BEWARE, BEWARE, BEWARE of this guy. My 2 year old washing machine was making a knocking noise and wasn't draining properly. Marcello came out and after I explained the problem, he misdiagnosed it as needing new suspension rods. He charged me almost $300 and gave me a one year warranty in writing. When the washer continued to do the same thing, I called him and asked him to honor his warranty. He came back out and without looking at the machine again, he misdiagnosed it as needing a new drain pump. But then in the next breath he said there's nothing wrong with this machine and he walked out the door. I was completely dumbfounded by his lack of knowledge and unprofessionalism. I tried again to get him to come back out and honor his warranty but he ghosted me. I had no choice but to find someone else to repair it. It turns out it was never suspension rods or a drain pump, it was a belt which was replaced for $124 and it has worked properly ever since. Saddened by my experience here last year. Young man serviced my 1.5 yr old whirlpool dishwasher. 3 months later, water is between my floor and subfloor. Owner came out and tightened some part up in the front and said that it wasn't their fault because he thinks the motor vibration caused the part to come loose and drip. However, this had never happened in the 1.5 years of me using the dishwasher daily. He Told me to call my own insurance agency and would help me with the deductible because he refused to call his. I told him that the young man who put in a new motor came back to readjust it. He had to take it out and reinstall it. It was late and he had a big gash on his face. I asked what happened and he said that a dishwaher fell on his head. He insisted to fix the dishwaher in spite of being injured. I told the owner that the man being injured probably forgot to tighten the part by mistake. The owner said absolutely not--his company hasnt made a mistake in 17 years. He also said that he would come back once the floor was ripped up and if it was substantial damage, then he would admit it was his company's mistake because only then would he believe that it had been dripping for 3 months rather than for just a week. Well, eventhough I sent him the pictures of the damage, he never responded to me or helped me with my deductible of $500. It was horrific experience. I had to be without a kitchen for a while and use my bathroom sink and tub for water. The lady who works for them is an amazing person but she is not the owner and is limited in what she can do. Referred to the Repair Guy by Southland Appliance who I usually call for appliance repair and have always had excellent results. Called for repair of my 8 year old Kitchen Aid Dual Fuel range. I was told they were short handed (down two service people) and told to call the Repair Guy. HUGE MISTAKE! I called the repair guy and they scheduled repair 1 week from the day I called for between 2 and 5 in the afternoon. No show and no call between 2 and 5. I called and received a return call from a North Carolina phone number and was told at 5:15 pm he was "on the way". I asked what the ETA was (it was dinner time) . He said he'd arrive within 20 minutes. He called back to say he was driving in from Moyock and stuck in traffic on 168. It took him 45 minutes not 20 to get here. When he arrived we told him the oven was not preheating and that when we turned it on an F2EO appeared on the touch pad and when the oven did work, after it got hot the touch pad would not work. He said the service call was $150. which we promptly paid. He never touched the range but said we needed a new touch pad and he could not get the part because everything was closed. He said they would let us know what the part cost the next day. Never heard anything the next day, called emailed. Finally got a call from the owner who said we needed the touch pad which would be $580 and probably the touch pad wasn't talking to the computer board so would need a computer board for another 800. but not sure. He said it might be better to call the manufacturer and maybe they would "give us a deal on another range under warranty" because we had previously had several problems. (The range is 8 years old and the last repair was over 2 years ago and I'm supposed to think that Kitchen Aid is going to "give me a deal" ). We asked for exact estimate in writing and after 2-3 days the lady in the office called gave a verbal and then emailed. The estimate for this repair of this range, that no one has even tested or touched, was $580 for the touch pad that must be paid for before ordering and $800 for the computer board. On top of the $150, we had already paid it would be another $95. for installation. No estimate of when parts would be in or repair made. A friend suggested that we turn the circuit breaker off, wait a few minutes, turn it back on, then try to heat the oven. It worked. I continued to receive calls from the lady who answers the phone at the Repair Guy to pay for parts order and schedule repair, yet the owner said we should call Kitchen Aid and didn't seem interested in doing the repair. The Repair Guy claims they are diagnostics exerts. How, I wonder, does one diagnose a problem with an appliance