Such a great time, would definitely recommend! A decent drive out from Markham is this horse riding…read moreranch with several horses and huge, expansive, beautiful property that includes a forest! We came here in September on a warm and comfortable evening. It was pretty empty when we arrive and we signed in a little house at the front, then we were led by a staff member to the horses after a short introduction video and in-person intro to help us put on our helmets and stow our stuff safely away (like keys and phones). We then boarded our horses and were lucky that there were only 2 of us so we basically got a private horseback riding excursion! The staff member who guided was quite experienced and knew how to manage and control the horses well. We walked around the forest a lot, traversing up and down hills, doing a bit of trotting and riding on the horse which was quite an experience! It was enjoyable and relaxing to ride these horses! I think my horse and I got along pretty well, since the horses are pretty well trained and walk these paths a lot you don't really need to guide them too much; and they also follow the other horses pretty well. Time of the day matters too! We came near the end of the day so the horses were getting tired, sluggish and less inclined to walk around (they just wanted to eat and rest!). I'd definitely recommend long pants and bug spray for this activity; and to dress in comfortable clothing. Overall, the experience was fantastic and I'd definitely come back!

Ryan Horse We came…read moreby for a trail ride and I have mixed reviews. I told them I know how to ride and they gave me a horse named Ryan, who was really sluggish and required tons of leg work to keep up with the group. It was absolutely exhausting and super frustrating. We came by here to celebrate our one year wedding anniversary and I did not enjoy it. My husband and was given a different horse named Ranger, and he didn't have to do anything to keep his horse moving. He had a much better experience than me. Another con is they don't let you interact with the horses before the ride or after the ride. I would have liked to be able to pet the horses or pet them and get some close ups with the horses. When you are on the trail ride they take your photo at two spots and this is included with admission cost. However we paid full price and I heard other people say how much they paid and they had used a groupon and paid half as much as us. After the ride, they offered us a promo to come back but I did not take the flyer because I did not want to go back. I feel bad writing this review because I don't want anything bad to happen to any of the horses if their business does badly but I did not have a good time. I don't recommend riding the horse named Ryan. The company also said to not to bring your phones but everyone else brought their phones. I was disappointed I didn't have mine.

A small group of us went here for one hour trail riding. Truly enjoyed my time here as it's not…read moresomething we can do everyday. The GPS actually took us to the wrong ranch at first. It's NOT the first ranch on the left on Burnhamthorpe w/ the two GSDs! One more over or till u see the green roof barns. We were greeted by two friendly dogs who led us to the back (how cute is that? seriously?). We paid the fee ($40 cash or $42+HST) & signed a waiver (naturally) and they had a demo on riding. Helmet rental was free (mandatory for children & recommended for adults). However, due to the light rain that day, a few helmets were wet...on the inside. Or is that sweat? hmm.... The trail was definitely scenic and quite spacious. It was truly beautiful! It is probably so amazing here around the fall. They also offer lessons, boarding, hay/sleigh rides. Great for groups and parties. The horses were all quite gentle. Anyhow, we were warned they are like high school kids and have their own little clique. The more dominant horses wouldn't like if others were ahead of them in the trial ride line. So we had to watch out for that. How cute! Just like my dog lol What I liked about the one hour trail ride was... we got to jog at least 3 times (aftermath: a sore bum but it was fun!). I've been to another ranch where they only let you jog once & trails were mostly in a tight forest...but not so much for this one. Lots of fields. A bit of everything... and of course lots of horse sh*t. Massive... lol We were allowed to look at the horses in the stables as well. Some flies in there but that is expected. We had a bit of rain so they went away after a while. There were prob around 20 horses there. They seemed happy & healthy. Lots of different sizes. Love them all esp my horse :D I miss my Lucy! She was prob one of the bigger horses. Not sure why I was paired w/ her as I was nearly doing the splits while climing down (thank god for yoga!). But I LOVE Lucy & happy they put me with her anyway. Can't wait to come back again!

