We were busy getting ready for the day when she booked the zip line and she was unaware of my current weight, and the online booking process did not require participant weights before payment. When we arrived, I was weighed before the tour began and was informed that I exceeded the maximum weight limit and could not participate. It was clear to the acting manager that I was not aware of the weight limit. I completely understand and respect that the weight limit is in place for safety. What disappointed me was how my request was handled afterward. I asked if the company would consider a goodwill refund since I was turned away before the activity even began and that I was not aware of the policy. I was told that my request would be emailed to the owners and that I would receive a response within two days. No one ever contacted me. I followed up after waiting 5 days and at that time was told the owners were away for the week. When I contacted the company again, Acting Manager Brandon told me that the email requesting the owners' review that he said he sent while we were there had never actually been sent. He also informed me that, despite the email never being sent as promised, the company would still be following its policy and would not refund my payment. I understand businesses have policies, and I respected the safety decision without argument. My disappointment is with the lack of follow-through and customer service. I was promised a response that never came, had to repeatedly follow up myself, and ultimately received a denial after being told the owners had never even received the original request. No response from the owners as promised and when I had to call again I was told by Brandon that the owners would be sticking to their policy and I could dispute it with my credit card company if that is what I wanted to do. When I asked for an email so that I could contact the owners I was told that was not possible. If you're considering booking, make absolutely certain every participant meets all requirements before purchasing. The company weighs participants upon arrival, and if someone is over the limit, don't expect a refund--even if the activity never begins and you are visiting from out of state. I respect the need for safety rules. Unfortunately, I cannot say the same about the way this situation was handled. What was most disappointing was the complete lack of willingness to consider the individual circumstances. Customer service isn't just about enforcing policies--it's also about recognizing when an honest mistake has occurred and exercising reasonable discretion. Despite the circumstances, there appeared to be no meaningful review of the situation and no consideration of a one-time exception. We visit Colorado every couple years and we will make sure to choose another company when looking for an adventure.

We all had a lot of fun and Adam let us know we could get a discount for going again since we live in CO- we might try the intermediate in the future Definitely recommend wearing a swimsuit underneath the wetsuit and also bringing a rain jacket - these items saved me! Also recommend bringing water shoes if you own any- (they have some for rent too) since water is very cold and your lower body will get soaked

Expert guides with over 130 years of river experience between their crew. Now on to the water. Starts off a little slow but once it gets going it is on. Several category 3 rapids followed by a bunch of 4's with awesome drops all while navigating big rocks. You end with a nice comfortable float through a neighborhood in Idaho Springs Co. We were on the water for a good hour and half, so I suggest getting the wetsuit package as the water is always 38 degrees. Thanks Mad Adventures Clear Creek for a rafting trip we won't forget!!!

They have a strict age requirement of 14 and our 12 year old made that a challenge. Having done class 3-4 at Royal Gorge I would say this did not disappoint. It was constant and continuous adventure. I would have loved to kept going longer but like all good things they do come to an end. The 1.5 hours was mot too short either don't get me wrong. If you are scared of the cold don't cheap out--get the extra gear to make your experience better. My wife and kids did the gear. Since we were here in July in the water at noon I toughed it out. Don't vet me wrong it was cold and at times what I would have done to be warm. I feel the cold splash is a part of the experience. Sitting in the front I was also glad for a pair of sunglasses. They say this is some of the best rafting they have had in awhile. What really made this exemplary was the staff. They made you all feel like family. Zak in particular was our favorite. He gave the right balance of safety and firmness needed for a guide. He also helped my 70 year old mother in law work through her fears and continue with getting in the raft. She was reluctant as she only has one hand. Zak calmed her and gave her options. My kids also loved the bus driver Max. Not so sure they loved him ao much it was more his dog Willow. If you want a great and safe experience do it with Mad Adventures where they make you feel like family.

They provide wetsuits and water shoes, although your feet are the main thing that gets wet (depending on water conditions). I'd recommend to bring a towel once you get back to the camp for when you change back into your normal clothes. Next time, we'll check out the intermediate portion of the river. Brainard NRA is stunning. I was surprised how fast the tickets go for this place during the summer…read moremonths - I went in mid September and the tickets for the morning times were fully gone within minutes after they dropped online a few weeks before I went Given RMNP tix go like that I was ready at 0900 for when they dropped, and actually within 1 min the 8-11a time slot sold out so I couldn't get it! But I did get the 5-8a slot which was fine. The area itself is very easy to find and navigate, and it is well maintained by the staff. When you arrive they do scan your day pass ticket and give you a pass to hang on your rear view mirror. The lot was plenty empty at Long lake trailhead (the start to get to Lake Isabelle) when I arrived around 0730. The day was fairly cool but not cold, and partly cloudy. It was absolutely gorgeous, the hike there was even more beautiful than the lake itself! I saw a moose along part of the trail too. The lake itself was surprisingly low, I'm not sure why the water level was that low but it looked much lower compared to the pictures/tiktoks I've seen online. That said, it is still very picturesque. There were lots of places to roam around the lake, and even tho it became SUPER windy when I got to the lake, I had a good time running around (but note - my nose was running like CRAZY, if you have allergies, come with tissues!). I did end up walking from long lake trailhead to the lake Mitchell trailhead and making the hike out there too; Isabelle is prettier imo but it was still a fun walk and the trailhead at Mitchell has plenty of parking too. There is a little trail, about 15 mins walk between long lake trailhead and Mitchell trailhead, although you do briefly have to walk along part of the road. Brainard lake itself is also lovely, I saw a moose hanging out right by this lake too!

It was high up (over 9000k ft) and I've never experienced elevation like that before so taking a few steps made me out of breath very quickly. The views were incredible though! Seeing the valley of Denver and the Rocky Mountains on the other side were breathtaking. There wasn't much snow for March as you could only see it on mountains that were much farther west and taller. It really gives you an idea of how high up the mountain is when you see people and trees look like the size of ants. The drive to the top was also wild with a twisty road that definitely felt like something that would be extremely difficult if it were icy out which thankfully it wasn't when we visited! Highly recommend checking out if you are in the boulder area.

Just drive 5 minutes past the crowded Chautauqua parking area up Flagstaff Road (look out for deer!) and park at Realization Point. Here are a few tidbits to ensure that you have a "fan experience" during your visit to Forsythe Canyon: ++ While they do offer parking at the trailhead, it is a bit of a mess. Since it is near Boulder (and all trailheads in Boulder fill up quick) I highly recommend arriving early to ensure you don't have to wait to park. Also a high clearance vehicle isn't really necessary, but be careful of the rocky areas that may cause your vehicle bottom out. ++ The trail its self is well marked for the most part making it easy to just enjoy your day in nature. Bonus is that it follows a small stream most of the way to Gross Reservoir making it quite cool on a warmer summer day. ++ There are several really great photo spots including: various spots along the creek, the rocks above the small waterfall, below in front of the waterfall, and lastly at Gross Reservoir. ++ Bring some snacks for a little picnic by the reservoir. There's some great areas along the banks to recharge and relax before heading back to the car! While I wouldn't say that Forsythe Canyon is an absolute must see; it was a pretty enough hike that I'd recommend it to anyone looking for the following: a simpler short hike, not to far from the Denver/Boulder area, water and lots of foliage! It easily checked those boxes for me! **Pro Tip(s): Do not park along the road leading to the trailhead - unless it is in a designated area. Residents further up the road appear to get very frustrated by the congestion caused by parking on this narrow dirt road. Leashed dogs ARE allowed. So go ahead and bring your furry friend along for the adventure, but please respect the leash requirement.
