Low Yo Yo is a brief walk away from the historic 40 Watt Club and near plenty of dining and drinking choices. While a relatively small store, it's packed wall to wall with a lot of records! I was particularly impressed by the great selection of catalogue titles they have--I always have a running list of records I'm looking for and often these are not present in my local shops. Many, if not most, of what I looked for WAS present here. Often a new title, shrinkwrapped and priced accordingly--but fairly/within market range. They did have some original pressings and used items, but overall their used items seem to be vastly outranked by their new items. However, I can't quite be sure of that as beyond the row of newly arrived used items all others are filed with their new counterparts. I like the overall organization of this store--by genre, by artist, and often within an artist's section all of the solo and sideprojects of a group are present and accounted for. There's also a pretty sweet local artists section (including REM) near the register. Friendly service, cool shop, would definitely make this a regular stop if I lived in the area.

It's my kind of museum. Wuxtry Records never disappoints, and it's another Athens staple; they have been there since 1976. When I was at UGA, I swear my roommate/bestie and I went here weekly. It's right in the heart of downtown Athens, and it offers everything you would need and expect from an independently owned record shop that has survived many decades. Great collections and variety, while also extremely and intentionally organized. Some of my favorite bands have come out of the Classic City that is Athens, GA such as R.E.M, The B-52's, and Widespread Panic, so it only makes sense that there would be such an epic and well-known record shop here. If you know Athens, especially downtown, you know parking is limited and they do ticket if you don't pay the meters, so definitely recommend going during the week and earlier in the day. I was so happy to stop in my last visit in town, and it was even more nostalgic and sweet because I had my best friend and old college roommate with me.

Almost everything is labeled rock/pop but also an excellent selection of soundtrack, jazz, R&B, hip-hop. Metal and electronic available but selections are definitely less for this. They also have a section for "audiophile" records at the back as well. Multiple bargain bin sections, both for used and new vinyl, some great finds in those boxes and selection is always changing. I do believe they are not taking used vinyl at time of this review. The store is not huge, but probably the best organised store around, and much less overwhelming than some of the other stores (this of course is plus/minus, especially if you want to get lost in boxes upon boxes for hours). Online selection is excellent and seems like a very popular store to order from online, I have only ever bought in store. You can set notifications for items online as well. Customer service is excellent, they will help get you set up on their listening station (believe they are using an AT LP-120X) if you want to give a used vinyl a spin. Return policy is extraordinarily generous and can return any vinyl within 100 days even if listened (with receipt). They also cleaned a vinyl for me that was having skipping issues at home! Parking on the street in front of the store, if the spots are ever open (more likely during the week). Every record I picked up had surface scratches or something crazy wrong with it. I picked up a cover to a record that had math all over it from a game of spades. Why the hell would something like that be on the shelf? Nothing is priced. You have to build a stack, take it to the counter, and let the owner price it then. He looks up each individual record on Discogs then charges double or triple the value of the record. Also if you have an issue with a record, there are NO REFUNDS / EXCHANGES. Positives are that it's ducked off in a private location, and it's mildly organized. Prices are not outrageously expensive like FantasyLand or Criminal. They do offer a free $10 record if you spend $200..

I stumbled upon this gem after googling "vinyl records near me" while in the Duluth area. The service was fair, but what really impressed me was the extensive collection of up-to-date vinyl records. Unlike other stores that primarily stock older records, CD Warehouse has a great selection of contemporary vinyl. It's the best store I've visited so far for vinyl shopping. I managed to rack up on many new records here. The best part was the value. The prices were not bad at all to say many of these were newer. I'll definitely be back! There were many vinyls that I did see that I put bad.
