Naturally I get to the bar and sit in front of the bourbon! Must be destiny!

The hotel is in just about the perfect location! One side is the water and the other side is downtown. You're walking distance from tons of foodie drinkie places and getting around Halifax is a piece of cake from here! The rooms are spacious and clean and the staff was friendly start to finish! I have to shout out Naomi at the bar and the entire breakfast team for all the great service, good food tips, and great care! BTW if you stop in. Here make sure to have their house special chowder and leave room for their carrot cake too. Amazing flavors and everything was so fresh! I hope to be back this way sometime soon and this will be my go to place to stay in Halifax! Thanks to everyone for making this stay special!

I'm in between a 3 or 4 star review for this hotel. It is conveniently located on the harbor with breathtaking views of the town. A close walk to many restaurants and boutique stores. The lobby area is well kept and the restaurant is a great place to grab a bite. The workers are all extremely friendly from the front desk to the restaurant staff. Some things I had problems with is my room had a musty smell. The other thing is the location of the hotel isn't in the safest area with a lot of homeless people just blocks up at the ferry station. One even got inside the building and was being escorted out of the elevator. Which is quite disturbing if you're staying alone at the hotel. And apparently this man sneaks in often which is not okay. Also the doors in the back and the second floor are kept unlocked until about 11pm so anyone can get in. Marriott needs to consider changing those doors to key access only and keeping only the main for everybody to enter so they can see who is coming in and out of the building.

The fanciest hotel in Halifax, or at least that's what Adam told me when he booked it. We figured since we were only here for one night might as well go all out. The hotel is right at the start of the harbour front boardwalk and is near the casino. You're smack dab in downtown and that's what we needed since we'd be walking to explore everything we could in one day. The check in was quick and they were very accommodating. We arrived way before the 3pm check in time but they upgraded us to a better room that was available at the time we arrived (11am). We also got free wifi. The room was very nice and clean. We had a tv, an ocean view, a mini bad with free water bottles, robes, a king sized bed, and plenty of space to leave our luggage open on the floor. Only thing I didn't like is you could clearly hear people talking and walking in the corridors. Made me self conscious about making too much noise and also annoyed me when I was trying to go to sleep. Wish I had had the time to try out their gym and pool! I really enjoyed my stay and would recommend this hotel.

Great location on the water about a half hour taxi ride ($65) from the airport. Lots of shops and restaurants/bars within walking distance and you can do the Harbourfront trail walk from just outside the hotel. There is a bar/restaurant and coffee shop on the main floor.....coffee shop has gf and vegan snacks The room was decent as was the spa and indoor pool on the second floor. We were with a conference and the meeting rooms were standard with tables, chairs, screens, etc. The one set of washrooms on the meeting room floor (2nd floor) were quite far from the meeting rooms. I like the outdoor patio for the restaurant and the sofas/tables just outside the doors.

Going to have to give it one start based on the front desk service. Every day it was something different. Took more time than it should have checking in, could not understand the young man and his instructions on how to get to the elevators, etc. We got in very late, so we appreciated the resturant being open until midnight. My room was across the hall from the wedding party which filled the three door suite on the sixth floor. So loud, so many people knocking on doors. Went downstairs to get another room, again... It took about 10 minutes. When the concierge room opened on Monday, tried to open with my key - denied. I'm a platinum member. Went to front desk, again... It took forever... And he said I didn't have a method of payment on file.... Really??? After all the trips to the desk? And with as many times as I gave them id and credit card...

I am in the unique (I think) position of staying in two large Halifax hotels within a two week period. I'll write the 4 star review of the Marriott Harbour Front Hotel and just mention other as a note to pass on if you have the choice. We came first to this very well positioned hotel at the start of a two week vacation in the Maritimes and spent three great days here. Great location right on the boardwalk with plenty of harbor action right outside the doors and windows. We were lucky enough to be here for the visit of the Tall Ships and the view from our room was amazing. We had one breakfast at the restaurant and liked their coffee bar. Also loved their deck with aderondack chairs. Coming back to start a tour we were down the wharf at the Westin Nova Scotian. It is a bit dated. The rooms are small and it's right next to the train station and cruise port.

A very good location as it's right by the harbour so you're near all the little shops during the tourist season. You can go for a quick walk in the morning and enjoy the view of Dartmouth just across the way. You're about 3 min walk from the ferry that goes to Dartmouth - I took a ride $2.50 across and they gave me a transfer so I could enjoy the scenic ride back and forth which I believe was under 15 mins round trip. There's also a small shopping area that sells great coffee at "Two if by Sea." Restaurants are all about a 5-10 min walk depending which direction you're going. The hotel was a nice conference hotel for me but the room was very noisy. The small fridge was noisy when the fan kicked on - it wasn't just my room as my colleague said the same thing. So that was not good as it disrupted my sleep several times each night during my stay. The walls felt thin too as I could hear children talking in the next room the first night. But overall the bed was comfortable. The food that was catered during the conference was good There is an airport shuttle bus that stops by this hotel if you order online for a specific time. It was about $24 and since we were the last stop, the ride was fairly quick to the airport.

