They have a refrigerator-sized sanitizer machine you'll see as soon as you walk through the doors leading to the classrooms. It supposedly runs regularly to clean toys and some bottles. I never saw it in use, but I assume it operates when the facility is closed. Obviously most daycares are a Petri dish for germs, but it seemed like our son caught viruses here on a bi-weekly basis. It wasn't until we started at our new daycare a few months ago that I realized how much less time he was spending sick. Lighthouse's food options appeared satisfactory, although I agree completely with another parent's review that the portions are quite small. You're responsible for bringing your own diapers, wipes, diaper paste, nap rolls, and other essentials every week or as needed. Additionally, if your child is a picky eater (like mine), you pack extra snacks for them in their backpack daily. Lighthouse is undoubtedly the most expensive daycare in the area. Besides the weekly fees, they also charge semester, curriculum, and supply fees. We were paying over $250 a week for two days of care (For an 18 month to 2-year old) plus the extra fees. Additional 100's of dollars billed at different times of the year. It's important to note that you must pay the full amount for these extra fees, regardless of whether your child is enrolled full-time or part-time. Like I said, we had our son enrolled part-time. Considering the charges, I had expected a more value for the experience. Craft projects rarely, if ever, made it home. There were a lot of children in each room, assigned to only one or two teachers. Also, it seemed like most of the event days were held on days we didn't have my son attending. While this isn't necessarily their fault, I did wish there was a reduced supply rate to account for it, as he was missing most of the events and shows. On the positive side, we liked his teachers. They all seemed to be doing their best in a very busy classroom. Ms. Glory and Ms. Takhleeq, in particular, are truly wonderful. When he transferred to their class, we noticed a significant improvement in his mood. If your child is in their class, you're fortunate! They do give you camera access here, but it is limited. If you go over your limit for the day, you're locked out for the rest of the day. There's no counter to show how much time you have left, so you're left up to guess in this regard. A staff member explained that this was to help with network lagging. Too many parents watching constantly stretches their signal to breaking apparently. Understandable, but definitely something to make note of in advance. After the first two weeks at Lighthouse, my son began to hate being dropped off. He would tantrum and cry, and the situation didn't seem to improve. I decided to speak with the director to discuss ways to make the mornings smoother for him. However, this was a mistake. Any concern or question I had was met with dismissive remarks like, "You should have him here more days" and "When are you enrolling him full-time?" We had multiple conversations like this, and I lost count of how many times I had to reiterate that we simply couldn't afford to have him there more than two days a week. It was a wholy embarrassing and uncomfortable experience. When I got home that day, I told my husband that Lighthouse just seemed like a blatant money grab. From that point on, I made it a priority to only seek out the assistant director, Mary, whenever I had any concerns. She was incredibly helpful and provided us with valuable tips. She also advised the teachers on some small ways to make drop-off less traumatic, which I was very grateful for. I didn't expect miracles, just some small gestures that they were actually trying to help our son. The tantrums didn't improve drastically though, and it was something we had to deal with until we left Lighthouse. The mornings were problematic. For a facility that claims to be open from 6:00 to 6:00, the staff scheduling seemed to be a major issue. Some mornings, we would have to drop him off earlier than others due to work or home changes. Whenever this happened, almost always, it would be chaotic. I would try to take him to his usual room, but would be met with a staff member who would tell me that I needed to take him somewhere else, because the teacher wasn't actually there yet. This wasn't a rare occurrence; it happened often. I would pass the front desk and hear the receptionist panicking on the phone because "...the 7:30 people didn't show up!" Sometimes, the alternate classroom would also change without us knowing ahead of time. The worst case was during his last week at Lighthouse when I had to take him to TWO rooms before finally figuring out where he was supposed to be. Often, I was tempted to just take him home because I felt so terrible leaving him there in that environment.

The director said there was no food left so I left to get my son breakfast because they expected him to sit at the table with other children and watch them eat. I asked the director, and two teachers if any class had food. They all said no. When I return, the director told me to sit at the infant 2 table which is low. My son was uncomfortable with his knees touching the table and I was on the floor. When I voiced my concerns, I told the director it's her job to problem solve. She could have offered Apple Sauce which comes from a can. She did not offer it. The Assistant Director does a better job as far as caring for the children and problem solving.

I am leaving this review because parents deserve to know about serious communication and…read moresupervision concerns at this daycare. My child suffered a significant bite injury during care that broke the skin, and I was not properly informed about the incident when it happened. What was even more concerning was that staff members appeared unaware of exactly how or when it occurred. A situation involving a child being injured should immediately be documented, communicated to parents, and closely monitored by staff and management. As a parent, I understand that toddlers can have incidents. The issue is not simply that a bite happened -- it is the lack of supervision, accountability, and communication afterward that is unacceptable. Parents trust daycare staff to maintain a safe environment and to provide immediate, clear communication when injuries occur. I hope management takes this seriously and improves staff awareness, incident reporting procedures, and parent communication moving forward, because no parent should discover the extent of an injury without proper explanation or timely notification.

