Giant HVAC

Our 30 year old HVAC (furnace/coil/condenser) was no longer working, so we needed a replacement…read morebefore the summer heat started. So I do what I always do, which is search on Yelp! I found Giant HVAC had great reviews, so requested an estimate. Joe came out and did an assessment and gave us a quote with many different options (different efficiency, different price points, different options). I got 3 other quotes and Giant's was the best in terms of price, what they were going to do, and professionalism. Once I signed the quote, they came out the next week and made quick work of the installation. Within a few hours, the new system was set up and everything worked perfectly! All throughout, Joe was communicative, professional, and extremely pleasant to work with!

It's been 4 years since Joe and his team installed my AC system, and the system has been wrought…read morewith issues within the first few months. Issues include: -- The AC was poorly installed to the point where refrigerant was leaking and needed to be refilled within the first year of installation. Four years later, it's required at least 4 refrigerant refills, in which refills should only happen once every 5-10 years. -- Joe himself has been a snake oil salesman who claims to "take pride" in his team's work, but gave me the runaround about him being too busy to visit the first time I shared concerns about the first signs of the AC not working. Then, in my frustration and leaving poor Yelp and Google reviews, you can see his defensiveness and trying to blame me (the customer) about the all the issues I experienced stemming from this crap AC installation. -- In seeking a more permanent fix over the past few months, I've met with at least a half dozen HVAC contractors, and every single (6+) technician proactively and independently commented at how poorly installed this system was, and every single one of them had serious questions about why or how this job was completed. Not one of them was surprised that I had issues with the AC starting within year one, but was surprised at how unaccountable Giant AC has been. -- Giant AC left so many holes in the walls that created a rat infestation in my attic and crawlspace that cost thousands to fix (and before Joe tries to defend himself and blame me, the exterminator clearly pointed to the areas where Giant AC left gaping holes at the root cause to this infestation). -- The AC wire coverings are completely mismatched and very ugly (see pictures). This visually represents how shoddy of quality and care Giant AC sets as the standard. Unfortunately, Giant HVAC did such a bad job that there are not only leaks across multiple lines, it's also reeking with other hardware issues (e.g., condensers are messed up). And now I'm left with two options (based on various independent HVAC contractors): -- spend thousands to do a complete quality check, rebuilding the HVAC lines, and replace various components, and only be given a 50/50 chance this will permanently fix the issue, OR -- completely replacing the HVAC system installed by Joe and his team after only 4 years of installation. As you seriously consider an HVAC contractor and spending $10000s, I highly encourage you to consider my experience and look for a different contractor.

Years ago the apartment complex I lived at contracted Calvey to install mini-split A/C in the…read moreapartment I was in. The install was amazing quality! So much so that it gave me the confidence to buy my first home without A/C because I knew I could just call Calvey. A few years later I did just that. Damn, it's been a couple of months now and I've been able to control the climate of my entire house from my phone, optimizing the temperature and sometimes making it as low as 66F to just enjoy the air being crisp. The install has been fantastic quality and the crew listened to everything I wanted every step of the way. They mounted rat spikes where I wanted, they put the lines and the units exactly where I asked and I've had no issues at all. I truly believe with home price comparisons in my area that I made money off of the install because it increased my home value. My golden retriever is happy, I am 100% happy and I will see you guys again next home upgrade. :)

Quite unimpressed. Called and spoke to their receptionist girl, who was ok, seems to not know much,…read moredeflects questions and avoids clear answers, but that's not the problem. I send plans and followed up more than twice with direct emails and voicemails. Nothing. No call, no text, no email. No response at all. Clowns! Maybe they're too busy filming awful commercials lol... call them and that's what you'll be paying for! These guys may be ok, but I'll never know and I'll never call them again because they're very unprofessional. They misrepresent 'free estimates'... liars. Find someone else is my recommendation! Bad service, zero communication. FAIL.