For $80+ hst, they teach you how to steer your horse and then you have the horse hike along a path…read morethat is mostly tree covered with bushes and grass to the side. The horses essentially follow each other. You get to hold the reins and play cowboy for about 35 mins. Overall it's a ride on a horse along a path, not much else. If you are scared of horses or just want the experience i'd say try it out but tbh there is sooooo much more you can do with $80 with an hour imo.

The pit holes in the driveway could swallow up a small car, the owners yard, full of stuff everywhere, nothing picked up. The person who booked the party for 50 people wasn't greeted, NOTHING was set in motion for a child's birthday party and the 20 friends they invited, plus parents and family. The manager had no idea a party was coming until 20 minutes prior to arrival. The place is filthy, the barn is a disaster. I feel sorry for the poor animals that live in that place considering the $$$ people drop in there for riding lessons, camp, parties etc. DO NOT GO HERE, you'll regret it!!!!! Too bad I have to give 1 star, they'd get NEGATIVE 5

I recently hosted my twin daughters' 5th birthday party at Autumn's Gate, and unfortunately, the…read moreexperience was incredibly disappointing--especially considering we paid several hundred dollars, even with a promotional rate. From the moment we arrived, not a single employee greeted us or provided any direction. In fact, another parent who happened to be there with her daughter was the only person who offered any assistance. I initially thought she worked there because she was the only person helping us. Thank goodness she was there, because without her, things would have gone even worse. The party was originally booked to be held outdoors, weather permitting. Since rain was in the forecast, I proactively contacted the owner beforehand to confirm there was a backup plan. On the day of the party, however, the weather turned out to be beautiful--sunny with some wind, but overall a gorgeous day. When we arrived, we were directed into a barn that was in very rough condition. The owners knew we were expecting approximately 50 guests, yet there was no way that many people could have comfortably fit in the space provided. Since no staff member was communicating with us, I called the owner myself and asked if we could move the party outdoors. She explained that the tent couldn't be set up due to high winds, which I completely understood. She then told us a staff member would walk us to the outdoor area so we could see the alternative setup. This was about 10 minutes before guests were scheduled to arrive. When we got outside, it was obvious the space had not been prepared. There were bicycles and miscellaneous items scattered around, no garbage cans, and three employees were hurriedly wiping down tables while guests were already arriving. It felt as though no one had planned for us to use the space at all, despite that being where we had originally booked the party. To make matters worse, one of the owners casually told us, "If you need anything, I'll be in the woods through that path," and disappeared. No one explained the schedule, the activities, or what to expect. There was supposed to be a tour included, and I had to track someone down to ask about it. We later learned that the owners didn't even inform staff about our party until midnight the night before. The employee assigned to lead the tour appeared understandably frustrated because she had only been told about it roughly 20 minutes before she was expected to conduct it. Thankfully, the kids still had fun, but as the host, I was embarrassed in front of my family and friends. The entire event felt disorganized, unprepared, and poorly managed. The property itself was also concerning. The potholes in the driveway were so severe that my brother's car nearly bottomed out. The grounds were overgrown with weeds, and there was junk scattered throughout the property. Given the cost of hosting events and riding lessons there, it raises the question of where that money is being invested, because it certainly does not appear to be going toward property maintenance or guest experience. To top it all off, after providing virtually no support throughout the event, the owner wanted another parent to take photos of the party for advertising purposes. That request felt incredibly inappropriate given the experience we had. Near the end of the party, one of the owners finally approached us and asked if we needed anything. By that point, we were already packed up and leaving. I booked this party nearly a month in advance and expected a professional, organized experience. Instead, I received the complete opposite. If you are considering booking a birthday party or event here, I would strongly encourage you to reconsider. The children may enjoy the animals and activities, but the lack of preparation, communication, customer service, and overall upkeep made this one of the most disappointing event experiences I've ever had. I cannot recommend Autumn's Gate, and I would not spend my money there again.
