The interior of the restaurant was quaint. The service was minimal. We tried their specialty beef rice noodles called "Beef Crossing The Bridge" - which was served deconstructed: bowl of broth, bowl of noodles, 11 toopings/ingredients (e.g. bean curd, broccoli, a quail egg, carrots, wood ear mushrooms, bamboo shoots), raw beef, and cooked beef. We also tried an order of pork belly and rice, won ton soup, and pan-fried dumplings. The beef rice noodle dish was bland - broth was lacking flavor and depth but the noodles had a nice, smooth texture. The pork belly dish had tender pieces of pork belly but the dish itself lacked in flavor. The won ton and dumplings were decent but nothing special.

FOOD Stir-Fried Dried Green Beans ($19.95) The winner is this category would be Tropical Island Restaurant on Shelbourne; however, The Cozy Place offering would be close behind it. Decent with some crunch still; you can get it spicy or not. Ma Po Tofu ($19.95) You can order it meatless or minced pork; it's somewhat authentic. It does have some heat to it (for those sensitive to spice); however, it's pretty solid! === 3. SERVICE Service was good and professional on call-in, payment, wait, questions around the menu, and when the order was ready. English was fluently spoken by the lady working the front and the man cooking the dishes behind her. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's a long, narrow restaurant - your group of 6, maybe 8 could fit at one table in the front. For everyone else, you're accommodated in tables of 2's or 4's along the wall. If bringing a wheelchair or baby stroller, I would stick to the table in the front. Parking is all metered on the street - note that the city has their parking enforcement office basically across the way working until 8pm, so put payment into the meters upfront even if you're coming by to do a quick pickup!

Sweet and sour pork and vegetables with meat had flavour. Partner was not happy with food. Soy sauce added to make food tasty. Usually when I order from most other restaurants I never add soy sauce because food is tasty when dish arrives. Plus most chefs are offended when you add condiment before tasting a dish. Will order different dishes and dishes with with BBQ meat if I ever go back to see if cooks were having an off day today. Been awhile since I ate here. Entire bill was paid but my partner wanted cost reduced due to disappointment of dishes. Tables were a bit tight for larger parties but everybody appeared to be enjoying themselves still. Steady flow of customers that were tourists and locals to pick up, delivery service and purchased goods (meat and pastries) to enjoy outside of restaurant. Walls were nicely painted. SERVICE We've never dined in; only gotten takeout - but the service has always been good. Like other Chinese restaurants in Victoria, the time indicated for our order to ready seems to be a lot longer than say Vancouver, Toronto, or even Honolulu. But everyone answering the phone and serving at the counter speaks English well and it seems like they can speak Mandarin also. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's spartan in a good way - big, open, and clean without the gaudy overly-Chinese decor that often accompanies the Chinese restaurant stereotype. A large fish tank at the front (likely for Feng Sui purposes) offers some distraction for younger kids. Those with wheelchairs and baby strollers should have not challenges here.
