After I got my first set of lashes done in San Francisco. It wasn't even a week yet and they started to look a lot thinner. I found this place on Yelp and decided to set up an appointment. I told Fria that I got a natural set of lashes (every other lash had an extension) and that I wanted a fuller look. After explaining to her what I wanted, she knew exactly what would fit the built of my lashes. I am so happy how they turned out!!! I was a bit anxious about the adhesive because I had a pretty bad tearing reaction when I got them done in San Francisco. But the adhesive that Fria uses gave me no tearing or sensitivity at all!! Even though I just got my lash extensions done in San Francisco, Fria informed me that most of my lash extensions were grown out and sparse. So she had to remove some of them and it was completely painless! Here is a list to why I gave this place five stars -easy to make an appointment - reasonable prices (also the $119 promotion for any type of lash extensions is a great deal) - the adhesive does not harm or irritate my sensitive eyes - Fria is very quick and gentle on my lashes - clean place - they use faux mink lash extensions that feel so light and comfortable (doesn't even feel like I have them on) - the protection pads they use for my under eyes during application peeled off very easily after I was finished with my session. - My lashes look so natural, full, and are exactly what I wanted. - they tell you what kind of adhesive they use (cyanoacrylate). Unlike the lash extension place in San Francisco who told me they don't give out the name or ingredients used in their adhesive. It has been about 10 minutes since my application and so far I feel no sensitivity. My lashes feel as light as a feather. As opposed to my first set of lashes, which gave me immediate discomfort and a "dry-eye" feeling. If you are ever in San Francisco, don't go to LASH LAb despite their reviews. The Pretty Box gives you the lash extension experience that you should have. No discomfort, lashes that suit your eye shape and lash built, and quick application ( it didn't even take an hour for my full set of lashes). Thank you Fria! I'm definitely going to make an appointment with you soon again! read more

I have been meaning to try out eye lash extensions due to many friends personal experiences and suggestions for my up coming wedding. Meeting Fria was just perfect. She gave me the flutter look and I completely fell in love with it! They were long and curled where they needed to be and she evenly distributed the individual lashes, giving me a fuller lash look. This was my first time ever getting extensions and I barely felt her working! And after she was done and I opened my eyes, it felt light and I didn't even notice it. A few hours later I forgot I had the lashes an went to rub my eye and then i felt them. Oops! Fria is AMAZING! I am absolutely coming back for her and her girls for future appointments! read more

If you have been anywhere else for lashes or its your first time: try her - you won't believe how great the quality of the lashes are and how beautifully she customizes to bring out your eye shape. If there were a 6 star option, I'd give her 6!!! read more

The Pretty Box - Flawless. Every time. - Hair Removal Near Me - La Jolla, California

At first I was a little hesitant on getting eyelash extensions. I mean, I love wearing fake eyelashes. But I am so used used to taking them off right after before going to bed. But after a little convincing from my boss, I finally gave in and decided to try this place out. This place is SUPER cute! Once I walked in, I was immediately greeted by one of the girls there(Iris) who did my eyelashes. She asked what kind of style I wanted (I chose the diva look) and also told me before hand that it would take about an hour to do, I kid you not it didn't even feel like it was that long. We talked about so much stuff and laughed at a lot of things that I literally lost track of time and next thing I knew, I was done. And man, she did a great job at it! I LOVE my eyelashes! Super light weight and I sometimes even forget that I have them on. I'm definitely coming back again in 3 weeks to fill these bad boys up! Haha I'm officially addicted. read more

I am a lash addict- and as any other woman who has gotten them before know, you feel naked without them. **Ali & Fria RULE! (I usually go to Ali simply bc our schedules seem to work but both do amazing work.) Ali gives me luscious lashes on the regular & I couldn't recommend her more. Ali gives you FULL lashes that still look natural. Well, maybe not natural but look like you have purchased the perfect mascara (which we all know doesn't exist!). I already loved her work but realized just how good she was when guys would stop me & compliment me- having no idea that they weren't real. Thank you for making me feel beautiful...and as I tell any woman who asks- "You can have them too!"- just contact Pretty Box. read more

Three stars because in the Yelp world, that means "A-OK." Fria is good at what she does, her salon is kept clean, and after her work, my lashes looked lovely. She took my eyelash extension v-card and I have been hooked ever since. Loss of two stars because of friendliness and price. It appears as if many of you have much different luck, so I don't know why my story is different, but I never felt like a valued customer. It didn't seem like she cared about me or my patronage. I went back to her a second time just in case my initial visit was an isolated incident, but it was the same story. I don't expect to become besties, in fact, I really don't want my ear to be talked off during during an appointment, but I do want to know that I matter and that you are interested. As far as price goes: I was referred by a coworker who said she had a special that month. I believe her full set was $80, or something like that- which is reasonable. I asked about fills and she said they can range depending on how many weeks you wait. The range she gave me was very different from what I was charged after my fill, which made me unhappy. I still tipped her, but resolved that our relationship had to end. I am the type of person who deeply wants to be a loyal customer-- especially to a small business owner. It made me sad to break up with the Pretty Box, but it was for the better. It appears as if we are both doing just fine these days :) read more

I loooove Gela, she created a monster out of me. Ever since she started doing my eyelashes for about 4 months now and I fall in love with myself all over again after every visit. You will not regret it. Go to the Pretty Box and see Gela, she will make you look amazing!!!! read more

