Driving down the street and I saw a big sign saying Reptile Room. I had to check it out. If I had it my way i'd own a snake. They had all types of reptiles! Snakes, chameleons, frogs, lizards, tarantulas! A plethora of tanks and reptile set ups. The guy working the front dest was nice and knowledgeable. He had no problems answering our questions. If you are looking for a pet, consider checking out this location.

We got our bearded dragon from The Reptile Room almost two month ago. He was a surrender so he lost two nails before but overall very healthy. We got a discount from him cause they really just want a good home for the beardie. And he is very amazing with people making me feel like he was very much loved before we got him. I promised to update how he has been too busy to visit back to the shop. Here are some upstate on how he has been doing.

Jeez the amount of people that left good reviews and said this guys gives good husbandry advice is insane. This place need to shut down asap. The mulch in the enclosures is dryer the owners mother. Please do NOT shop here!!

No water, no food, not enough warmth and light in this tiny enclosure! Sulcata right in front looked like it was dying....AWFUL AND SAD!!

Extremely sad for the animals at this store... I came in looking for a little supply of Mazuri feed for my sulcata tortoise and just happen to see a tank full of juvenile sulcatas with no water, no food, and not enough light and looking unhealthy. It breaks my heart because the place was stinky and full of cobwebs. It needs to be shut down and why hasn't animal control come and confiscated these uncared for reptiles and amphibians??

This is the dropping our beardie off at Reptile room.

WARNING!!!!!!! Do not bring your pets here to board!!!!! We paid them $100 to watch our bearded dragon for 10 days and came back to a traumatized & almost dead dragon. They had put him in a chameleon cage with no heater despite telling us that he'd be housed in a 30 gallon breeder. They said they'd feed him the same food we did which was Dubai roaches. When we called to say we were on our way they threw some crickets in his cage, We feel that's probably the only time he was fed. The girl on duty when we got there said "the owner told me to tell you that his snout is bloody because he kept bumping it into the glass, I'm sorry". Are you serious????????? A reptile store owner who knows that a boarded beardie is bumping his nose on glass and doesn't move him to a bigger enclosure. He felt it was OK to tell the owner that like it was no big deal. An individual as ignorant and irresponsible as this, either: A. Shouldn't run a reptile store since he seems ignorant to the fact that when a reptile bumps his nose on the glass enough times to make it bloody it means the enclosures way too small... or..... B. His store should be taken away from him if he feels like this kind of behavior is OK. That would indicate he doesn't care whatsoever about animals, (whether they're his or yours), but only about the money that he makes off them. We went to the vet and were told that our little guy was dehydrated and malnourished and that he had lacked the proper lighting so we needed to put him under lights immediately. My son called the store and told the owner what our vet had said. He started screaming at my son and told him that he was lying and slammed the phone down on him. Hopefully enough people will read this and spread the word to be on high alert about this Charlatan masquerading as a the "Reptile Room". Do not board your animals here if you want to see them alive again, and please don't support them or their abusive business practices.

Ask the Community - The Reptile Room

I have 2 male rats and I'd like one or two more (they're my pets) and I hear this place has feeder rats. Would they allow me to purchase two feeder rats as pets? I don't want to buy one from the pet store, I'd rather save one from death or adopt

East Bay Vivarium carries pet and feeder rats, I got mine a year and a half ago and they're in great health. About $10 each.

Update 3/12/2026: I…read morerecently bought a house in San Jose that came with a pond. Unfortunately the previous owner had passed away and left no instructions, so I had absolutely no idea where to start. I've never had a pond before and knew nothing about how to maintain one. I remember having a great experience with Aqua lab back in 2016 so I called them back up and Kent was incredibly helpful from the start. He took the time to walk me through everything and explain how the system works without ever making me feel dumb for asking very basic questions. We decided to do a one-time deep cleaning to restore the pond. Before the scheduled cleaning, Kent stopped by to check out the system and figure out what actually needed to be done. He ended up fixing a broken part, doing a full deep clean of the pond and the filter/skimmer, and adding beneficial water additives. Since I live about 3 hours away, he kept me updated throughout the process with photos and messages, which I really appreciated. He even left me some pond tools to use and offered to come back another time, at no extra charge, when I'm at the house so he can walk me through the system in person and show me how to do the regular monthly maintenance myself (or help with that if I decide I'd rather have him handle it). His pricing was very fair and actually came in lower than other local shops I contacted. Overall just a really great experience. I've attached before and after photos of the pond. Highly recommend Aqua Lab and working with Kent. What a great guy!

