Just over a month after the nanny started, she told us she had some changes to her personal life and wouldn't be able to nanny for us anymore. When we brought this to East Wind, they talked to her, and it seems like they probably strong armed her into continuing to work for us when she didn't want to. When she quit a few weeks later, East Wind Nannies was unwilling to work with us to find a replacement, demanding an entire placement fee. Their fee is based on a percentage of the nanny's yearly pay, so we ended up vastly overpaying for a nanny that lasted less than 3 months. Despite telling East Wind Nannies I'd be happy to pay a pro-rated fee and continue to work with them for years to come, they refused to work with us, and so now I feel I must warn any potential future clients of theirs - stay away! They pretend like they're a partner to your family, but at the end of the day they just want to make money, and don't care about a long-term positive relationship with the families they claim to serve.

She has a cute kid friendly set up and is engaging and interactive with the kiddos in learning activities and fun. She was trying to strong arm me into paying her a large tip after she inflated the cost for her service ($ 17 an hour, plus a $ 78 company fee and since she is the business then it's her money, plus valet parking fee at my hotel)...She also ordered herself dinner from my hotel room...Just for the record, I paid all of the above, but she managed to inflate the total cost by $50 dollars and that's when I got my calculator and set it straight... She also strikes me as a compulsive liar who suffers from delusion of grandeur. No mother should have to go through the anxiety and horror of hearing a "nanny" state that they could have kidnapped your kid...If you are like me, your child is your most precious possession in this world and the basic requirement of nannies is to be gentle and trustworthy. p.s. I will add that she did take my daughter around town to the museum and gave her a good time. But my last exchange with her negates all of that: those were words that should never have come out of her mouth or anyone's mouth.

We're thankful for everyone there who has helped her along in her development, as we've seen her grow into the strong and smart and kind toddler she is. As childcare costs keep rising it is rare to find a daycare center that is upfront with you about the cost. This is the only place I have found in Pittsburgh that will actually tell you their tuition rates on their website. They have a waitlist for infants but we got on it during my pregnancy and had no problems getting our daughter in! I have to note that they will be moving out of their current property sometime in the future, but they intend to find a new home in the area, so we're hopeful that we can continue to rely on them for childcare. We're excited that they will be able to design their new location to suit their needs!