I love love love how Fria does my eyelashes! I've been getting my lashes done since 2011, and I have gone to 3 or 4 girls over the years, but Fria is one of the best. She has such a soothing yet friendly energy, is professional, and takes pride in her work. Something that really impressed me about Fria was that out of all the girls I have seen, and all the years I have been getting lashes, the first time she did mine, she noticed that one of my eyes is a little smaller than the other. She mentioned how she noticed this, and she explained that she could use different lengths than my other eye, to even out my look, and by creating dimension a certain way. Sure enough, when she did this, I could tell right away that my eyes looked more even. I think it takes a perfectionist and someone who is really observant, to notice small things like this. Her place is really cute and cozy. It's also really convenient to schedule, because you can just go online to schedulicity.com. and book an appointment. If you've never had your lashes done before and are nervous, I think Fria is the perfect person for you, and if you're a regular lash girl looking for a great esthetician, Fria is the one! I know her salon offers other services as well, but I haven't tried them yet - but I will! Thank you Fria for always making me feel and look glam :) read more

I never thought I would get eyelash extensions but I did and I absolutely love them! Fria does such an amazing job. Getting ready is super quick and easy and I get tons of compliments. Fria is professional, super sweet and her place is very comfortable. I also had the Enzyme Facial the last time I was there and my skin was glowing and I felt so relaxed and pampered when I was done. I highly recommend The Pretty Box. read more

Fria took me in on short notice ! I absolutely love the natural look that she gave me! I cannot wait to see her again!

Very professional. Well organized. Easy scheduling. Cute and clean studio in an excellent location in downtown La Jolla. I have had lashes done by Kali and Fria and both lash artists are fabulous. Working in the military, I need a more natural look and they have accommodated my needs perfectly. Fair pricing as well. As long as I am getting eyelash extensions...Kali and Fria @ The Pretty Box are who I'll be seeing! read more

Fria is amazing! She is so sweet and has taken me last minute a few times (which is a life saver!). She is super time efficient but still maintains a high quality of her service. No matter what I want, Fria always delivers and gives me exactly what I'm looking for. Booking is super easy and the location is super cute and easy to find. read more

I have been going to Fria for a year now and I am hooked! I absolutely love that I can wake up, put on a little powder, blush and lipgloss and I'm ready to go. On the days that I do my eye makeup (which realistically is almost every day) my eyes are that much more dramatic without having to deal with all the eyelash maintenance that I used to do. (Curling lashes, putting on false lashes, million coats of mascara) It is such a time saver and they seriously look so real that I've gotten so many "wow, your eyelashes are so long!" complements. I highly recommend Fria, she is a perfectionist. I can wear my lashes for 3weeks and they still look great. read more

Fria is Amazing! I have been to 5 lashes places in San Diego and none of them hold a candle to Fria's Pretty Box in La Jolla! Fria is a Master Lash Artist Not a hairdresser or esthetician With a side gig of lashes like I have found all I've San Diego My lashes have never looked more natural and beautiful. They are not stiff and plastic feeling like the cheap lashes used at other studios with inexperienced women applying lashes to people's skin. I went to a place that clogged my pores with stiff plastic lashes and I developed a painful stye in my eye. That lasted two weeks ! I couldn't leave the house to drive and had to wear an eye patch For 5 days. Do not trust your eyes to a place where they put lashes in the pores of your lid. I learned the hard way . Everyone is on the lash bandwagon but few lash artists are as masterful as Fria. The added unparalleled bonus is that her studio is relaxing like a spa, beautiful music , and airy and light with natural sunlight from a window. I have tried the rest but now I found the best! Fria is the best kept secret in San Diego. She is also a very sweet and gentle person. Great aura of calm surrounds her. I hesitate to even post this for fear that now I will never be able to get an appointment. Trust your delicate eyes to the BEST ! read more

I was referred to Lauren at The Pretty Box when I ran into a friend of mine and couldn't get over how absolutely incredible her lashes looked. I can't say enough about this gem of a technician and the fabulous work she does! First of all, my lashes are extremely sparse to begin with and one side likes to pull to the left, so it takes a true artist to make them come to life and look perfect. I've tried several lash techs and either they cheated and used triple lashes, or the glue was so thick and hard on my eyes that I couldn't stand them. Lauren listens to what you want and delivers. She's gentle and has never caused any discomfort while she works on me. Not only do my lashes always look like a million bucks, but I can barely even feel that they are there! (Even when I have to go three weeks, they still look amazing!) I'm in the lash game for the long haul so I'm super grateful I found my way to Lauren. She's a true pro and won't break your pocketbook, either! I promise if you go to her, you won't go anywhere else!!! read more

If you are looking to have eyelash extensions, then this is the place! For my wedding Fria made my unflattering flat lashes curl and my eyes stand out, that was 1 year and 4 months ago. That's how long I have been putting my sensitive eyes in Fria's hands. I am hooked! You don't need eye makeup or eyelash curler, just get up and go and wait for the compliments to start. The consistency in her work, friendliness and professionalism keeps me a faithful customer and referring friends. I highly recommend Fria for your beauty needs! read more

I had lash extension a couple years ago and although they were pretty, they bugged the heck out of me. And the process of getting them put on was painful - the glue stung like mad. I decided to go for it again for the simplicity of getting ready on a daily basis and went to Fria at The Pretty Box. What a completely different experience! My lashes look so pretty & natural! And after only a couple hours, I didn't notice them at all, except when I look in the mirror. Fria's quite an artist! Her expertise & quality products are well worth a try.