Hayward Veterinary Hospital - She's perfect

Dr. Harper is very professional, personable, honest, transparent, and communicative. Finding a trustworthy vet for a rabbit is not easy, and requires lots of research to find the right one. That being said, I really do trust Dr. Harper and his vet team. Today I brought my rabbit in for X-rays because I was concerned he may be arthritic. This examination isn't as straightforward as it would be for a dog or cat, and it involves sedation. Upon arrival, the nurse, Sav, walked me through all my questions upon drop off. I was transparent about my worries around sedation, and she was very honest based on her extensive anesthesiology expertise and experience-- not hiding the fact that there is indeed risk involved because he's a rabbit. Because we determined there's an alternative path from xray + sedation, we then decided to change my appointment type and just try out anti inflammatory medication (instead of jumping right into an xray). The conversation alone with Sav was incredibly helpful and insightful; she helped me make a more informed decision on what services I felt to be most appropriate for my bun and took her time going in-depth on explanations. I always come to my appointments with a bullet list of questions and each time, I really appreciate the doctor and nurses careful attention to answering them. They really take their time explaining everything, and I never feel pushed or coerced into anything I don't want for my rabbit. Again, the level of communication, patience, and transparency coupled with the teams expertise and experience really makes them stand out. Uncle Waffles and I appreciate HVH a [waffle] lot, thank you guys!

Gentle care made time for us the same day, I came late because my tom tom wanted to eat and use the bathroom but they didn't mention a thing. The doctor and vet tech that helped me were so sweet and warm. They let me spend as much time with him as I needed before and tom tom was not stressed at all, they allowed him to stay on me the entire time and pass in my arms. I received his ashes, paw print and a card. I am happy to bring tom tom back home. Thank you again.

I'm writing this review to share my deeply disappointing experience with Dr. Yoon at this clinic on…read moreDecember 10th and 11th, following an urgent medical situation with my mini dachshund, Maple -- I believed she had eaten a small hand towel. The day before visiting Gentle Care, Maple was seen at VEG Emergency Vet, where I paid $1,200 for her initial assessment. The ER vet advised that Maple would need one final X-ray the next morning to determine whether surgery was necessary, as she had already vomited and passed pieces of the towel she ingested. Their recommendation was clear, so I brought Maple to Gentle Care on December 10th expecting a simple follow-up and the final imaging. Instead, I encountered inconsistent communication, unclear diagnostic decisions, and fluctuating pricing that made an already stressful situation even harder--especially because I and my family were actively trying to pull together the funds for whatever treatment Maple might need. Accurate, stable estimates were essential so I could understand how to move forward and how my family could help cover the cost of her care. On December 10th, I arrived at 9:30 AM:     *    I was quoted $820 verbally for a full day of diagnostics, including an ultrasound and contrast X-rays.     *    I received no updates until I called at 3:00 PM and was told there was no information yet.     *    When I called again to confirm the cost, the total had increased to $1,100--a $280 increase I did not approve, with no added services beyond the original plan.     *    At pickup, instead of receiving the final X-ray the ER vet recommended, I was told I had to return the next morning before Dr. Yoon could determine whether surgery was necessary. This required me to call out of work at the last minute, which was stressful and disruptive. On December 11th, I returned for the final X-ray (provided at no charge) and paid an additional $360 for blood work and fluids.     *    After reviewing the images, Dr. Yoon presented two possible surgical options--endoscopic removal or direct surgery--but did not provide guidance on which option was best for Maple's condition.     *    I was given a verbal surgery estimate of $4,000.     *    When I asked for a written estimate so I could secure pre-approval from my pet insurance (PetsBest) and request a CareCredit limit increase, the printed estimate suddenly increased to $5,000, without any explanation. * Dr. Yoon also said the surgery could wait another day and that I would have to drive Maple to Danville to the other vets office he works with. The quote I received was from that hospital and not Gentle Care.     *    Dr. Yoon also told me he would only accept my insurance if I could get pre-approval on that estimate, which was not possible. All of this was incredibly difficult to navigate. My family and I were trying everything we could to ensure Maple received the care she needed--we were gathering funds, adjusting schedules, and making decisions in real time. The constant price changes and lack of clear direction made it feel nearly impossible to plan responsibly for her treatment. For context, before even arriving at Gentle Care, I had paid $1,200 at VEG ER. At Gentle Care, I then paid $1,100 on December 10th and another $360 on December 11th. Maple's care was never something I hesitated to pursue; we were simply trying to understand what the actual cost would be so we could pay for it. Given the ER vet's recommendation that Maple only needed a final X-ray--and considering she had already vomited and passed parts of the towel--I now seriously question whether an entire additional day of diagnostics was necessary. Ultimately, I took Maple to Noble Vet, where she received clear recommendations and had her foreign body surgery performed for $3,090.65. My family helped me cover the cost, and the experience there was transparent, supportive, and professional--everything I hoped for from the start. I believe the diagnostics performed at Gentle Care were excessive, delayed Maple's needed surgery, and resulted in inflated and inconsistent charges. I hope the clinic reviews the communication and pricing issues from December 10th and 11th so other pet owners don't face the same confusion during a medical emergency. UPDATE: We unfortunately had to put Maple to sleep on Dec. 14th after she became septic. After speaking with the vet at Noble Vet and VEG in San Ramon I believe the delay in surgery resulted in a more complex and risky surgery. I will be looking for another veterinarian for the remainder of my pets.
