The view from my room (242) is terrible, the bright lights and loud music from all the bars and clubs is horrible. This hotel is expensive, I would expect a lot more, not happy at all. The only positive comment I can add is the staff are friendly.

I recently stayed at The Prince George for 5 nights on business. It was pretty good, but not outstanding. Here is my overview of positives and negatives: Positives: 1. Nice service at the front desk, and friendly housekeeping staff. 2. Comfortable beds and quiet rooms, contributing to a good sleep. 3. A two-minute walk to the Halifax Convention Centre. 4. Very reasonably priced. Negatives: 1. The hotel is getting pretty dated, especially the rooms. It started to feel a bit like a standard Hilton or Holiday Inn. The bathroom fixtures were dated, and there was no hand-shower. 2. Streetnoise was a bit loud on Saturday night, coming from the bar district at the bar that was directly across the street from my window. 3. Housekeeping was a bit spotty at times. They missed my room completely one day. 4. Wifi wasn't great - it was functional, but sometimes very slow. 5. The gym wasn't good. It contains two treadmills, an eliptical, two cycles, and some free weights with a bench (see my photos). I really like a good gym when I travel, but this hotel didn't have it. That being said, it's a 5 minute walk to two Good Life Fitness locations, so that was easy to rectify. In addition, it has a pool and sauna (which I didn't use). 6. The bar was pretty quiet the entire time I was there. Don't expect much action or excitement in the evenings. But it's close to nightlife on nearby streets. Overall, it was a comfortable stay and convenient for the Halifax Convention Centre. But there are some downsides to the reasonable prices.

Over the course of a few family visits/business trips, I've had the pleasure of living vicariously at 'The Prince George Hotel.' The location and well-kept rooms are certainly enough to encourage me to head back. The Prince George Hotel is located in downtown Halifax and is minutes away from great restaurants (Wooden Monkey plug), The Neptune Theater as well as the Halifax Metro Center. Be sure to check the package deals at this hotel over the coming months. For the price of a nice dinner for two: $109+tax you can currently stay for a night and enjoy a king sized bed in one of their luxury suites with continental breakfast. Sounds like a nice vacation even if it is only 20 minutes from home!

Great location just south of the citadel. Bar is funky and the restaurant is nice. The room and the hallways are a little dated.

The Westin checks all those boxes--and throws in pet-friendliness for good measure. The hotel itself is beautiful, bright, and recently renovated. Well, almost everything. The fitness center requires navigating a peculiar elevator tucked away in what feels like a completely different building, as if the gym is in witness protection. But the rooms? Quiet, spacious, and outfitted with those signature Marriott down comforters that make leaving bed feel like a personal failure. The on-site restaurant is legitimately excellent--good enough that I eat there even when I'm not staying at the hotel. Breakfast is solid: the buffet does the job with a live omelet station and rotating options, but ordering from the menu gets you the real highlights, like seared duck frittata or what might be the best avocado toast in the city (smoked salmon, poached egg, the works). Happy hour is even better--dangerously so. My wife and I once ordered one of everything, assuming tapas-sized portions. They had to push another table over just to fit it all. The baos and mussels were standouts. The jackfruit? Once was enough. Parking is slightly odd--it's around the corner behind the building--but accessible via elevator, and conveniently shares space with the Hertz rental center. The building also houses a few independent vendors (spa services, boutiques, home decor consultants), though they're not formally part of the hotel. Location-wise, you couldn't ask for better: minutes from the waterfront, blocks from the city's best restaurants. A car here is optional at best. If you're Marriott Platinum Elite or higher, upgrades are surprisingly easy to snag, even during summer, unless there's a major convention in town. There are only a handful of hotels in the world I'd return to without hesitation. The Westin Nova Scotian is one of them. In fact, my experience here was good enough that it played a part in why I moved to Halifax.

The kind desk person got me a lakefront room even though the reservation didn't technically say so. They went out of their way to be accommodating and I appreciated it. Breakfast is included for hotel guests and offered a variety of hot and cold food options. The breakfast seating area is large, and there is an outdoor deck with tables if the weather cooperates. Everything was clean and the coffee was good. The pool area was clean and I had it to myself for most of the time I used it. There was an arcade on the same floor which I wanted to use (air hockey!) but I ran out of time. There is free parking and it was a short drive into Halifax. It's close enough to the city but far enough out to be quiet and relaxing. I would definitely return.

Well, where do I begin:…read more The hotel is near a convention center - literally across the street. If you're going to the convention center and that's your goal for a quick commute this is your hotel. That was not my goal. It was a family vacation and we wanted a center location for our family to stay. The center location was fabulous. and the staff were friendly enough. Breakfast was fine (eggs, sausage, cereal, bagels, etc on the buffet area). The staff at the breakfast was more than amazing. Especially one waiter - we got there at 930am and several people were running up right before. and he was so good. Breakfast is included and it runs until 10 am. We opted for a studio bedroom with a queen and a pull out couch for our young daughter. When our daughter was pulling out the drawers in the kitchen we luckily realized the knives were in the 2nd to the last drawer to the floor. For the love of god - please move the knives to a higher drawer. Who puts the sharp knives in a low drawer? Sharp knives always go in a top drawer. C'mon people. We had no sheets/pillows/blankets for said pull out couch and had to run and track down a maid who was very gracious to us. We made her bed and thought it was going to be a great night. Well what we did not realize is that the hotel directly faces Maxwell's Plum. What is that? It is a bar with an outdoor funfest. It is loud and will keep you up way past a child's bedtime and then even your adult bedtime if you are one of the lucky guests to have a literal audience facing this. If you come here - I highly suggest you opt for a bedroom not facing this area. Secondly - do not opt for a room near the stairwell either - we had a double whammy. Music and the sound of the stairwell door slamming. Meant for a lovely Friday night. We probably went to bed around 12 or 1? Also it cost $25 to park. We couldn't get out of the parking garage for a while because several people were smoking right in front of the exit location. (Granted not the hotels issue directly but it just added to the fabulous evening we had).
