This is my second time staying here and I love it. Centrally located and you can walk to anything you need: Citadel, ferry, waterfront; Scotiabank Centre, shopping, breweries. They have free coffee/tea in the lobby (great to warm up after a chilly walk). The front desk staff is wonderful. There is a business center, gym with sauna and hot tub. They have a pretty good free breakfast in the morning with plenty of options. There is a restaurant onsite. Check it out if you are heading to downtown Halifax. read more

Highly recommended for anyone visiting Halifax! It's a great, central location and easily walkable to so many shops and restaurants. It's also right across the street from the Citadel, one of the main tourist attractions in Halifax. They have gated parking onsite for guests, which feels very secure. Our room was nice and clean and had a nice view, staff were nice, the check-in process was smooth, and they had candy on the counter :) read more

"Memories" 'Cambridge Suites' was a hotel I enjoyed several times when travelling to Halifax for business-related stays. The location was a short walk away our Halifax office, and the hotel offered a rather tasty, included breakfast deal, which really helped to kick-start the working day during my stays there. The hotel's location was very handy to historical / cultural attractions of the city, downtown shopping area, and a pleasant walk down to the Halifax harbour area - for sights and sounds of a rather cool, developing cultural and tourist area, with clubs, restaurants, craft shops, and the like. So very convenient and handy to my work-related activities, and close to some enjoyed pleasure times in-between. Rooms were bright, clean, and comfortably-furnished. Service friendly, helpful, and accommodating. And that breakfast fare - a tasty 'continental plus' - with selections of a few hot & cold items - with 'the' best croissants to be found anywhere!!. Good hotel, very stylish and the suites are very nicely sized with upscale amenities and very comfortable. The included breakfast was good with the all the standards: coffee, fresh fruit and a few warm items (no breakfast meats). The roof top deck has beautiful views(but would be more usable if there was a bar or music to make it more of a place to linger) . Still, the hotel is just a few blocks from the beautiful waterfront and easily walkable to all the best downtown spots! Also the staff were very nice. I would definitely stay again. read more

I stayed at this hotel for 6 nights. Location is great. Breakfast that is included was great. Staff were great. Room was not fancy, but it was clean. I rented a car a few days in, asked about parking and where I park. They told me with the pass I could park on the street. I thought it was bizarre it made no sense to me. I asked again and clarified because it did seem weird I could park on the street, staff assured me. Sure enough I got a ticket. I was pissed. I left a review for the hotel, said everything I have already stated, great staff, location, etc., I commented on the parking ticket I received and the staff need to be sure to avoid this again. The manager, Jeremy, contacted me via e mail and refunded my parking for the 3 days said he felt bad about the ticket. I wasn't expecting that. I would stay here again. They also have an awesome Happy Hour by the way. read more

Stayed here for business recently. Outside appearance was just OK, but was pretty modern inside. Location was good in that close to some of the restaurants/bars a block away. Wifi was fine, but liked the wired connection. Free breakfast downstairs was fine, nothing really crazy, but a good option vs. having to go outside. If you do go out for breakfast, hit the waffle truck that is about 2 blocks away and near the City Hall, waffles were great and service was friendly, cheap, and fast. Room was fine and pretty quiet. Rooftop had an outside deck where you had a nice view of the city. Overall, a nice stay and would certainly consider here again in the future. read more

