The proprietor, Paul, was so gracious and informative. At the time, the Esopus was down , as were trout. He recommended rivers where we were actually staying, even showed us how to access them. He recommended flies and techniques. I've been out with a few guides here and there but this gentleman was off the charts superb and NICE! So nice, that we are returning in the Fall to go out with him on the Esopus. He is the kind of guide I look forward to being out with. Remember, I had not been out yet but can't wait.

Why replace what you need with garbage when you can likely find a quality brand we know and trust at Camp Catskill. The selections of items in each particular outdoor category is small but the owner has arranged each section of the store to provide for the needs of almost any outdoor enthusiast that might stop in to replace equipment or get new stuff. The store is stocked with clothing, hiking gear, camping gear, outdoor accessories and even a small selection of boots. While the selection of boots is small if you find yourself on trail with an unexpected broken boot rest assured you don't have to go far to find a quality boot to get you back on trail especially if you are in the area for a few days camping. I was looking at a sweater didn't see my size - I continued to carry on in the store because I genuinely love it. The guy working proceeded to yell at me stating they were all out. I said I'm looking for the grey sweater in a large - to which he replied "we don't have grey". Unfortunately that was not the case, upon arrival into the store the manager informed us that he took it upon himself to call the state trooper on us rather than knocking on the door to ask if we were going to rent from them. As we entered the store three teenage employees greeted us. As we waited to rent from the manager he came in and stated he called the state troopers and they were on the way. Calling the police on a couple who is about to spend a good buck on your establishment is extremely unprofessional. We could tell we were not welcomed so we said "Have a nice day!"
