Cool ambiance and of course known for being used as a spot for the New Girl show. The space is a little old but has a cool vibe for sure. The spicy Korean fried chicken was good - on the saucier side if that matters to you. The japchae and dubu kimchi were decent. Huge portions. The service was a little lacking.
** ICONICALLY LA ** Originally named The Windsor, this Tudor-style building opened its doors in 1927 during the Golden Age of Hollywood. Located just up the street from the posh Ambassador Hotel and its legendary Cocoanut Grove nightclub, A-listers, politicians, and the wealthy elite were part of the scenery. Silent, silver screen faces like Rudolph Valentino to the cast of the Ziegfeld Follies walked through those slim, front entrance doors regularly. Side note: Despite having double doors, I think they feel tighter than passing through a regular door haha ;) As I was saying ... The Prince became a famous eatery in the 1940s to 1960s. Locals like Bette Davis, Richard Nixon, and then-governor Ronnie Reagan frequented this Art Deco hotel and restaurant that served up the best cocktails in the city. ** THE BAR SCENE ** Fast-forward to 2026, and you'll still get some of the best cocktails in the city. I'd give the bartender a 5/5 for my Dry Hendrick's Martini with Olives. It was perfectly crusted over with a thin sheath of ice. For Soju fans, they've got that of course. Japanese whisky highballs are also popular here. If you're not in the mood for booze or you're the Designated Driver for your partying sidekicks, there's Fever Tree Ginger Beer. Keep in mind that bar service is better during dinner hours. Late/midnight hours get hectic on Fridays & Saturdays. Wait times can get long and drinks orders are best kept simple to avoid further lengthy delays. It's an entirely different service experience if you go for dinner at 7pm versus drinks at midnight. Def lively and a fun vibe amid the funky 1920s decor mix-matched with armored knights and medieval nuances. ** A DELISH DINNER ** Ok, so I love-love-loved the Kimchi Fried Rice with the Korean Whole Fried Chicken. The rice was flavorful with the right amount of kimchi spice, while the chicken was perfectly crunchy-crispy. Also, we ate family-style and for 3 of us, we ordered 3 entrees. Of course, we did eat a Whole Chicken! It seemed to be the right amount for us with cocktails and wine. My rule: You can always add-on apps, sides, or entrees. ** THAT'S A WRAP ** Since transitioning into a Korean restaurant in the 1960s, The Prince kept its iconic, old-Hollywood, dark-paneled interior decor. And you can't erase the movie history that these walls have seen. Over the years, The Prince has been the backdrop to great scenes in "Thank You for Smoking" and back when a young Jack Nicholson starred in "Chinatown". Also, the dark burgundy booths, each equipped with a lamp figurine and a bell for service, set the pivotal mood in Mad Men. That shocking episode where every feminist cringed while screaming at the TV with bitter disappointment over Joan's business proposal (IFYKYK). As an ad geek myself, I recognize that the old world vibe of The Prince is a throwback to the Golden Age of cinema and creativity. It reminds me of the romanticized creative spirit of movie icons, as well as Mad Men and Don Draper types who coined the "Martini Lunch". As a tribute to my creative elders & forefathers in advertising, it was nice to sit, eat, chat, and sip on a frosty martini. It may not have been lunch, but it was my happy hour.
We came on a Friday night after having dinner in ktown. There was a waitlist that we put our names down on . They have a pretty good selection of cocktails / food/ soju here . They seated us at a round booth which was on the smaller side for 6 people but we made it work . They were doing a spin the wheel for free soju giveaways and I won a bottle ! We ordered a good mix of cocktails and soju. I really like the minty frozen drink that my friend got but I completely forgot what it was called . We also ordered some crispy chicken with Ddukbokki and cheese and French fries . I had alot of fun and would definitely come back !! I would prob come earlier so I wouldn't have to wait so long and hopefully snag a better seat. Great place for people watching and for hanging out with friends
The Prince is a super cool bar located in Koreatown. Although we didn't try their famous fried chicken, we enjoyed a couple drinks at the bar. I loved the decor and ambiance. Service was quick and efficient. If looking for an interesting spot to grab a beer at, The Prince is an excellent option.
