Very disappointed that it took more than 6 weeks and many emails and calls to finally get my son's results.

I highly advise not hiring elite nannies for your childcare needs. They have a cute website (…read morehttp://www.elite-nannies.com/index.html) and seem to be a legitimate business but my experience has been that Elite Nannies is nothing else than a one woman show (Cheryl). That's not however the major problem with elite nannies. The reason I'm writing this review is because Cheryl after watching over my daughter for 2 days while I had an important business engagement in the Pittsburgh area, scared the s...t out of me when she mentioned "jokingly" that she "could have kidnapped her" that is my daughter. She also mentioned that she could have taken my daughter to "her house to see her son"...God forbid what she means by that. Why you ask would she state something so stupid and evil? She was trying to strong arm me into paying her a large tip after she inflated the cost for her service ($ 17 an hour, plus a $ 78 company fee and since she is the business then it's her money, plus valet parking fee at my hotel)...She also ordered herself dinner from my hotel room...Just for the record, I paid all of the above, but she managed to inflate the total cost by $50 dollars and that's when I got my calculator and set it straight... She also strikes me as a compulsive liar who suffers from delusion of grandeur. No mother should have to go through the anxiety and horror of hearing a "nanny" state that they could have kidnapped your kid...If you are like me, your child is your most precious possession in this world and the basic requirement of nannies is to be gentle and trustworthy. p.s. I will add that she did take my daughter around town to the museum and gave her a good time. But my last exchange with her negates all of that: those were words that should never have come out of her mouth or anyone's mouth.

UNPROFESSIONAL, SAFETY HAZARDS FOR CHILDREN, POOR WORK ENVIRONMENT AND POOR MANAGEMENT…read moreOver the course of my employment at The Children's Center of Pittsburgh I witnessed several infractions involving children, staff and employees. There are inexperienced employees without the proper clearances in classrooms with young children and infants. Some of the problems I witnessed were, babies hitting their heads, sleeping on their stomachs and babies being burned by their bottles that were improperly heated. Infants were laid on their stomachs to sleep (if you know anything about SIDS you know how dangerous this can be). There were several inappropriate racial incidents between Caucasian and African American employees. I witnessed children being yelled at and hands being put on children. Two infants fell and hit their heads and no medical attention was given and no incident reports were filed (a legal requirement and the only way the parents know their child got hurt in the centers care.) As an employee I was subject to racial discrimination and I was fired via email for missing two days of work because my child was at Children's Hospital and not responding to treatment. I was sitting in my daughter's hospital room worried about how I am going to feed my child because I am no longer employed, when I should have been worrying about my severely sick child. The director Lynn was unprofessional and a poor supervisor. Several times I went to Lynn and the program manager Bianca with issues that worried me about the care of the infants, and they brushed me off and no changes were made. This is unacceptable, unprofessional and inappropriate. We rehearse for when DHS comes to do their inspection. So, if you chose to send your child to The Children's Center be aware that despite the certifications they hold, those requirements are not put into place on a daily basis. If I was aware of these issues, I would never have my child in their care. My only advice is to use caution when sending your child to The Children's Center of Pittsburgh because your child may be put in harm's way. And I would also recommend looking elsewhere for employment. I hope this helps parents and future employees make the best decision for themselves and most importantly, their children when looking into this center.

I've been swimming for over ??? years and nobody closes their swimming pool midday everyday from 2 to 4 for so-called cleaning and then when you do get in the pool, the same nasty Band-Aids that were in there last week are still floating around at the bottom of the deep end. Locker rooms and showers are a gross too.

I'm only giving stars for the swim Instructor V. This place doesnt deserve a star ((review for…read moreaquatics only)). She was amazing teaching swimming patiently. I learnt alot. But its very very sad that YMCA cancelled ADULT SWIM classes on days where numerous adults would be able to attend. Now since they cancelled most classes, they only have 1 class per level on sundays!!?????!!!!!!!!!????!!! What about for ADULTS that work weekends? There is no one to talk to in the facility either. They say to talk to Aquatic director but to NO AVAIL.-- they dont talk to you, and if they do, its to PLACATE you to make you shut up & move out their door. I feel this YMCA has uselessly arranged classes not benefiting the population but only benefitting the facility with a lott of financial cuts.. This is very very very sad. They dont seem to REMEMBER nor be AWARE that there are adults who WORK ON WEEKENDS. They have lost 3 adults who WANT to learn swimming with this facility. This is very upsetting. P.S. you CANNOT make up a missed day if you as a woman have you menstrual cycle,. They do NOT allow you make it up. Disgusting. May as well go to british swim school who atleast have days for adults & allow a woman to make up classes due to having her menstrual cycle. Absolutely abhorrent.

