Sadly, it was the Corona virus and my need for fabric to make masks ( to donate ) which finally introduced me to this sweet lady and her successful shop. The place is wall to wall with quality quilting grade fabrics and associated trims and products. She is so helpful and energetic. The ladies shopping seemed very engaged and interactive with her and finding lots in her store as well. I found everything I needed for sure. Lots and lots of beautiful fabric. Highly recommend this hometown favorite.

Nice fabrics, patterns & books, The store samples give you great ideas in case you didn't arrive with any of your own. There were some hexagonal table runner & candle mat sets hanging on one wall. (See my photos.) Fabric from Moda and other high-quality manufacturers. Fat quarter bundles are made up and ready to grab for projects. They come with free quilt patterns put together by the store. The really special thing about this store is all the ribbon and trim. There are hair bows already made up and for sale, or you can buy some of the ribbons and make your own. Bring your little girl here and she'll pick out something beautiful to tie back her hair. Be sure to see my photos, and check out the little snap purses made from the Offray ombre ribbon roses. But…read morefinally, enough was enough, and as I commit to sewing more and delving into the world of quilting, I decided to source all my fabric from places other than Joanns, opting instead to explore the small fabric stores in my area, and what a great decision that was! I was able to discover so many new favorites, 2nd Street Quilt Shop being one of them, and source so many gorgeous, fresh & new designs I had never seen before! It has truly renewed my interest in sewing, and I'm truly excited to embark on this new quest in quilting! When I saw a store named "Ann Arbor Sewing & Quilting Center," I knew I had to visit! Their hours are a bit wonky, so I had to take off work a little bit early on a Friday to drive the hour out here just to make it in time to peruse, but I'm really glad I did so because holy guacamole this space is incredible! First of all, this building is huge, which as a default means it contains so many goodies inside that I wish I had had way more time on hand to properly explore, but that just means I'll have to come back again the next time I'm in Ann Arbor and the store is open! Second of all, I love the way the store is structured! There's so many levels to it, so many different sections depending on the type of tools or fabric. It was just a dream to walk through and my head was just swinging every which way trying to get the lay of the land everywhere! But finally, I entered the fabric section I was looking for and it felt like Christmas morning! Fabric as far as the eye could see! All color coordinated and also arranged by brand/fabric type groupings as well. I learned so much about different types of fabric that day and was just generally overwhelmed in the best way possible, I didn't even manage to take any photos! I just immediately set to work and started scanning all the fabrics and pulling out anything that caught my eye. I truly love it here and had the best experience! Because their space is so large too, they have more than one cutting table, which is something I hadn't found at any other fabric store I went to, which made this place feel even more legit. I'm jealous of everyone who lives in Ann Arbor and can stop by here on a whim easily! It's a trek for me, but definitely worth the trek, and I can't wait to come back soon! :)

Wonderful selection of many designers and themes, accessories, threads and many many fabrics to choose from. The owner was present and VERY helpful. I chose several patterns and she helped me select fabric for each in the count that I needed then she cut the fabric to size and STITCHED THE EDGES SO IT WOULD NOT FRAY!!!!!! What a life saver!!! They moved locations since the last time I was here but it's still a pretty rad concept--a…read morenonprofit resale of craft and art supplies and other goods that can be repurposed and upcycled into art supplies. There's a lot here if you're willing to dig through! There's a vintage area with tons of old, vintage papers, photographs, sheet music, postcards, photo albums, negatives, etc. Loads of scrap fabric and remnants, yarn, embroidery floss, notions, scrap paper, scrapbooking materials, stickers, stencils, even industrial supplies like foam scraps, and household materials like pill bottles (empty of course), lids, jars, storage containers, craft kits, old calendars, big bins of wine corks, pens, etc. They have a HUGE selection of old National Geographic issues, some going back as far as the 1930s. Perfect for collages or collecting. They also have a few machines like scales, microscopes, sewing machines, etc. As well as a few tools, wood and metal working items, just bits and bobs of tons of things to sort through. It changes all the time so stop in regularly to see what they get in! And the best part? It's all SO cheap and keeps all these things out of landfills (56K lbs just last year)! Upcycling FTW! Some things are in better condition than others but if you're the creative type you will be inspired by all you can find here. And since things are so affordable you can really take risks and noodle around without worrying about wasting your supplies. Want more inspo?