I came here once to eat, and the wings are definitely one of the best things on the menu better than Buffalo Wild Wings or similar places. They're a bit pricey, but they're much bigger than wings at other spots, which makes them worth it in my opinion The customer service here has always been excellent. One time I came alone, and the employee told me I needed to order at least one menu item (not just an appetizer) to sit at a table. Since I only wanted a beer and the bar was full, she kindly allowed me to order just a drink while waiting for the bar to clear. She even asked the manager, who approved it. really appreciated that gesture because they didn't have to accommodate me. The ambiance is classic bar style, with dim lighting and good music. The vibe is old school timey and unique, which makes it a cool place to check out. Overall, the combination of great service and distinctive atmosphere makes it a spot I'd recommend visiting
Came on a Saturday night and didn't wait more than 10 minutes. This place gives off a different vibe than other ktown bars. Its more lowkey since its a lounge. The korean chicken soy wings were fantastic! The sauce was a sweet soy sauce and the texture was crunchy. I also had the meet pancakes but found it to be a bit too oily but the flavor was ok.
Huge high point is that this place feels like a true hole-in-the-wall/gem. It's an incredibly unassuming spot, with a timeless interior. What isn't a high point though? The time it took for our food to come out. I assure you, it does not take 40 minutes for pre-cooked boneless wings to be prepared. The staff's excuse of it being busy didn't really add up, as other tables that were sat AFTER us received fried dishes before us. Not cool.
Took my sister here who was visiting LA since she is a big New Girl fan! You would never expect this English-themed bar to be smack in the middle of K town but it works! The entrance was a bit tricky to find, but once we were in it was such a vibe. We split a soju to start and then each ordered a cocktail. The bar tender was super friendly and the vibes were good. A huge party came about an hour into our visit and took over the bar area so we decided to move to the tables to feel less crowded. To note, the tables were probably at 50% capacity. The management came over right as we sat down and pressured us to order off their food menu since we sat at a table. Most of the other tables didn't have food and it was almost midnight so we were not hungry. We went back and forth for a bit and ended up avoiding a food order. I don't mind paying a drink minimum or even a food minimum if it's explicitly stated but here it wasn't. If anything I think we looked younger than some of the other people at the bar and the staff was trying to take advantage of that. I recommend visiting if you want a few fun photos and wanna cosplay being Nick at the New Girl bar but other than that I'd steer clear.
What gives this place the two stars is the amazing and unique ambience. It is very recognizable from tv and movies and is super fun to hang out and look around. Outside of the atmosphere, the food leaves much to be desired. It was horrifically overpriced for mediocre Korean dishes and portion sizes. For five people eating family style and 2 gin martinis, our bill was nearly $400. It was a huge disappointment especially for how much we were paying. The service was prompt, but nothing memorable. If you want a neat place to grab a cocktail this could be an option, but skip the food for sure. There are way too many great Korean places in the same area to spend so much money here.
This restaurant bar has a really cool vibe, especially with its classic interior that's been kept from when it was a fine-dining spot back in the 1940s. It gives the place a lot of character, and you can feel the history as soon as you walk in. It's a dive that also doubles as a Korean restaurant, so you check in with a host. The wait was about 10-15 minutes, reasonable for a weekend, though there's no real waiting area so you end up standing near the entrance. Inside, the vibe is vintage, loud, and very LA. Service was warm and attentive. The espresso martini was underwhelming for the price, and while the fries came in a huge portion, the quality was lacking. Still, the ambiance carries the experience.