when you arrive, look at the appliance from across the room, tell us what the problem is then add insult to injury by repeatedly saying, "Do you understand?" and leave in less than 10 minutes? The last time the lady called back I refused the repair because my husband and I found them to first, be unreliable (scheduled 2-5, showed up late with no apology, Second, didn't make any attempt to test or examine the appliance, owner said call manufacturer, office lady dunning us to pay in advance for part and schedule repair. The bottom line is: They are not a competent or trustworthy repair service and we just threw away $150 FOR ABSOLUTELY NOTHING more than further aggravation. Our decision is to continue using the range until there is another problem, call another service company and if the range continues to be a problem to replace it. My Bosh dishwasher developed a leak. On the first quick visit, Marcello came and told me I needed to change dishwashing detergents (I had used the same detergent for 12+ years with no issues), leak continued. On the second equally quick visit Marcello told me I needed to wipe down the rinse aid dispenser, leak continued. On the third contact, Marcello told me he could not do anything further. I think he just didn't want the hassle of pulling the dishwasher out because it would entail shortening the legs to lift the dishwasher over the lip/edge of the tile floor. Scheduled return service call to replace belt after his repair failed. He was a no show. When I finally got someone on the phone they said he no longer served our area. He agreed to complete the repair only if I delivered the dryer to his house. After 5 months of being told "it will be ready Monday" I was told it was ready for pick up. Brought it home, as I was putting into place the front panel fell off. Four hours of work with my son, dis-assembling, retrieving screws he had dropped inside and straightening bent metal got it back together and operational. My refrigerator wasn't working so I called and their only appointments were 4 days out. They called that afternoon and were actually able to fit me in that day. It was $340 which seems like a lot for the 20 minutes that he was here, but it was worth it to us. The office was courteous and he was professional and knowledgeable. You aren't just paying for the part and installation...you are paying for his knowledge, his overhead and insurance, etc. If you want to trouble shoot, get the part and put it in yourself, then do it. If you want the convenience of someone else taking their time to figure out what the problem is and fixing it. And supporting a local small business then call The Repair Guy. I used to call Marcello to come out to my home and fix things. He helped me with a refrigerator and he helped me with my dryer. Great work which is why I called again. I called yesterday to request services for a Kenmore 2009 microwave. One of the latches wouldn't click into place to turn the microwave on. I was told over the phone it would be $85 for the service call. A new guy (don't know his name, he didn't introduce himself) shows up, spends about ten minutes partially dismantling my microwave door. Shows me where he needs a small part. Calls the store and finds out they don't have a piece to fix it. Tries to charge me $125.00 (cause apparently charge is based on the brand) for ten minutes of work, tells me sorry there's nothing he can do, and walks out after telling me I have to replace the whole microwave because of a one inch piece that is no longer made. I'm hoping this review isn't couched as a bitter customer who cannot objectively evaluate performance. Please note that I have had positive experiences with Marcello - not this tech that came out today. He's getting a bad review because he said he didn't know where the piece was and made no effort to find it. After he left, I jiggled the door and could clearly hear the piece in the door. He didn't even attempt to get it. And then since I have to replace the whole thing and I gave him the go ahead to try to do something with it, he didn't. He was more interested in collecting payment and quickly proceeding to the next call. He could have put a piece of wood or something behind it as the spring was still in tact and the bottom latch worked! Had a PHENOMENAL experience with Marcelo and Diego from The Repair Guy! When our Viking fridge and freezer started to fail to cool, my husband started calling repair services. Of the 14 places he called, only two answered, and the Repair Guy was one of them. They miraculously had an appointment available THE NEXT DAY. Sandra asked lots of questions, which gave us confidence that the technician would be prepared and have the correct parts ready. Marcelo and Diego showed up well inside the 4 hour estimated arrival window (and impressively, within 15 minutes of when Sandra said they'd probably arrive) and gave me a call when they were fifteen minutes away. We've had other services give us kind of jarring five-minute out calls when they were already four hours past their arrival window, no less. They had the correct replacement part, a compressor, and carefully and methodically installed it. They answered all my questions and even