Out of all the other accommodations we saw around Todos Santos, this was by far the most beautiful and tranquil. La Poza is situated on a lagoon filled with spectacular bird life--from frigates and pelicans to ducks and comic coots. There are kayaks onsite to reach the nearby beach in 5 minutes or you may walk through palm forest along a path to the beach, which is favored by whales for afternoon displays. At sunset, green flashes are common. The food and drinks are consistently fabulous. And all the staff are bright and remarkably personable. For example, Carlos, a former professor and accomplished sommelier, assisted us in our Spanish classes between sips of Malbec at the pool-bar. Damarys, Sara, Juan Manuel, Eder, Ullyses-- each one exceded our expectations of service and friendliness. We could not have anticipated a more comfortable and welcoming experience

We could enjoy kayaking in the morning, margaritas by the pool in the afternoon, and a personal campfire in front of our room in the evening. The food was absolutely amazing from start to finish. We began with the plantain appetizer stuffed with cheese and served over a rich mole sauce. It was out of this world. If I could change one thing, I'd make the plantains a little larger--they were a bit smaller than the size of my palm--but the flavor more than made up for it. That mole sauce was everything: rich, slightly sweet, complex, and the perfect complement to the cheese-filled plantains. I could have eaten a bowl of that sauce by itself. For our entrées, we had the chicken penne Alfredo and the ribs with raspberry barbecue sauce. The Alfredo was creamy, rich, perfectly seasoned, and served in a generous portion. The ribs were equally impressive--tender, flavorful, and paired beautifully with the unique raspberry barbecue sauce. My only complaint is that I wish there had been more ribs because they were that good. Great food, great flavors, and a memorable meal. If you're anywhere near Todos Santos or Playa Cerritos, I highly recommend making a stop at Santos Pecados.