Really nice hotel that is centrally located between Dalhousie University and the heart of downtown Halifax. Everything is walking distance away; shops on Spring Garden Rd, The Public Gardens, the harbour. Very close to restaurants and bars on Argyle St. The renovation is fairly recent and the furniture and deco still felt fresh and new. I was very comfortable on the pull-out couch in the suite I stayed in. Breakfast is included with the stay and it's decent but not amazing. There were two large flat screen tvs in our suites and despite being only a block from the Ale House, it was nice and quiet. There is a special parking garage below the building for guests. I booked a King Suite with a Kitchen & Harbour View here for my girlfriends birthday weekend and it was an absolute nightmare. Worst experience I've ever had in a hospitality setting. I travel a lot for business so I stay in hotels very often, and I was appalled at how rude & inconsiderate the staff at this hotel are. We were thrown out of the hotel in the middle of the night due to a single, very minor noise complaint (low music on a laptop, no speakers, at about 75% volume, and this was at 10:00pm on a Saturday night) and in the process the staff was incredibly rude. They left us with no place to stay, and did not even give us a 2nd or 3rd warning for the very minor noise violation. No offer to move us to a different room, or find an alternate solution, they just threw us out on the streets and told us to find another hotel to stay at. The majority of the occupants in the room were visible minorities, and in their opinion they felt that was a contributing factor in why we were asked to leave the hotel so suddenly with no warning. It was honestly very bizarre behaviour from the manager of the hotel, she seemed slightly unstable. Blair Leber was the manager on duty and her customer service was astonishingly poor. I will never stay here again and would advise anyone reading this review to look for other locations in the city. Four Points Sheraton, Prince George and the Westin are all great options to consider before giving this establishment your business. Even before this incident occurred, the experience was poor. The rooms were not clean, they advertise "free breakfast" but it's actually just an orange and a stale muffin in a brown paper bag, and they also charge $22/night for parking. Do yourself a favour and look elsewhere for accommodations in the Halifax area before booking a room at the Cambridge Suites so you can avoid having a similar nightmare experience. Stayed here with a couple friends. We were talking at about 8:30 pm while getting ready to go get food on a Friday night. The security knocked on the door & told us he was giving us a warning to quiet down. Fair enough. We turned off the lightly playing music and complied. About 5 mins later, someone said something funny so we all laughed and as we were laughing someone starting slamming on the door. We opened the door, same guy. He told us he could hear us at the other end of the hallway. Is he the flash??? How did he knock as soon as we started laughing. He was standing outside our door. Creepy as hell. I wanted to write this letter to express my complete satisfaction and tremendous appreciation for the staff and management at the Cambridge Inn and Suites Halifax. I had to move and there was over a month wait for my new apartment to be ready. So technically, I was homeless. However, at the Cambridge the cozy suites, and staff made it feel like home. The accommodations were impressive. My suite was equipped with a functional kitchenette which was stocked with all the essentials, right down to a can opener and corkscrew. Any kitchenware or utensil, not in the room, the staff managed to find. For example, my daughter hosted her 10th birthday here during our stay, and the staff found chip bowls for us. Which made hosting a kid's birthday party whilst at a hotel so effortless. Then king size bed was so comfortable, it may be the thing I miss most. There was also a pull out couch in my suite which was clean and easy to use. The hotel staff also happily provided me with a playpen and a highchair for my baby. Housekeeping was provided, and was thorough and thoughtful. Cleaning up after a baby is not easy, yet all the housekeepers were always so pleasant. Sometimes to the delight of my kids they'd even arrange their teddies in fun situations like in front of a newspaper reading. Continental breakfast was provided every morning and the food was hot and delicious. The restaurant staff without ever having to be asked, would deliver a high chair to my table before I even sat down. My floor around my baby's highchair was surrounded by her dropped food, and yet they never complained and always smiled and personally greeting each of us. I'm sure the food at supper at the Canvas restaurant was also fantastic although eating out was not in our budget and with the wonderful kitchen in our suite we never needed to eat there. I cannot say enough positive about the staff at reception who greeted us, and treated us everyday. They were always pleasant, always efficient and seemingly effortlessly exceeded every expectation. Valentine's Day we celebrated at the hotel, and my nine year old decided to write Valentines to the staff there. To her surprise and delight they reciprocated on their own time and dime, and bought her a very sweet and considerate valentines goodie bag. It was so kind. Staying at a hotel, in a suite for a month with myself and 16 year old, 9 year old and 10 month old daughters is not typically an ideal situation. Yet the month we spent at the Cambridge was made so convenient and comfortable, every request and service met with a smile. Somehow the Cambridge felt like home, and the staff felt like friendly neighbors. Thank you from the bottom of my heart for making this month and the challenges I was facing so much better. Some friends from out of town were staying at the courtyard while visiting me one summer, and one was celebrating her 21st birthday. We pitched in to buy her a bike and the staff at the Cambridge Suites was very good about helping us keep it a secret from her until the big reveal. We even managed to coerce a friendly front desk worker to show up and sing happy birthday to my red-faced friend. Needless to say it was hilarious and we thanked him and the rest of the staff for going above and beyond in service. The location and price were two great features about staying here. Double rooms are fairly priced and ours had a fridge and sink, with a balcony view. The accommodations have always been great when I've stayed at the Cambridge Suites; it certainly isn't the type of place you need to hide your valuables from room service staff. Hot Hint: It's so close to the Halifax nightlife, which makes it a great place to book for a weekend out on the town. read more

