Rarely have I ever left a restaurant before placing an order, but our recent experience at The…read moreBoathouse Restaurant made that decision easy. We've dined there many times--the food is decent, though overpriced--and the service has always been hit or miss. Unfortunately, our last visit (and it will be our last) crossed the line. My wife asked for a sweet tea with no lemon, and I ordered a diet coke. The server returned with our drinks, and sure enough, her tea had a large lemon wedge floating in it. She politely reminded the server of her request, who then stormed off, came back with a new glass, and slammed it down on the table. That kind of behavior is unacceptable. We don't have time for childish tantrums, so we stood up and walked out.

I do have to say the service was on the part. We found the site inviting and comfortable--very relaxed and welcoming. We started with the Whole Big Pretzel with beer and cheese. It appeared to be fresh, but not sure. My wife has fried pickle chips. They are wenn breaded, and the breading did not slide off them when you took a bite--a hallmark of properly fried pickles. We next moved on to the salad. I had the Caesar, and she had the Sunrise mixed greens salad. I opted for the Blue Cheese dressing, and she the honey mustard. Sadly the Blue Cheese was not all that great; the honey mustard was far better and would be my choice in the future. For Entree, my wife had the grilled salmon, which was perfectly seasoned, grilled, and not dried out like most grilled salmon. The Jalamango glazed is unique. Finally, I opted for the Chicken & Shrimp Carbonara. I must say the Alfredo sauce was decent. However, I do suspect it is premade and not made in-house. It is recommended enter, though, and give the choices. I would have probably opted for the Mystic View rice, either steak or chicken, in the future. Or even the Fish Tacos. The best sides are the Mac & Cheese, Home Style Fries, and loaded Bakes potatoes are the best choices. In hindsight, I would have selected the White Oak Ribeye Steak, which weighs about 12 oz but is a better option for meat lovers in a Fish Place. We topped it off with Chocolate Lava Cake, which I loved, and my wife had the Peacn Cheesecake, which was terrific. All in all a positive experience, and I would be recommended if you are in the area.

It crunches when you eat, and that indicates the freshness. The chicken fingers are great and plentiful. Tender yet crunchy. Now, the salad bar. 5.99 one trip. 9.99 for all-you-can eat. I am a big guy. The plates are large and square. One trip filled me up. Make sure you get some of the chicken salad off of the bar and captains crakers. It is fresh and filling. The location is right on highway 111. The food is made fresh. Plan on about 45 minutes to order and eat unless you are just eating salad. If you are driving through and hungry, it is worth the wait. The interior is covered with pictures of H.S. sports lore.

That doesn't work for my wife. She tried it anyway picking out the sausage. But, to no avail, the cook used way too much flour to make the gravy with. It really tasted horrible. We asked for crispy hash browns, we got soggy over buttered hash browns. I had a 3 egg omelette with bacon, sausage, onions and tomato. The egg was not fluffy at all. The eggs had no life in them, it was as flat as a pancake. The hot chocolate is from a bag, they serve powered hot chocolate. Terrible choice for any restaurant. I will say, the other reviewers are spot on here on Yelp. This place misses the mark in too many places. Service was very underwhelming also. No personality whatsoever. A 15% tip was it. I highly recommend avoiding this joint. It's money spent and wasted.. Run!!! Keep running!

For an authentic taste of Germany, I highly recommend this hidden gem. Cumberland Plateau. Chef Kurt offers a different menu every night, based on locally sources ingredients available. For the main course, I had Kurt's Ribeye and my wife had the Grilled Chicken Breast with the fresh garden pilaf, for desert we had Crème brûlée accompanied with Cafe Mocha, that truly topped off a gourmet dinner. The decor amazing as it is located inside an 1800s school house, the decor takes you back to long ago around the 1800s. It is a charming restaurant with delicious food.

It seemed like a great concept, old school German guy pumping out awesome, unique German dishes. However, you will not get that here. The poor cook had Parkinson's Disease as noted by the waitress several times. The place was cold, dreary, and had a massive amount of issues. Literally there are so many I cannot list them. I just would not go. After leaving, I kept Googling to see if others had this experience. I came across this ghastly article: https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.wate.com/news/food-for-thought/flies-expired-cheese-steak-intended-for-reuse-in-soup-earn-fentress-co-restaurant-lowest-failing-score-of-the-year/amp/ Like an old dog that can harm others, they need to put her down.