took the time to show and TEACH me where to look for future problems. Thanks to Marcelo, I now know what a properly functioning compressor looks like, how it should sound, and feel to the touch. I've had such great experiences working with Marcelo, I can't believe there are any negative reviews! He is the difference between a repairman and an appliance expert. My handyman referred me to him when he was not able to diagnose the problem with my dishwasher. Marcelo found the problem immediately and repaired it at a reasonable cost. He later fixed my refrigerator and diagnosed a freezer problem in the rental property I own. He could have just taken my money and gone ahead with replacing the expensive part that was broken, but he advised me to replace the whole fridge because there was a separate freon leak that would continue to need recharging. He gave up income to advise me on what was best for ME, the customer. It's the level of service that keeps me calling him when there is an appliance issue. This "Repair Guy" aka Marcelo comes off as a cool, efficient, family friendly guy. Called him for a broken Over The Range microwave on Jan 30, 2016. He came with his wife (which I thought was sooooo weird but whatever - I called and he came over as soon as was finished at the previous house. But I mean, who brings their spouses on jobs like this? First for me! Maybe she doesn't trust me and at the end of the day, I can't blame her). Anyway, he was able to make the repair, charged me $145 + a "one year part warranty and to call him anytime if it goes out again and he'll come fix it at no charge." Sooooo -- why was it that less than [2] months later, in early March, that it goes out again with the same problem, so I take him up on his offer - mind you it's handwritten by he himself on my receipt - and the jerk gives me the runaround for [3] weeks!!!! WEEKS!!! Calls between myself and my boyfriend were never returned, visits were never made however the one he was willing to make was at 7:30 PM on a Tuesday night as I was fixing dinner when he should have been there way before 4:30, no courtesy phone call to let me know no one was coming, and no apologies (maybe 1 but that could be my imagination). He finally sends another guy out to check out my microwave and the guy is pretty much useless. He says he cannot fix the problem and he will call & let his boss Marcelo know. Did I ever hear from Marcelo!? Hell no. I call and call and sometimes his "receptionist" would answer and take a message. She sucks, too. I called for a repair for my refrigerator. I was told $120 to perform a diagnostic. The owner of the company, Marcelo, came for the service appointment, had no equipment to perform any kind of diagnostic, noted the brand of the refrigerator was an LG, informed me that foreign refrigerators were junk and I should just buy a new American made one even though this refrigerator is only about two years old and is a top-of-the-line $3700 refrigerator. I had previously called the manufacturer to troubleshoot and purchased a part LG recommended to fix the problem. Marcello told me this part was very difficult to install and for an extra $80 he would do it to see if it fix the problem. I did agree based on his assessment of it being very difficult to install to pay an extra $80. Turns out it took him four minutes- he popped out a panel and plugged in the piece. And it still doesn't work. If I could give zero stars I would. I should have read and listened to all the warnings of those who reviewed before me saying the exact same thing and called somebody else and spent my $200 on someone who would actually fix it! read more

BEWARE! Marcelo is a crook and honestly should be shut down. We called with a broken wash machine, he charged us a $145 fee with the promise of a 90 warranty on his work. We called the NEXT DAY for him to return because the washer still wasn't working. He suggested we open the machine ourselves to fix it instead of upholding his promise. Then he pretends to diagnose the problem over the phone and tells us he will order us a part for the machine. We wait over 5 weeks for this "part" and have never seen or heard from Marcelo again. My husband found this guy off Google and we had him service our ice maker that was not working properly. He came out to repair it and the ice maker worked fine for a month before breaking again. We set up another appointment with him, but right after my husband deployed. I waited and waited for this guy to come. I PAID to take my child to a sitter so I could help the guy unload the stuff from the freezer. NEVER SHOWED UP, never even called to say he had to cancel or reschedule. He promised my husband that this visit, he would not charge the service fee. All he did was take our money and run. I'd give 0 stars if i could. Jose showed up 1.5 hrs late to install a new dishwasher. He was VERY unprofessional and not knowledgeable about installing dishwashers. First, he began to work on our dishwasher before turning the water or power off. He then tells us to cut the breaker and the water only after we acquired about it. We cut the hot water in addition to the electricity. He then went back into our kitchen to ensure the water indeed