This hotel was very quiet as far as street noise I think because there are no businesses across the street. The beds are really comfortable and everything was modern. They have a roof top for viewing the area though you have to walk one flight up so that would be hard for any handicapped person. Staff were friendly. The room was very clean and had no smell at all which was awesome. The shampoo, conditioner, lotion and soap were from a company in Petaluma, CA (manufactured in Canada though)! What a great hotel! We stayed here a couple days before the start of a bus tour & after it as well. The rooms are nice & spacious, beds are comfortable & decor is modern. Location is great. You can walk to downtown Halifax in minutes. It's still relatively quiet even though the bars etc are a few streets down. When the staff at the front desk (Casey) found out one of the nights we'd be staying was our 1st year wedding anniversary he said he would see if he could give us a little upgrade. Another nice thing, their computers at the business centre have a fast internet connection! Love this hotel. Prices were better than other hotels in the city as well. read more

Let's see: Location: about 4 blocks from the boardwalk and 2 from the Grand Parade. Everything's walkable. Facility: well-maintained, clean, and quiet. We are fairly early to bed people and had no problems with any late night noise despite being proximate to a great deal of night life. Staff: friendly and competent. Restaurant: Only ate the complementary breakfast. Found it more than adequate; calling it continental way understates the nature of the buffet. It is far more than pastry and coffee. Served actual fresh fruit, assorted pastries and other breads, hard boiled eggs, and potatoes. Parking is a little pricey but no more than in other city centers and way less than some of the larger ones like Philadelphia and New York. I would stay there again and recommend it to friends without hesitation. read more

I've been or stayed at quite a few hotels in the city and this is my favourite so far! The rooms are quite spacious and the little kitchenettes are super convenient. The service we received was also above average - front desk staff and the maid service was really excellent. The location is also the best you can ask for. Not only are you walking distance to most places but you get a lovely view of either the harbour or the hill! It's also tucked away enough that it won't get too loud at night - despite its proximity to a few big bars. 15 minutes after checking in the person responsible for cleaning our rooms knocked on our door and asked us if there was anything we needed at all. When asked not to tuck in the sheets of the bed (George Costanza style) they had no problem accommodating. Every time we ran into a staff member we were met with a very friendly smile and nice conversation. No sour faces in the whole bunch! At one point we got a wake-up call (one that was not ordered) and after bringing it to the attention of the staff we were apologized to significantly. My only qualm with the hotel was the breakfast. There was cereal, porridge, bread and bagels, hard boiled eggs and juice. There was some pretty weak coffee and a few selections of teas but with incredibly small cups. And their fruit selection was sub-par at best. It was less than steller - but North American continental breakfast buffets tend not to be the anything to write home about. Last minute notes: there are the standard movies you can order from the rooms but they also have Nintendo games you can rent which is pretty interesting. Judging my the movie prices though I'd be slightly scared of the rental fees. read more

Overdue review!! Booked the largest suite here for a bachelor party in January and was very satisfied. Upon arrival we asked to see the room to make sure it would accommodate our party and they ended up giving us a few options, which was really nice. The room we ended up going with was great for a large group of people as the layout had the bedroom area removed a bit and the common area/kitchenette was pretty open and spacious for a hotel. We were were allowed to bring in our own food and drink and had music playing until the party left to go out for the evening. We requested a late check--out to have extra time to clean up, which they had no problem with. read more

A incredibly nice hotel ruined by rude management and disrespect to customers. I stayed here for my 19th birthday with a group of 4-5 friends. after setting our bags in and finally got comfy with the place, we were greeted with a knock on the door from a man (I'd assume the manager) who told us we had been too disrespectful and we had 5 minutes to pack all our bags and leave or else they were going to call the cops. We tried to explain they must have had us mistaken, as we had only just arrived and were planning on heading out to the streets of Halifax shortly. They rudely interrupted my friend, claiming "they don't want to hear it", and they demanded we left immediately. My friends and I, obviously upset over travelling all the way to Halifax from where we live just to be accused of false claims, tried to further reason and say we need to pack our bags and go downtown, and we won't be home till late. We said that if they really insisted we leave and won't give a choice, then we would leave, and we would sleep in our cars. The manager insisted "that may be for the better", and we watched as he continued down the hallway and DID THE EXACT SAME ROUTINE ON EVERY OTHER ROOM IN THE HALLWAY. We walked the hallway to the front lobby with a group of 10-15 people who had also been falsely removed from the premises. My friend noticed and went to talk to the manager, and as they spoke, a room from down the hall began screaming, laughing, and yelling. My friend pointed out that this must have been the person they were looking for, and they informed us we would be aloud to come back to the hotel for the evening to sleep (which we rightfully already payed for to do so!). Nothing was done to make up for our experience. I don't know if it had to do with overbooking, but If so; handle it professionally. Not false accusations to achieve your goal. I wouldn't recommend this place to anyone, although it is indeed a nice place, that doesn't make up for the experience that I and many others had. read more

