended up getting two "root smudges" and bangs trimmed by Liel and I really liked the color - hooray for smudges! The price seemed fair and even though she was a little slow to respond/schedule/confirm the first time, the second time she was very accommodating to my very last minute request, and to me, that more than made up for the first slow time around. However....when I tried to schedule a third appointment on July 23rd, it turned into days and weeks of confusing texts (the most recent I received today) that quite frankly got a little personal and unpleasant I think Balayage by Liel would be so much better with a more efficient scheduling system, and by keeping the communication with me, the client, more professional and respectful. Based on my poor customer experience, and my current hair withstanding, I would not recommend Balayage by Liel to my friends or family. With damaged hair and growing roots, time is of the essence, and when it comes to customer service, I don't think it's right to speak to a customer (who only wants to book your good services!) in an ill-tempered way. But I have to give credit where it's do! I liked the color and maybe if it wasn't a 110 degree summer the smudge would've lasted longer and I wouldn't have bleach blonde next to dark roots (for the record I am naturally blonde but there is such a stark line between the dye and natural color ). I liked that Liel introduced me to "root smudges" which I think are a brilliant solution to rooted blondes everywhere! And the salon (albeit empty with no refreshments offered) was clean and pretty with lots of light I wish Liel nothing but the best and I hope this review will be helpful!
