A very quiet, peaceful stay. I was disappointed in the golf course conditions. We played the Resort Course, the original course here. The staff were friendly, welcoming and helpful. And, I will say the greens were top notch; however, several tee boxes and fairways were very dry and we encountered frequent bare spots. The sand traps needed weeding and a fresh layer of sand. There were no ball washers on any of the tee boxes. For the price, we expected better.

I like this course. Despite what some might say, it's not a links course. But it is a fine example…read moreof good course design employing little elevation change. Greens are somewhat fast but consistent. There are plenty of places to employ your green-reading skills and it pays to pitch your ball to the correct location. Fairways are similarly is great condition. I saw few places where you'd have a bad lie with a good fairway shot. The second cut of rough is really rough here - it's basically a lava field. Do not miss the fairway. The first cut, however, is very playable. In fact, I think I'd prefer the first cut over the fairway proper for short pitches and chips. I understand this is a winter phenomenon (playable rough) and when spring sets in and the grass grows out, you won't want to be in the first cut, either. Update: no, the course condition in the summer (last round was over 100 degrees) is still great and the first cut is a fine place to land your ball. Bunkers in good shape with good sand. If you know how to execute a bunker shot, you'll have little problem here. As with any bunker, if it has rained or snow has melted, the sand plays different. There are some fairway bunkers. Water is not a big factor at Juniper. There are a couple of holes on the back nine where it comes into play but even then, easy to avoid. No water carries here. Good driving range, practice green and practice short game area. Carts are electric, are in good condition and feature retractable side curtains during winter.

I stayed here for three nights last month while visiting my daughter…read more I didn't take advantage of many of the resort's amenities, including the pools, spa, golf courses, or sports centers, so I can't speak to those. From an aesthetic standpoint, the resort is definitely dated, and there was a bit of a "grandma's attic" smell throughout. That said, the front desk staff were friendly and welcoming. I was pleasantly surprised by the size of my room. It was more like a small suite, with a kitchenette that included a mini fridge and microwave, as well as a separate living area with a couch, chair, and TV. The bedroom was spacious and had a comfortable king bed, another TV, and nightstands. There were two separate vanities--one in the bathroom area and another between the bathroom and bedroom, across from the closet. The free Wi-Fi was consistent and worked well throughout my stay. Overall, it was a decent and comfortable stay. The resort could definitely use some updating, but the spacious room, friendly staff, and reliable Wi-Fi made for a pleasant visit.

Give this place a try. Scott has put together many tools to help out an armature hack such as my self, or a scratch golfer. Call him up and schedule an appointment, he has done wonders for my game. He definitely has a knack for teaching and seems to really enjoy what he does. Ive had many people work on my game and none have given me these kind of results. He not only gives me tips on my swing and technique, but an overall understanding and confidence that really shows results. Different rates just to play, or for a lesson. This guy is a PGA pro who knows the game well. Have a foursome that gets restless in the winter, he holds scramble tournaments all winter long, cheap entry fees ($25), get some guys (or gals) together and get in the action. Give this place a try, its always good for a rainy afternoon.
