Edit : my credit company me notification if I left a tip of 31 percent. I did not leave that much of tip for breakfast. It is very upsetting that they changed the tip amount. I would give 0 star if I can. Upon arrival, staff seem not so friendly as no one greeted us immediately. But once we sit down , waitress was friendly. Food was over priced for what they offer. I ordered hush with vegetables and It tasted so bland. And wait time was so long and I saw some customers left before they get foods. I'd rather go to McDonald for a cheaper option. read more

The food at the Red Fork is very good but the service can be dicey at times. The staff is very friendly but sometimes they are understaffed which is common in this area. If there are a lot of cars in the parking lot be patient, it could take a while to get your food but it is usually worth the wait. read more

Pretty good, well priced diner food, would go again Had the irish coffee to drink, tasted like it was made with Bailey's rather than Irish whiskey, but it was still pretty tasty The chicken and waffles were tasty but a bit heavy. Rather than syrup there was some sort of maple gravy (?) on top. It tasted a bit like caramel apples of all things. It was okay but certainly not southern style The hash was pretty good too, eggs cooked nicely and the avocado looked fresh. Toast and bacon on the side were both cooked nicely as well Service was polite and quick, checked in and refilled coffee when needed. Under the Radar TV show said this is a go to place if you're in the area. This place was horrible! We wanted breakfast, but they don't serve it past 10:30. Staff were distracted, not responsive and darn right now where to be found. The young lady said sit anywhere, she then began counting money. ...... long wait, another asked have you been helped.... No the girl counting tips shouts.... Oh I forgot..... long wait Coffee was old not hot, water couldn't have been smaller. There were two of us. We arrived just before 10am for a simple breakfast. We barely got it in time for lunch. There were only 3 other tables with people. 2 of which belonged to the other waitress. We were unlucky enough to get the older cranky waitress whose greeting and smile were as fake as the giant faded rooster out front. We were told to sit anywhere we liked but then sat there for about 7 minutes before our unpleasant waitress even came over to ask what we wanted to drink. 6 or 7 more minutes went by and we get only 1/2 of our drink order. The other half took another 5 minutes. Who would have thought 10 minutes to get OJ and water. Which btw a glass of water is a joke to them (see pic below). When she finally brought all our drinks she left for another 5 minutes or more before she could be bothered to take our order. With the order places we sat there for another 20 minutes waiting for simple pancakes and an omelette, while we watched other tables who came in after us get served. Luckily they had the younger waitress who seemed to be on top of things. . Once the food arrived, everything looked wonderful....looks are deceiving. The blueberry pancakes while looked like they were cooked to golden perfection turned out to have hard outer shells and gummy insides. I guess you could consider them cooked. Just not a good recipe. The meat lovers omelette was flatter than the pancakes and barely had any filling. Although he said it tasted good. We never saw the waitress again, not even to get a refills on coffee until we had had enough of waiting and were ready to leave. We asked for a box for what was left of the omelette.... I had no desire to take what was left of the pancakes home, and had to sit and wait for another at least 5 minutes because once again she disappeared, then walked by and forgot we wanted a box. when she came back with the box she then forgot the bill. We waited another 5 or more and finally had enough. We walked ourselves up to the counter and asked for our bill so we could leave. During this whole time we watched one other table get up and leave also while waiting to have their order taken. Will never go back! read more

2022 Update. Another summer season has hit northern Michigan and with it my summer seasonal trips "Up North". This was a new business to this area last year and was immediately received by the locals and visitors alike as a quality dining area with positive reviews. I am glad to see that the food quality and tastiness of their dishes as well as the consistency of their prepared food from meal to meal is still very good. I frequent this business usually for breakfast and without a doubt in my mind they offer the best breakfast food and menu in the area. Prices continue to be very fair and service is always friendly with good follow up. During my most recent meal here I had the meat lovers omelet with Rye toast and coffee. The omelet had excellent taste, with generous amounts of meat and I loved how well this meat combination complemented the eggs, cheese and spices/herbs used in the omelet. Definitely a must try if you are a meat centric guy like me. The homemade redskin house potatoes were absolutely fabulous and not to be missed as well. If you are in this area and are looking for tasty food and a comfy friendly environment than look no further than Red Fork. Two big thumbs up here read more