However, The Prince turned out to be quite different from what I expected. The ambiance is more like a retro dive bar than a typical Korean BBQ spot. It has moody lighting, a cozy vibe, and feels like the kind of place where you'd sip wine and listen to jazz rather than grill meat at the table. In fact, there were no burners at the tables--everything is cooked in the kitchen and brought out. We shared several dishes, and while the food was solid, it didn't blow me away. It was also on the pricey side, which is worth noting. If you're looking for an authentic Korean barbecue experience, this might not be the spot for you. But if you're in the mood for something a little different--Korean flavors in a more laid-back, lounge-like setting--The Prince has its charm. I'd call it Korean BBQ with a hipster twist. Based on the food alone, I'd give it 3 stars.

The Prince is featured in so many fun films and tv shows, most notably in New Girl where a set was built to look like it eventually. Plus, you may have seen it in Mad Men, Palm Royale, Murder She Wrote, Chinatown, and beyond. The staff is kind, though our bartender the most recent time I was there was hilariously off-putting. (To the point he asked my sister and I what we wanted and we glanced at the menu to finalize for a moment, looked up, and he was gone. He didn't come back for like 8 minutes and it wasn't busy.) The drinks are well balanced, especially if you order from their cocktail menu. (Be more discerning with your drink orders or when you ask the one off-putting bartender for a surprise shot, he may make the most disgusting thing you have ever had. Once again, everyone else was nice and we tipped well so still unsure what the dude's hangup was.) A lot of people love the fried chicken, though it wasn't really my thing. read more

Stopped in for happy hour and was pleasantly surprised. They offer 50% off beer and soju, which is a fantastic deal. The bartender was a super cool cat, and a musician. Easy to talk to, genuinely friendly, and a fellow Bay Area guy. I asked him to make something off the cuff, and he created a cocktail from scratch that turned out to be excellent. Definitely a highlight of the visit. The space is pretty dimly lit, so give your eyes a minute to adjust. Once they do, you'll find a relaxed, laid-back atmosphere. The back room, in particular, looks like a great spot to hang out with a group. The loo is covered in graffiti. Most of it is forgettable, but it did make me wonder what the late-night crowd is like. Overall, though, I'd happily stop by again for the happy hour, the drinks, food, and the friendly service. read more

Food is absolutely delicious! The servers are attentive, and I really appreciate how well they manage the waitlist. They do a great job maintaining the ambiance by having guests wait outside until they receive the text that their table is ready, which keeps the space from feeling overcrowded. The music is at the perfect volume which is enough to set the vibe without having to shout across the table. I also love that the waitlist system pretty much guarantees you'll get a table, which makes the experience feel organized and worth the wait. Huge props to the team for handling such a fast turnaround between tables while still keeping the drinks and food consistently flowing. And honestly, with LA prices being what they are these days, The Prince still delivers great value and amazing flavor for the price. I'll definitely be coming back. Whether it's for drinks or a full meal, I genuinely love it here! read more

This should be a 3.5 rating, but the drinks and ambiance alone give it the half-star boost. You feel like a VIP the moment you enter the restaurant, even though it's one of those LA iconic spots for movie and TV show shoots. Of course, this is where the trap of "you come here to be seen, not for the food" occurs... Now, what is worth ordering: The Boneless Spicy Sauce Chicken: Flavorful, crispy, dipped in what I assume is Gochujang sauce. Best dish hands down and more than enough to split between two people. Drinks. They all look tasty. My friend and I both ordered Pina Colada. Fruity, refreshing, and surprisingly strong. I only ordered this one drink and was admittedly hungover the following morning. I'd return to The Prince simply to try the rest of their drinks. Now, for the not-so-great: Shrimp Fried Rice: Subpar. Standard fried rice with mixed veggies, fried eggs, and shrimp. Look, I know seafood is expensive but the tiny bits of shrimp in this almost made the name laughable. Just call it Fried Rice and pass on the shrimp--people will feel less cheated going into it. Spicy Soondae with Vegetables and Korean Pork: considering every ingredient going into this dish, I expected more flavor; instead, the spicy sauce overpowers everything else in it. Tastes like spicy noodles, nothing particularly special about it. The Prince is a fun-time worth coming for drinks and swanky selfies for social media, but is it a top-notch culinary experience? We came here for late night bites and the ultra cool retro red booth and lamps atmosphere. "Mad men"and "Thank you for smoking" are among the shows and movies filmed here. I love that we can push a button and our server is there in seconds. We ate the pork fried potstickers, Korean beef bulgogi and the kimchi friend rice, which was brought out to use several minutes after we ordered. The food was delicious. Highly recommended for some late night cocktails and food tourism! read more