I stayed here for a few days in September and I loved it. The guy who checked me in was very informative. Told me about the gym and patio, social event on the one night I was there, and that they had a snack shop. My room was clean and had plenty of space. A microwave, mini fridge, coffee maker, queen bed that was comfortable, desk, couch, sink out side of the bathroom. The bathroom was tiny but I guess if you want more living area you have to cut space some where. I think the bed was very comfortable. I also had a good view at Citadel Hill. I read other reviews and people said they heard a lot of construction. I didn't hear any but I was told that the construction is mainly done. The only thing was I could hear everything in the hall way. I could hear the housekeepers knocking on the doors around me and thought they were at my door. I was on the 6th floor right by the door to the gym and patio so that was annoying here that door banging all the time. In the day it didn't bother me but I had to be up at 3 am for my flight and was annoyed with hearing the banging of that door and people in the hall even though it was like 9 pm. I didn't go down to check out the breakfast or the social they had the one night. I did go up to the patio once and it was an alright view. There was a guy up there taking the cushions inside who was very nice and told me rain was coming and he didn't want them to get wet. I didn't use the gym but just looked like an alright one. VERY unimpressed. If you have to talk in your room I wouldn't recommend The Cambridge Suites. We will never recommend your hotel or brand again, after being told we had 10 minutes to leave or the police would be called for having a conversation in our room with friends. You failed to listen to reason when we tried to explain we were obviously confused with your intoxicated guests across the hall. Horrible Cambridge Hotels experience. read more

Best hotel in Halifax! Stayed there several times and I absolutely love it! The rooms have recently been upgraded, very modern design and are always very clean. Their King Bed Suites are the best for a romantic night and small parties; nearly 600sq feet and has a separate areas for a mini-kitchen, living room, office desk, bathroom, and a room within the room for the bed! The hallways always smell good unlike other hotels that smell like...well, hotels. The staff are always so friendly, helpful and always makes sure that guests have a pleasant stay. This hotel is so amazing that I sometimes feel like they should charge more, but I'm not complaining! (: I would definitely recommend Cambridge Suites to everyone! read more

The furnishings were very nice. BUT - We had a light bulb out over the kitchenette area that was never replaced even after asking twice. The second time my husband gave the bulb to the front desk to remind them. And the drapes have no way of opening or closing them?! Even cheap hotels have rods to close the drapes with. The location is great and the breakfast was average for a continental breakfast. I will try a different hotel next time. read more

The Cambridge Inn is centrally located for staying in downtown Halifax. It's only a few blocks from the water and tons of options for food. We stayed here twice and both times it was clean and quiet. The breakfast was quite good. Parking was $16. Will return! read more

My family and I had a horrible night at Cambridge Suites Hotel last night. From the noise coming from the adjoining room, I am sure they have started renting out rooms by the hour. At 3 am I was awoken by extremely loud slapping, moans and groans coming from the room next door. I waited awhile, hoping they'd finish, but no such luck. When I called the front desk, I was told that they had already been up to address the room occupants, but they'd come back and deal with them again. To James' credit, he did come up several times when I kept calling, but he'd no sooner get in the elevator than the S&M next door would start up again. I finally asked to move to another room, at 4 am. If I had been more awake, I would have insisted that the offending room occupants be moved instead. Both front desk agents apologized for the other guests' behaviour but did not offer to reduce our bill or anything else. Will I ever return to this hotel... NO. Do I recommend it to anyone but my worst enemy... NO! There are plenty of good hotels in Halifax, this is definitely not one of them any more. read more

Recently checked in here for a conference. Upon checking in (to the most unsanitary hotel lobby) there was apparently no parking available due to a gate that was broken and had allowed non guests (concert was going on at the metro center) to fill the underground parking. We had booked parking when I had made a reservation and I was told that I could park myself at the Metro Parking a few blocks away. Upon the hotel finally agreeing to deal with the parking situation, we checked in. Got on to an extremely filthy elevator and went up to our room. We stepped into our room that was filled with a "gas like" odor and found peanuts all over the floor along with other dirt all over the carpet. We decided to check out and once we did we were told that there would be a cancellation fee as it was "their policy" Then finally they advised us that we wouldn't be charged. Will not be going back.
