My husband ordered a custom lemon cake from Ally & Eloise for a birthday dinner party with friends…read more The cake was decorated neatly and the piping was lovely. However, the cake did not have any lemon flavor and the texture was dry and crumbly--like cornbread! Moreover, the buttercream was greasy and left a waxy aftertaste. The cake was inedible. (One of my friends is a professional pastry chef and remarked that the cake sponge "contained too much flour and high quality flavoring was not added".) Needless to say, we were embarrassed and the cake was tossed. We will never use this bakery again.

I loved the set up and all the cakes laid out. They had a lot of cake slices to choose from and a couple of cookie and cupcake options. I went for the caramel pound cake and a red velvet cupcake with nuts. The nuts were diced but I could still taste them with each bite of the cupcake. The red velvet cupcake had a bit of a strong lemon like taste to me. I don't think I particularly cared for that hint of lemon taste, but nevertheless over all the cupcake was still good. The caramel pound cake was pretty good. It was like drizzled in a caramel sauce. I would have loved it if it was bit more moist. The slices are a really good size and pricing isn't bad. They had some sample decorative cakes and they look like they do a good job on those. Everyone was pretty friendly for the most part.