I don't know the lore of this place (the decor, the paintings lol), but the food was good and I had good service. My only complaint is I don't like peeling shrimp, but the shrimp has so much flavor -- it's worth it. The kimchi fried rice was mid to me. The dumplings, chicken, and noodles were all really good. Family style dining. Big portions for a group. Reasonably priced drinks. Valet parking down the block. read more
Have recently been rewatching New Girl and decided to stop in cause of it. So happy we did. Cocktails were 10/10. Most bars there's only ever like one or two bartenders that can make a quality drink, not here. Every bartender we ordered from made excellent cocktails. It's a very chill after work dinner type vibe. More of a restaurant than anything but you'll definitely find me here again for a quick cocktail or two. read more
The Prince is one of my favorite spots in K-Town. I know it's popular because New Girl was filmed here, but the food lived up to the hype as well. I think they have some of the best Fried Wings in the city hands down. Their fried rice is also amazing as well. They have retro dive bar vibes here and friendly prices all around. With a great happy hour special in in included, I'd for sure say that this is one of the best spots in k-town. I've been coming here for years and plan to continue coming. read more

The food is okay and edible, but it lacks seasoning and that 'something special' on every plate. The chicken wasn't crispy enough, the kimchi fried rice was under-flavored, and the fish cake soup tasted like it came straight out of an instant ramen packet. Even the sweet and sour pork was a letdown; I felt like I was eating fried tempura coating with no actual meat inside. Beyond the flavors, the pricing is hard to justify given the inconsistent portions. The price point simply doesn't match the quantity or the quality of the food. Even the use of plastic dippers felt a bit cheap for the setting. While the vibe and decor are great--and it's clearly a popular spot for drinks--I came for the food. If you live around the corner, it's a nice enough neighborhood hangout. But if you're driving a long distance expecting to be impressed, a local mom-and-pop shop would be a much better bet in your area. Service was okay, but unfortunately they are overwhelmed with the magnitude of diners. A two star is justified but it definitely needs some improvements to bring it back to its old glory days at "The Prince" of Korea-town. Maybe changing the menu and theme of the prince to a more modern take of Korean culture and cuisine. read more

I walked into The Prince for the first time around ten years ago as part of a 'famous movie locations' bus tour. We looked around but the tour didn't leave time to get even a drink, so as I was rushed out the door by the tour guide I thought "I'm gonna have to come back here and eat someday". Well today was that day! The place is a little worn and the seats are a little threadbare nowadays, but the classic decor mixed with a Korean menu is so unique you'll forgive it immediately. We opted for some of the more popular items on the menu: the Korean fried chicken (perfect), the kimchi fried rice (also great) and the dumplings (good but nothing special). They have a non alcoholic Suntory beer on the menu which was good for me and a selection of cocktails that I'll have to try when I'm not driving. P.S. If you can avoid parking by taking the metro or ride-sharing I highly advise it. No valet and street parking is a nightmare. read more

We've been going to The Prince around once a week for the past several months now, and I have to say that it's become one of my favorite places to grab drinks and some food late night. I just love the ambiance and the comfortable, spacious booth seating. We've only been here past 10:00pm on weekdays and it's always pretty full but we've never had to wait to be seated. Long gone are the days where the crowd was mostly Koreans...aside from the servers, we've usually been the only Korean customers here every time. I know the chicken used to be good here, but I have to say that my favorite right now is the sweet and sour pork (tangsuyuk)...it's just so perfectly crispy and the sauce is just amazing. They make it better than most Korean style Chinese restaurants. The service has always been good...fairly quick and super professional, even when they're busy. It definitely helps that they have a bell thing at every table that you can ring when you need the server time come over. I just love the Prince right now, and it'll definitely be one of my regular late night spots nights for the foreseeable future! read more

Bartenders were attentive and made awesome drinks. My wife got a Tropic of Cancer (8 of 10) and The Prince (9 of 10), they were both delicious . I got a Midnight Cowboy (7 of 10) and a sazerac with rye (10 of 10), while the midnight cowboy wasn't my favorite I can definitely appreciate the effort the bartender put into it. The ambiance was incredible, loved the old timey vibe and knowing how much history had occurred there is amazing. We didn't get food this time but other folks at the bar were eating and it smelled delicious, we'll be returning with our appetite next time. read more

It's definitely more bar than restaurant. They do have food, but this is definitely more of a drinking and hangout spot kind of vibe. Both Mad Men and New Girl were filmed here so it's pretty cool to visit
Why aren't the cheese potato balls, kimchi rice cheese balls, corn cheese, and lychee in the vegetarian section?