It's not a "chain" of daycares, so it feels very homey. Whatever changes BLA has made over the past 5 years, it's working for us. I highly recommend Bright Light Academy to anyone seeking childcare in the area. Within about a week of being at Bright Light, and after I had been a stay at home mom for many years and they had never left my side, they were waving goodbye and walking into class by themselves. The staff are compassionate, friendly and professional and tremendously eased their initial separation anxiety. My youngest does both speech and occupational therapy. Both therapists worked at other daycares and told me they had started recommending Bright Light to their friends who are expecting and to parents looking for daycares. Not only does the staff welcome the therapists into their classes, but they keep me up to speed on his therapy sessions' progress and they carry out what the therapists instruct him to do. The director abides by the rules and takes them seriously. While this may be misundertood by some, I would rather leave my children in the care of a professional who follows the rules and abides by the law and who I can trust to leave my children with. Not only that, but she only hires the best staff to work alongside her. Also, at a time of political and religious conflict, and as a family with very different backgrounds in those aspects, she has made us feel welcome, we were treated with a lot of compassion and respect, and she has taken the time to stop and ask me about our culture and beliefs and has been very respectful to them, which you would not see happening at your average daycare! Thank you to everyone at BLA who participated in shaping the lives of our sons emotionally, socially and intellectually and have been a second home to our boys.

We had our kiddo…read morethere (he started a little after 12 months), and there was a range in the quality of teachers like at most other daycare. I did notice some teachers in the older kids' classrooms sharply yelling/screaming at kids from time to time (not what I wanted for our kiddo, but he wasn't in that room, so it was a "cross that bridge when we get to it" situation). The problem was the purposeful lack of communication and withholding of information. The director and company knew their lease was up. They knew their new space wasn't finished yet (literally not built, and no occupancy permit). They knew in January it wasn't going to be ready and ended up asking for lease extensions for about 4 months. They never told parents about this tenuous situation; it was always just, "oh, we'll be moving in [insert new month]." Not a word that construction wasn't even going on at the new place because BUILDING PERMITS hadn't been issued, and that they had no other backup plan. Well, the lease extensions ran out entirely and the building owner told them they had no more extensions and had to vacate. Did they tell parents? No. They waited until there was just 2 weeks before abruptly telling parents their only Pittsburgh location was closing. Oh, but we could request to be put into one of their suburban locations, the closest of which was 30 minutes+ each way with traffic (and at least 45 minutes driving near the end of the day because of rush hour). So, at least 2 hours each day of driving to/from daycare; out and back, out and back. Even getting a straight answer from them about which suburban location they'd place my son at was a nightmare. We had no other option, because they purposefully waited so long to tell us parents what they had known for months. We did the 2 hour drive for two weeks to see if it would work, while frantically searching for other daycares with open slots. The suburban location also treated anyone from the city like a second class citizen. Suburban staff acted like the Pittsburgh kids weren't their problem, they were just taking up space; it really seemed like there had been no planning or communication about the Pittsburgh kids coming. NO PLAN for parents to sign kids in and out; wouldn't let us use the electronic sign-in/sign-out system the suburban parents got to use, wouldn't give us door codes like we had at the other location and like they had for their suburban parents (until Pittsburgh parents repeatedly complained), no bins for kids to store stuff like extra clothes (and they literally had empty bins in my son's room; I heard a Pittsburgh teacher politely ask if they could use them for our kids since they were empty, and she was VERY FIRMLY shot down, "No. You CANNOT use them." No explanation.), not enough hooks, etc. for coats/hats/mittens, and they crammed all the Pittsburgh kids into one classroom regardless of age: infants, one year olds, and older toddlers all in the same room. Napping was a nightmare. I felt so bad for the Pittsburgh teachers. All in all, I wouldn't trust this company or the Pittsburgh Director (Maggie) again. The two stars is only because we had one excellent teacher who we really liked and miss. Hilarious note: the company employee's five star post was posted AFTER they closed this location.

Her communication is absolutely horrendous and extremely unprofessional. An alleged abuse incident involving my child and his behavioral tech occurred at the facility and was reported to DHS by daycare staff. Yet, Maggie - the director - never called us to tell us this happened. We only found out because DHS called us to come to our HOME and investigate. When we questioned Maggie about it she said, "I didn't want to bother you with it". Are you kidding me?!?!? Whether this report was unfounded or not, we - the parents - should have been notified. That's communication 101. This is just one example of her poor communication but I have an entire list. *Also... people who have been accused of child abuse work here. Leadership will tell you it's unfounded / retaliation between disgruntled teachers and maybe that's truebut I wouldn't risk it if I were you.
