We have multiple issues in the building that are not being addressed. Management is on-site sporadically and mostly MIA and unresponsive. They have raised the rent, but the building is going downhill fast. Constant issues with front doors. Multiple times I couldn't get into the building because the doors weren't working. Now, for a week, both sets of entrance doors in the lobby are completely open and anyone can walk in. Zero security in an areas full of foot traffic. The elevators have not been working for some time. Residents have to push doors manually for them to close. Multiple people have gotten stuck in the elevator, and it's only a matter of time till it happens again. Also, the constantly changing set of 'concierges' often don't know how to open doors, have no access to the mailroom and can't answer any questions. It's obvious that it's not their fault and that they are not provided the necessary information and/or information. Multiple times, I have had to show them where things are and even help them get into the building because they didn't have access to the building itself. While I understand it might be hard to find people for this position, whoever comes in should be provided necessary training and information by the building management. At it is, we are paying for a 'concierge' service that is just checkbox on paper. The windows in the building have not been washed in 3+ years. Many people have asked for it - why it has to take so many complaint, not clear. Overall, there are many issues and, while the building is old and it's bound to happen, the management is absent and is not taking care of things. Many people have moved out recently and, if things keep going they way they are, many more will do too

Devonshire is the absolute most bang you can get for your buck in Boston. It's real luxury (not…read morelike these new trendy apartment buildings with paper-thin walls). My wife and I have lived here for two years and have only good things to say about it. Excellent amenities, a great community, and responsive building management. This is the first place that I have lived where I thought everyday, "I love this place." Here's what I love: The Gym/Top Floor Fitness - They have an actual gym that is spacious enough to workout in, a yoga studio, and an indoor lap pool that is rarely in use (I swam laps during the first snow storm of the season). In addition to this they have professional workout classes everyday of the week except Friday. There's yoga (which I haven't done) and strength/high-intensity interval training type classes (abs Monday, lower body Tuesday, upper body Thursday and full body Saturday). I go to the strength classes pretty religiously. Colin, the owner of Top Floor Fitness and instructor for the strength classes, is excellent with correcting form and pushing you to get a good workout. The classes are also a great way to meet other people in the building. Culture - Devonshire seems to be very effective at cultivating a good culture. They hold seasonal parties, with a wide-range of people. The building is normally quiet. We've met and become friends with a lot of young professionals and expats (but there are also older people and empty nesters). The leasing office and people at the front desk are always nice, helpful and very responsive. Building Management - The building is very clean--I've never seen any bugs, mice or anything. There have been a few occasions in the past where I needed to call maintenance. They've always been quick to respond and the issue has always been resolved pretty immediately. There was one occasion when I smelled marijuana coming through the vent in the bathroom. Not wanting to make a huge deal about it, I emailed the building manager. He responded immediately, told me it was being looked into and told me to call the front desk if it happened again--it never did. When we first started looking around Boston for apartment complexes we looked at a lot of places. The major impression I got from most of the other complexes was that they were interested in churning people in and out; they'd lure you in with a good deal and then raise your rate extensively when your lease came up for renewal. I held out writing a review for Devonshire because I was curious how much our rent would go up. For the first year we had a very modest rise (less than 3% increase) and the following year there was no increase at all. I guess they want their tenants to stay. You can't go wrong with this place.

This location is right in the center of the financial district, surrounded by restaurants and shopping. Fanueil Hall and the North End are close. MBTA stations are near by. State Street (Blue / Orange) is a couple of blocks. Aquarium (Blue) is only one block. We have a two-bedroom apartment. The shared space is the kitchen and dining area, with a pair of sofas and a large flat panel television. Each of the two bedrooms has a private bathroom. The kitchen has all the stuff you would need from cookware to flatware and glassware. Stove-top, range and dishwasher with a full-size fridge/freezer. Internet is included. The apartment is mostly quiet. There's some street noise as is normal in any big city - State Street is very busy. A little bit of water noise occasionally from a neighboring apartment over and up, but it is minor. The vertical blinds keep out most of the light but the morning light hits the window quite hard. Curtains would be helpful.

They told me all the little things you would need to know before arriving as well as what to do once you actually got to the door. Also their service on-site has been SO helpful. They always ask before coming into your apartment to service anything, from cleaning your comforter, housekeeping, fixing the internet modem, delivering packages, you name it... The furniture is similar to a hotel, but its fully equipped and they provide all the dishware as well as kitchen and cleaning equipment. So far I've had a superb experience, and I recommend it for your corp housing needs. And don't forget this location is located right next to Fanueil Hall and the Quincy Market, also near the Boston Harbor and the North End, so there's plenty to see and eat around here!

The amenities are first rate (private dining, gym, pool etc). The staff are always there to help. We like city living and it is next to the public garden and walkable to so many interesting places including historic landmarks and theaters/shops. We traveled all over the world and this is our favorite home.

