It's a small establishment but those tend to be the best. It's a no frills aesthetic both inside and out. Very unassuming but when I tell you this is some of the best Jamaican food I've had in a LONG time I'm not lying. The service was amazing and the team is support friendly. The brown stew chicken was not only packed with flavor but it was fall off the bone tender. High reviews may be based on the food itself but as far as service or quickness our experience is very poor. We have waited in restaurant at least 20-40 minutes minimum. I have never waited as long as they take to put these meals together. They did come out with an order but was completely wrong. My impression of the establishment is a small cafe with a few Jamaican flags, wording, and music camouflaged up to attract the tourists. There are no Jamaicans taking order, the menu is always on the TV. There is an attached side to cafe with 1 pool table, another bar, and stage. Upon finally receiving our orders albeit after an hour wait the food was presented well but no damn way wait for amount served. We have come to expect that no one here in America can give it the jerk taste and this was no different. Yes it is fall off bone but only jerk seasoning not the taste cooked in. It is serviceable as far as American standards. The curry chicken was way salty and the side of rice peas was very small as compared to me I got very large portion rice. The food was okay but as long as we waited I was ready to get refund and leave. If you want horrible service come here but I will not again. read more

Our ROMEO group of 6 went here Tuesday. Arrived at around 11:20 and the waitress said it'd be a bit before he was ready to serve. She took our order around 11:40 or so. It was the first time for out group....we ordered (2) Jerk Chicken with rice/beans and plantains, and order of shrimp with rice/beans, two orders of chicken wings (one with jerk seasoning and one with habanero/mango sauce) and also a Jerk Chicken with cabbage and rice/beans. The jerk seasoning was very good. The jerk chicken was tender, well flavored and fell off the bone! The rice and beans are also very well flavored with the jerk sauce ( which had a nice tang to it). Plantains were excellent, fried with a crispy outside and soft on the inside. Everyone liked the food. The only issue was that these were the smallest chicken wings we've ever seen. The joke was that maybe they were pigeon or hummingbird wings! Very small, buy the habanero/mango sauce was a winner! Our ratings varied from 4-4.5 One of the chicken wing guys said he would've given it a five but the French fries weren't crispy. It's a no for me. When you walk in the smell will trick you because it smells amazing. However there's something missing or lacking. I had the jerk chicken. I asked for the white meat which is an up charge and of course they didn't have it. The portion size seemed to be small for what we paid for. I had plantain and macaroni and cheese as my sides. The other plate we ordered was curry chicken with cabbage and plantain as the side. The curry chicken tasted flat but no curry flavor to it. The spices were there for both meats but it seemed like it lacked the flavor. Also the confusion of where to order. Is there a take out section? This place is like a sweet little hidden gem. At least to me it was. I have never heard of this place before and was craving Jamaican food and yelp took me here. The rice and peas didn't quite taste like other versions or Jamaican rice and peas that I have had... but it was edible. The restaurant appears to be connected to a club/lounge. I wouldn't bring my kids here to sit down and eat, but the ambiance is suitable for a meet up with friends, meet n greet, maybe even a casual date. Staff was friendly and polite. The staff is friendly - seems family run and you could tell they had regulars that visit often! It had a couple tables outside and adequate inside seating! The absolute worst meal portion size of a quarter. It was a complete rip off. All rice and beans and almost no oxtail. The whole purpose of my order was for oxtail. I can't speak on service in person and location because I did order from here through DoorDash, but I have mixed feelings. My bf ordered the food and I think the order was placed at around 6:40-6:45ish. The eta of delivery was 7:19-7:45 (something like that). They called him at 7:10 to say they did not have Rasta pasta so he ordered something else which of course would have taken them longer to make for him. Needless to say my food was cold while his was "piping hot" as he described. He got oxtails which seemed good because he ate it. He ordered beef patties which were really good. I love the flaky pastry, it was nice and crispy on the edges. The beef patty had really good flavor and a little kick to it. I ordered jerk chicken with fried plantains and rice and peas. The jerk chicken was good and very spicy, I love the jerk flavor. The rice and peas were good, it kind of had a tangy taste. I would have preferred white rice but it gave it as an option for an actual extra side item but not as a side that comes with the meal which was weird. The plantains were cold and chewy (I'm assuming that's how they are prepared), but I preferably like mine crispy. I feel like we should have been called prior to notify us they did not have Rasta pasta so we wouldn't have had to wait so long for our food and it also seems like they cooked mine first and it was sitting and waiting for his food to be done which caused it to be cold when i got it. While visiting Columbia SC, I wanted some authentic Jamaican food. More specifically, some good oxtails with rice and peas. This was NOT the spot for authentic Jamaican despite what other reviewers stated. Don't get me wrong, the oxtails, rice and peas with plantains were good, just not authentically seasoned. It was missing something. Oxtails were tender and tasty. Rice and peas were good. My wife said plantains tasted if they came out of package in freezer. I have visited rum plantations in Jamaican and had jerk chicken, goat, caillou with rice and peas so I know what it should taste like. I live in South Florida where many Jamaican are located and know which ones are authentic tasting. The Reggae Grill is just not authentic. Again, the food was good, just missing something. The service was good. We ordered at the bar area and had it as takeout. I was not too sure on what process was since no one greeted you once inside. There are tables and seats inside for onsite eating. There is another dining area through the main dining room when you walk in. In the other dining room, there was a pool table for customers. You can also have a seat at the bar which contains about 5-6 chairs. This is a neighborhood spot with some tasty food if you want a southern style tasting Jamaican flavor. read more

I can't speak to their service or restaurant building since I got the food off of DoorDash. However, I can say that the ox tail was very delicious and tender. The plantains were also delicious, soft, and enjoyable. I'm a little bit of a picky eater, so I chose the "fries" option as my second side on DoorDash; however, what I received was rice instead. I don't mind rice, it just wasn't my preference. I'm unsure why it was substituted, but I'm sure they had a reason. The rice was okay, but even better when dipped in the juice from the ox tail. We have been traveling a lot lately so it was good to round back for a Jerk Chicken fix at the Caribbean Soul Grill. Having sampled the collards last time, I opted for the Jerk Chicken, Rice & Peas and Collards. All were wonderful. My Bride had the same and enjoyed it as well. My Granddaughter had the Teriyaki Wings with Fires. She said they were the best wings she had ever had. That's a big statement from my Granddaughter who is the ultimate Foodie at only 7 years old. It was located in the middle of nowhere. Despite the sketchy location, food was pretty good. Ordered coco bread, chicken patty, jerk chicken, collard greens, fried plantains which were all enjoyable, except the Mac and cheese (side item). Definitely gonna be visiting this place again. My first time trying Jamaican food and I guess we picked the right place. Everything was delicious. I had the oxtails which were excellent. My only regret was not ordering rice to help me get up every last bit of the sauce they came in. Mac and cheese and cabbage were excellent as well. My wife had brown stew chicken with rice and plantains which she loved. She's Puerto Rican and for her to comment on how good the plantains were is an earned compliment.