We had a wonderful meal at The Red Fork. The staff is very friendly and our food was really good! On the recommendation of our server, I had Mom's Meatloaf and it was delicious. My husband had Parker's Sassy Chicken Sammy with fries. One of the best chicken sandwiches we've ever had! Husband and I arrived at 5:20 at one of our favor restaurants. There were two other two-tops that looked like they had ordered dinner. One waitress was working. Within five minutes, seven more customers arrived: three tables. We placed our order (cod dinner and Thai dinner) figuring there was also only one cook in the kitchen and we wanted to get fed before the kitchen got backed up. The wine we ordered came about fifteen minutes later. During that time, a four-top and three other two-tops came in. This, in addition to to-go orders. The wait for food continued. We assured the waitress that we were not in a rush. More time went by. A young teen showed up, possibly the waitress' son, to pour water, deliver salads, and hand out menus. Other tables received their food. More time went by. In fact, eventually all fifteen people on our side of the room received their food. My husband's cole slaw arrived; not my salad. We tried unsuccessfully to get the waitresses attention, but by this time the other side of the room had filled up. The four-top, not getting service, walked out. At 6:45 the waitress walked by - the first time we talked to her after wine delivery - and then noticed we hadn't been fed. She apologized, we reminded her what we ordered, and said she place our order in right away. I told her it appeared that she gave our order to someone else (we overheard one woman said she ordered garlic chicken but it didn't taste like garlic, it was spicy) and the waitress said she'd remove the dinner from their bill. I inquired as to my salad and she said I didn't get one with my dinner. (Note: the menu says otherwise.) I explained I was starving and just needed a piece of bread. She said she'd get it right away. More time passed. She came back to our table with two dinners: they weren't ours, so we reminded her of our order, now for a third time. Food arrived about 10 minutes later. Garlic bread (which I didn't want) arrived about 5 minutes after dinner. We ate quickly and left. I get that waitresses get busy and overwhelmed. I've been one. What I don't get is the failure of the waitress to control HER floor, and put up a sign that says Wait To Be Seated. Then the bus boy could be forthright in telling new arrivals that the wait would be 30-45 minutes and she could adequately take care of existing customers. The reality is there was no possible way she could manage that many people and she knew it. I also don't get her lack of familiarity with what is actually a small menu. Salad does come with the Thai dinner. I also don't get that when a customer who has been waiting for food for almost 1.5 hours begs for a piece of bread, the waitress or even bus boy doesn't provide a piece of bread. We've been to The Red Fork an untold number of times (even breakfast last week) but have decided to find a new favorite restaurant. read more

ohmygod. paid $80 for a barely edible meal. the manager took $2 off when we didn't eat most of it. only one of three entrees wasn't nauseating and it was just the salad (which was $18). overpriced as hell especially considering that we couldn't even eat it without gagging. read more

The Red Fork was an amazing and unexpected find in Erwin. We're from Atlanta and wish we had a restaurant like this nearby! We went twice in one week because the food and service were so great. I am gluten free thanks to EOE. The menu was marked with gluten-free options, and both servers knew exactly what foods were safe and what modifications could be made. Best of all, the food was REALLY good! My husband was obsessed with the peach and tomato salad, and I'm still thinking about those brussels sprouts. The menu is inventive for those more adventurous (kimchi collards!) while still offering staples like fried chicken and hamburgers. Full bar and good selection of wines, too. If you're not from the area, plan a day to do some of the great hikes in the area and then treat yourself to dinner at The Red Fork! read more

We love The Red Fork. The food is consistently delicious. Such a varied menu...we love the Eggs Benedict--it is wonderful, and the Avocado Toast is among the best we've had. Luckily, a person came along and brought the Restaurant back to life... on her terms. Let's start with the name. We now have "The Red Fork". How EXCITING! Once the different Mandates were lifted by the Government, it was "GAME ON!" First of all, the decor is nice and clean. Next the Staff is intuitive and prompt! Now let's go to the options via the Menu's... I have enjoyed everything so far. I've had the Raspberry Cream Cheese French Toast. It was Fantastic! Then I tried the "Chicken and Waffles"... that was Fabulous! Today I am going to try the "California Eggs Benedict". This has Avocado and Bacon instead of Canadian Bacon. read more

Went there this morning for breakfast with my son. I had the kitchen sink and he had the waffles and hen. We both thought our breakfast were outstanding. I have traveled extensively throughout the world and I have to admit the kitchen sink was in my top three breakfast I have ever had. I can't recommend The Red Fork more. read more

I was told this restaurant previously was called the Red Rooster, so that explains the giant statue of red colored rooster right in front of the restaurant. Okay, moving on the to the menu and food. I loved the simplicity of the menu - it seemed organized nicely in little categories making it easy for me to choose what I wanted. So although the pancakes sounded great, I wanted something savory so I went with the Meat Lovers Omelette. It came with a toast but the menu didn't say what types of bread were available - I ended up choosing white but later noticed that a rye bread was also available... had I known that, I would've chosen that. So my suggestion to the restaurant is to list the available bread options on their menu, that would be helpful. The house potatoes were unique and delicious, I didn't expect to see those to be like McDonald's hash brown - I really liked their house potatoes. Yum. The omelette was good but it felt like they were using a Kraft single as the cheese??? I'm more used to seeing fresh shredded cheese in my omelettes, so I felt like the Kraft single made my omelette REALLY salty especially when they combined that with salty bacon. But it was still good and I inhaled my omelette. read more

Wish I was told then that they had "meal times" as I was told they closed at 8 but no specifics on when breakfast, lunch, or dinner were. We tried to have dinner there on New Year's eve. After an hour and a half and an inedible appetizer we went to talk to the owner. She told us we must be unhappy people to complain and that everyone else in the restaurant was having a good time. There were 7 other tables in our side of the place and only one received their meal in the hour and a half we were there. She told us she didn't care if we were unsatisfied or if we wrote a negative review. That's because minutes after I wrote a review she deleted it. After a second review she blocked me from her site. I can't tell you if main course was good or bad because we didn't get one. I can tell you service from the kitchen was non-existent and there was no apology from the owner for poor service, only an accusation for us being bad patrons. read more