I am also going to stand in front of the school to let all the parents know what happened to my son, I'm so sad that this happened to my 4 year old son! They have more than 10 students and they're not separated by age group after 2:30pm and only 1 teacher is in charge, my son got pushed, punched and kicked for a good 3 minutes from 1 kid to another and the teacher had her back turned and walked around while my son was getting hurt, it's heart breaking to watched it in the camera I had to call the school to tell them to go in there to stop them from hurting him, and for him to come back on the phone to tell me that they're just playing. At this point, I cannot go back to work, I knew I had to go get my son, my poor son just busted out crying as soon as he saw me. My mother's instinct told me to look to see what my son is doing at that time and thank goodness I looked, if I hadn't watch the camera god knows how much longer before the teacher realize what was happening to my son. If you are planning on leaving your kids at this school, please be prepared to glued your eyes to the camera because these people here does not care about your children!! My son is now dramatized and does not want to go to school anymore, all thanks to this school!

I went back and forth about writing this because Kids 'R' Kids New Territory was once a center my…read morefamily genuinely loved. Under the former director's leadership, it felt like family, which is why I later enrolled my youngest daughter. Unfortunately, in my experience, things changed drastically after she left and Regional Director Cherry became involved in the center. I witnessed significant staff turnover, overwhelmed teachers, and supervision concerns. For about a month, another toddler repeatedly hit my youngest daughter and other children. My daughter was hit with her own cup hard enough to bust her lip and also came home with scratches. My issue was never a toddler having behavioral challenges. My concern was the supervision and intervention. I personally observed Teacher Z in Classroom 200 focused on the classroom iPad and seemingly unaware of what was happening among the children. Another day, I arrived and found Teacher Z overwhelmed and crying in the restroom while two administrators were each holding hysterically crying children and asking ME whether those children normally behaved that way. My daughter was almost two but eventually spent her ENTIRE FINAL WEEK in the infant room. My daughter also has documented latex and dairy allergies. On her final Friday, someone else's diaper was put on her instead of the diapers we supplied. She developed a severe rash afterward. An administrator later acknowledged to me that she approved using the random diaper without first checking my daughter's file. I cannot medically say what caused the rash, but I can say her allergy was documented, her file was not checked, another diaper was used, and the rash developed afterward. There was also an incident in Teacher Z's classroom where my daughter was given a cup that was not hers. Because she has a documented dairy allergy, I had no way of knowing what had previously been in that cup or whether it contained dairy. When a child has food allergies, these details matter. The diaper situation also made no sense. A previous teacher confirmed my daughter had plenty of diapers when she left approximately a week earlier. My husband brought another NEW sleeve AFTER that employee had already left. When we collected our belongings, only five diapers remained. Cherry said Teacher Z blamed the previous teacher, but that didn't explain the new sleeve brought afterward. Cherry ultimately told me the diapers were gone and would not be replaced. I am not accusing anyone of taking them because I did not see what happened to them. My interactions with Regional Director Cherry became increasingly concerning. After only a few interactions, she told me she had already discussed me with an employee and felt I "just wanted to have an issue with her." I barely knew her. Cherry also told employees I had contacted state licensing when I had NOT done so yet; at that point I had only contacted corporate. Employees then approached me asking whether I was the parent who called the State. With a one-year-old who could not tell me what happened during her day, I was no longer comfortable. Cherry also told me a former administrator had called my husband and me "stalkers," said we watched our children on camera all day, and called us "Looney Tunes." I contacted that former administrator directly, and he denied saying those things. After we transferred our children to another Kids 'R' Kids location, the owner personally called me regarding another situation involving Cherry. During that conversation, he screamed at me. Regardless of a disagreement, I do not believe a childcare business owner should communicate with a parent that way, particularly when the parent is raising concerns involving her children. Since leaving, other parents and former employees have contacted me about their own experiences and things allegedly said about my family. I won't repeat those allegations as facts because I wasn't present. This is heartbreaking because we genuinely loved this center before the leadership change. There are good teachers and former employees whom my family will always appreciate. We even transferred to another Kids 'R' Kids because our issue was never with the entire organization. Ultimately, we left because the trust was gone. Parents should be able to raise concerns without becoming workplace gossip, trust that documented latex and dairy allergies will be taken seriously, and know their children are being adequately supervised. I sincerely hope New Territory can someday return to the loving, professional center our family once knew.
