My culinary adventures have focused on the flavor profiles of traditional Irish dishes. Yes, there…read moreis more than potatoes on the menu. I am traveling within reasonable distances of my home to experience the flavors. For example, one establishment provided a Flight of 3 menu items before committing to eating one, which was enjoyable; however, their shepherd's pie was prepared with sweetness/sweetened rather than savory flavors, which didn't bode well for me. Today's adventurous goal was to experience "bangers and mash," as there appear to be a couple of variations of this dish made with either Guinness, Port wine, or beef stock. When typing Bangers and Mash into Yelp and Google Maps, this establishment was an option for consideration. I verified that the item was on the menu and read the reviews. Upon our arrival, we were greeted well and seated forthwith. We started to place our orders when I noticed that the food item I was seeking wasn't on the menu. When I inquired about the Bangers and Mash, I was told it was no longer available. Disappointed, I opted for the Shepherd's pie. While I couldn't obtain the item I hoped for, the experience wasn't bad. The shepherd's pie was well-made and presented well; a large portion is served in an individual cast-iron pan. The flavor profiles were quite good, very savory and rich. The flavor spectrum touched all of the sensory elements. I found it quite enjoyable. My journey continues.

But what struck me as very odd, was that there was no music or background noise whatsoever. It was like we were in a library that served beer. There were a few people at the bar and you could easily hear what everyone was saying. I was very aware of the noise level and it didn't feel comfortable speaking at a normal volume. At some point I have to imagine some sort of music gets played. It's just not in the mid afternoon. I will say the service was friendly and fast. The didn't have any beer on draft which was kind of a bummer. I might dip in again at night. But I don't see myself showing up again mid afternoon. It was super awkward and weird.

There was one staff member servicing all tables and was also serving as the bartender. She was not overly friendly in the slightest which was a bummer, but she warmed up after a little bit. Hoping it was an off day for her but it was my first visit so unsure if that's the norm. Food wise- our group had a mix: omelette, biscuits & gravy, and breakfast sandwiches. I personally loved my breakfast sandwich- it was cooked well and definitely hit the spot. Omelette was also cooked well and my friend enjoyed it. Biggest bummer was the biscuits n gravy. My friend unfortunately couldn't eat the gravy because of how overly garlicky it was and she just picked at the biscuits. It was so overpowering you could smell it as soon as it exited the kitchen. Disappointing since she was looking forward to this brunch. It was not the atmosphere I expected for an Irish pub- very quiet and slow going. I would like to see it at night to check the vibe

The food is cooked to order, so not real fast, but not horrible. We got the lunch special of the day: 1/2 pound of shrimp cooked fried, grilled or blackened, it came with fries and slaw for only $10. The best value for my money I have gotten in a restaurant in a long time. The shrimp, fries and slaw were all good. I was worried the blackened would be too spicy, but they were great. 2 of us substituted sweet potato fries for the regular ones and they were very good (slight upcharge).