was turned off. The cold water was not/ could not be turned off. Even after him "cutting" the main water supply, cold water was still coming out the faucet. He then told us he could not install the dishwasher with the cold water coming out the faucet. He then tells us to leave the faucet running while he goes off to do two other jobs!! Literally, he wanted us to leave our water running while he went off to assist other customers!!! He was in such a rush to leave. Guess he had a hot date...it is Friday night after-all. Said he would leave a ticket stating we needed a plumber because he wasn't one. Repeated this several times..."I'm not a plumber". Why send a guy out to install a dishwasher that deals with plumbing...if said guy knows nothing about plumbing? Behold...he didn't leave a ticket. Guess he didn't want to leave any trace. Just left our home without saying anything else even though we asked him to hold on while we got in touch with our homeowner warranty company. He was in our home for about 20 mins...it would have taken him longer to install the dishwasher!!! He left our home a mess. Water all over the floor, under the dishwasher, etc. Once we were able to turn the water back on...we saw what he had managed to do in the 20 mins he was in our home. He didn't even have the professional decency to tighten back the nuts and bolts he had loosened. Water was spraying everywhere. He also managed to do something to the valves under our sink, and now they leak. Never had this problem before (leaking). Now we have several. We called Jose to come back and remedy this immediately after we realized he just walked out our door. Call went straight to voicemail. We called the company, it rang and went to voicemail. We did this several times. I am amazed at the indecency, and unprofessional conduct of The Repair Guy. Avoid this company. BEWARE! Do Not Use the person... I'll explain. He will come as soon as the day you call to hook you in, then the chicanery begins! He will purposefully misdiagnosis the problem(in my case a non defrosting freezer) and choose the expensive option, KNOWING it will not work. Then the fun begins, where he won't return calls, and can't come back right away. Then when he returns, he will not have the proper 'new' part, so that s two calls and service charges, where he also triples the part that you or I can easily purchase. Now the next visit, he'll put in the cheaper, correct part,remember marking it up triple, and voila, it is almost fixed. In my case, he didn't install the water line in the correct manner, so I had to call Sears service who did it honestly and fairly, but I still had to pay another fee. I needed some one to check out the dryer vent, and came across these guys. the guy was nice on the phone BUT... 2 of them showed up in a personal vehicle, owner called and said they were busy and didn't have enough trucks, that should have been my 1st clue. They didn't really have any equipment, They worked on the vent trying to get it cleaned out and after maybe 30-45 minutes I got a call from the owner WHO was not there and I was told that the dryer vent was broke and I needed to open up the walls to fix the pipe and I needed to call someone who can do that and then call him back and he would come back out and Clean it. REALLY?.. I called the Vent Wizard, scheduled the appt, told him what these jerks said and did, He had the equipment a blower and the tools to clean out 30 feet of duck for the dryer vent. The Vent was NOT BROKE and did not need repaid, these guys charged me $140 and they did nothing and did not even clear out the vent pipe. UGH.. Poor Customer Service. EVERY single phone call I have made to this company I have spoken to Melissa, and she has the worst attitude. She constantly acts bothered and burdened by my phone call, like she's doing something more important. She will say something like she needs to check on something and get back to me, but then I don't hear back for hours so I will call back to follow up and see what the status is and she acts irritated or like she is doing something else. One of the first negative encounters I have had with her I mentioned I hadn't heard back and was following up and she said "sorry, I'm just doing something" which I find really annoying because ......UHM your job is to answer the phone calls, get back to people, schedule, etc.. that means multi-tasking and customer service. Learn it! Another instance about 10 days after that one, after AGAIN hearing that she will get back to me after speaking with the tech and not hearing back for hours (eager to finally get scheduled as I have waited a while and the end of the work day is approaching), I follow up with her and she is short with me, acting burdened AGAIN and says she doesn't know yet. I let her know that she sounds bothered by my calls and she said "that's just my voice, it's just the way I am" Sorry but phone calls only take a few minutes, give that one person a few minutes that makes them feel important and get their stuff taken care of and then be done. Overall, when this dishwasher FINALLY can get scheduled for an install, I will be grateful I don't have to talk to her anymore. Repair/install tech's are just fine.