We stayed here for three days from Thursday through Saturday night. This hotel is centrally located in downtown Halifax and is *very* convenient to pretty much everything (walking distance) - e.g., farmers market, MEC, ice cream, restaurants, the Citadel, coffee, banks, etc. - which is one of the reasons we chose to stay here. While the amenities and the setting are definitely 4 stars, the thin walls/doors in our rooms meant that we could hear every little happening out in the halls from our 2nd floor room. Not great, if you're a light sleeper and the noise continues through the night until 3 am! Granted, it was a packed weekend for the marathon, but still...most better classed hotels are able to do a better job of insulating hotel guests against outside noise pollution - esp. the hallways. That's why you usually pay a little extra, right? Otherwise, close proximity to the harbour, helpful & friendly staff, clean sheets, nice warm earthen colors throughout and a recycling bin in the bathroom help save this review. I'd stay here again, but I'd definitely request a higher floor option if possible away from the hubbub and loud action. FYI, there is a walkway connecting this hotel to the casino. A small parking garage below the hotel usually requires one to use the overflow parking near Purdy's Wharf on busy nights as we did on Saturday night. It's a longer walk if you're late for something, so be warned! Also, our room faced the road, so we had no spectacular harbour views, but a loud, somewhat busy road instead from the second floor. (We didn't have much choice due to a busy weekend.) 2 stars for the noise level and 4 stars for everything else = 3 stars. If the noise issue wasn't so bad, this would easily be 4 stars. ***** Forgot to mention that there is free WiFi for guests in the lobby - you have to ask for the code at the registration desk. Otherwise, WiFi is charged in room unless you can pick up the lobby WiFi - we were lucky in that we did being close enough on the second floor. Parking is almost $16 CDN/night.

The kind desk person got me a lakefront room even though the reservation didn't technically say so. They went out of their way to be accommodating and I appreciated it. The lake is beautiful and worth the stay on that side. Beds were comfy with lots of pillows. Body wash, shampoo, and conditioner are provided in the shower in pump bottles. Breakfast is included for hotel guests and offered a variety of hot and cold food options. The breakfast seating area is large, and there is an outdoor deck with tables if the weather cooperates. Everything was clean and the coffee was good. The pool area was clean and I had it to myself for most of the time I used it. There was an arcade on the same floor which I wanted to use (air hockey!) but I ran out of time. There is free parking and it was a short drive into Halifax. It's close enough to the city but far enough out to be quiet and relaxing. I would definitely return.

Well, where do I begin:…read more The hotel is near a convention center - literally across the street. If you're going to the convention center and that's your goal for a quick commute this is your hotel. That was not my goal. It was a family vacation and we wanted a center location for our family to stay. The center location was fabulous. and the staff were friendly enough. Breakfast was fine (eggs, sausage, cereal, bagels, etc on the buffet area). The staff at the breakfast was more than amazing. Especially one waiter - we got there at 930am and several people were running up right before. and he was so good. Breakfast is included and it runs until 10 am. We opted for a studio bedroom with a queen and a pull out couch for our young daughter. When our daughter was pulling out the drawers in the kitchen we luckily realized the knives were in the 2nd to the last drawer to the floor. For the love of god - please move the knives to a higher drawer. Who puts the sharp knives in a low drawer? Sharp knives always go in a top drawer. C'mon people. We had no sheets/pillows/blankets for said pull out couch and had to run and track down a maid who was very gracious to us. We made her bed and thought it was going to be a great night. Well what we did not realize is that the hotel directly faces Maxwell's Plum. What is that? It is a bar with an outdoor funfest. It is loud and will keep you up way past a child's bedtime and then even your adult bedtime if you are one of the lucky guests to have a literal audience facing this. If you come here - I highly suggest you opt for a bedroom not facing this area. Secondly - do not opt for a room near the stairwell either - we had a double whammy. Music and the sound of the stairwell door slamming. Meant for a lovely Friday night. We probably went to bed around 12 or 1? Also it cost $25 to park. We couldn't get out of the parking garage for a while because several people were smoking right in front of the exit location. (Granted not the hotels issue directly but it just added to the fabulous evening we had).

They stand right at the bottom of the ramp and stairs so you cannot avoid them. It stinks, makes you gag, and just looks tacky. If staff, then go out back. If guests, go do it in your car. If others, get rid of them. There is a sign that says no vaping or smoking near the entry, but you still have to get through the crap to get to the entry. Our other main complaint is the air conditioning. The first room had lousy air conditioning. Add to that the huge, sharp, crack in the window (running from top to bottom), a couple other problems, and we were not comfortable. They moved us to another room on another floor, and the a/c wasn't much better. At full blast, the fan didn't circulate well, and you could only feel the cold if you put your hand on the worn metal of the a/c unit. There was a thermometer in the room, and it never went below 75F. We ended up having to buy a portable fan to blow on me while sleeping. Moving around in the room made us too hot, so we rarely spent any time there. My husband, who gardens in 100F weather, even had a cold damp facecloth on his head to keep from sweating. Decorations in the hall and room were broken. The brown towels had bleach stains on them. The microwave was antiquated, and we unplugged it. The little fridge froze our water (although, I guess that could be a plus). If they were to put some love and money into this place it could really shine. We prefer supporting small businesses over major hotel chains, and we like the charm of classic decor, but between the over-heated rooms and smokey entry, we would not recommend this to many of our friends. Truly a shame because, for our needs, the location was terrific and, as previously mentioned, the staff was very nice. SO much potential.