We've been living here for the past year (almost as soon as they opened)…read more The pro's - the units are just lovely with incredible views from the upper floors, high end appliances, loads of space and closets, well appointed baths etc. Staff are really great (a shout out to Maria, Stacey, Hector, Jorge, Walter, Michael etc, etc.) for the most part and it's really handy to have the services in the building including the pool (often empty!), amazing gym, restaurant/bar and the other amenities. Loving the Friday/Saturday movie options. Con's - two really stand out. First, it's just off washington street and washington street is the same as it has been for 50 years (although the titty bars are pretty much gone - the combat zone has closed down..) and most likely will continue to be - pretty seedy & dirty, lots of homeless who sadly make the nearby streets their home and crazy folks (saw one man banging his head against a building just last week - yes there was blood, yes the police were called) and the large number of drug addicts and sex offenders who make the St Francis House (a 5 minute walk away) their home. (16 level 3 sex offenders are registered there). It's really too bad. I literally don't let my teenager walk around the corner to Starbucks (less than 150 yards away) on her own as she is harassed and followed. The obvious ambiance of the big discount & "dollar" stores is another con..but hey, nothing says luxury like looking at Marshalls and TJMax when you're having a $150 tasting menu at Pabu! As they say... location, location, location. If it were just two blocks over.. The other con which only recently started is the valet service. At first it was great - cars were on time, never an issue with what showed up when, now it's kind of in shambles. Over the past 2 months, it's taking a long time to get cars, the cars are stacked up waiting to be parked,, taxis can't get through etc. No one seems to know what's going on or can provide an answer as to what is being done to fix this. I've heard "oh it's just busy right now" - but when it's happening 8 times out of every 10? "Oh, the building is full now" - doesn't that beg the question of hiring the right number of staff? Probably more disappointing is that the GM just doesn't care or at least seems not remotely interested. If I were the owner of a multi-million dollar property here (we rent, thank god), I wouldn't be very pleased. All in all, I'm glad we live here as it's a good stop-gap before our next move out of state/country, but I'd think twice before making an investment or a long-term home. And I definitely wouldn't do it with children - it's just not in a safe area.

Not Portside, not that new Clipper Ship development, not the border street project, not anything. The rooftop deck on the 17th floor with stunning views of the Seaport, Downtown, Zakim bridge, airport and Charlestown is something you can't get anywhere else. The 2nd floor pool deck, I literally spend every sunny day up there and it's not crowded Monday through Friday and has amazing views of the harbor and friendly neighbors to chat with. Great indoor amenities too if you want to host a dinner party, they have a gas stove and a pool table with a ginormous TV and sofas. Our Super Bowl party was a blast. There is a puppy washing room too if you are into dogs, and lots of green space outside for walking said dogs. We've met so many dogs since moving here. It's like a dog paradise. We moved here from Charlestown in November 2016 and they offer a 15 month lease which is awesome. Our first floor apartment has it's own door to the outside which would be even more useful if we had a dog. Everyday I can sit on my sofa and watch giant ships cruise by within yards of my window. It's breathtaking. The management and leasing staff are friendly, accommodating and always asking how they can make the Eddy better. They often organize great events for residents and provide free donuts, candy and ice cream throughout the year in the lobby. If something breaks, Jose the maintenance guy is right there to fix it and is friendly! 24/7 concierges are very nice and will notify you when packages arrive and Brandon will always open the door for you if he's not on the phone. We love Brandon. Brandon, please don't ever leave. Update: The restaurant here has improved, plus we moved 15 stories up so we can't hear the restaurant noise anymore. Five stars for the Eddy! We love it here, won't you be my neighbor??

READ THIS BEFORE MOVING HERE…read more I lived at The Eddy for almost a year, and while the location is convenient and the views are beautiful, my overall experience was extremely disappointing. For a building marketed as luxury, both the apartment quality and level of service fall well below expectations. The apartments have cheap finishes, and several recurring issues made everyday living frustrating. The washer and dryer frequently left clothes with an unpleasant smell, while the windows did not close or seal properly. This was particularly noticeable on higher floors, where cold air would enter the apartment and wind would create a constant, irritating whistling noise. Another concerning incident involved maintenance opening my apartment door despite my explicitly stating in my maintenance request that I did not authorize entry without my permission. Respecting residents' privacy should be a basic expectation, not something residents have to worry about. The concierge service was particularly disappointing. A younger male concierge who typically works mornings repeatedly provided inaccurate information and even had the audacity to ask me for a gift. A reminder: **your job is to assist residents, not expect personal favors for performing responsibilities you're already paid to fulfill. Working in a luxury building does not automatically mean you provide luxury service.** Professionalism is demonstrated through conduct, and unfortunately, his left much to be desired. Management's communication was equally frustrating. I sent multiple emails regarding my concerns and have records of that correspondence. Although the leasing office eventually addressed the concierge matter, I was never properly updated or informed of the outcome. Residents should not have to repeatedly follow up for basic communication and accountability. To be fair, The Eddy offers a convenient location and beautiful views. Unfortunately, those are about the only aspects I can genuinely compliment. A nice view cannot compensate for poor apartment quality, recurring maintenance problems, questionable professionalism, and inadequate communication. **I would not recommend The Eddy.** At this price point, residents deserve more than an attractive building with subpar apartments and service that fails to meet basic expectations.
