There are some days where things just aren't going your way. Not only did our WiFi go out, but our apartment was doing fire alarm testing AND I had a ton of meetings scheduled. Port workspaces to the rescue! I actually live in Jack London so it was a quick 10 minute walk over. I love how easy it was to buy a day pass online and they happened to be running a promotion so I saved $5 too! John the community manager was beyond friendly/ helpful and he gave me a quick tour of the facilities once I was inside. This place has everything you would need from a co-working space - free coffee/ tea, a ton of open desk space and phone booths for calls. There's even a slide that'll take you from the third floor to the first should you choose to end your day that way :) Definitely recommend this spot if you're looking for a coworking space! read more

I'm not a member here but have a colleague who does, so I've attended a few meetings there. It's a pretty large space with 3 floors, and a combination of open bullpens and conferences rooms. I haven't been in every room but it seems to work well, the space is clean and professional, there common area is well stocked with dishes, coffee, cereal, etc. The wifi works well enough to get the job done. I haven't been to many workspaces or Port workspaces, but I like it so far. read more

Great: Location (seriously an amazing spot - beautiful walks by the water, fantastic lunch spots, etc), very reasonable price, friendly in-person staff, other tenants are great, density is totally reasonable, coffee, cold filtered water. Wonderful to have an elevator to make the space accessible. Nice little phone booths. OK: Facilities (a little dated, but fine), could use better HVAC/ventilation. Internet speeds acceptable. Usually can find an office if you need a meeting. Meh: There's no front desk service here so it can be pretty hard to get in without tailgating if your RFID is at home. Nobody answers the doorbell. Terrible: During the coronavirus lockdown, many equivalent services either paused membership fees or gave people an option to do so. Not The Port - they kept on auto-billing the full amount, refused to offer an option to pause membership, and keep on billing for at least month after cancellation is requested. I'm empathetic that their rent still needs to get paid, but not offering their customers any options other than cancelling and still billing them for another month is the most anti-tenant stance I've seen of any coworking space in the Bay Area. read more

I don't have long-term experience with this particular Port location (I spend most of my time at City Center) but I do love to work there on occasion. Which brings me to the fact that it's so cool that The Port Workspaces, as a company, has four unique locations, all so easy to access and do business in. It is also part of a national network of workspaces so, a Port member has drop-in office options all over the US. Back to this particular Port location. Small, intimate, quiet, and cool. The kitchen is outfitted with various condiments and accouterments for cooking or heating up leftover Yammy's, the offices and work areas are spacious, and there's even a tube slide for shooting downstairs from the third floor in case of extreme restlessness. This location is also very Jack London Square, which has its own vibe that I happen to love. Brick walls, industrial modern, spare in a warm way. So, bottom line, this Oakland company keeps getting it right. The Port Workspaces simply work, and they work beautifully. read more

I have been operating a boutique branding and design agency out of The Port Workspaces at 101 Broadway in Oakland for a few years now. If I were strategic I would NOT submit a review on Yelp* and I would NOT say how fantastic it has been for fear that there will be too many other small business owners looking to set up shop here and limit the supply and possibly drive rent prices upward. I might regret this... if you want to work in the best co-working offices in Oakland--and by "best" I mean the most super chill, under the radar, and welcoming spots--you should check this place out. I frequent The Port's sister location down the street on Washington, but have toured this new space prior to opening. It's quite amazing what The Port team did with the inside of this space. They kept the amazing history of this building located in the historic Jack London Square waterfront, while renovating it to a modern open workspace. The location is ideal with lots of opportunities for eating and walking around, as well as it being easy to get to from Bart and by car. The manager of the place is incredibly friendly and helpful! My small business moved into the Port workspaces when San Francisco office space prices went way beyond crazy. It's one of the best decisions we've ever made. The space is really great. Location at Jack London is awesome. Close to the ferry and two BART stops. Tons of great restaurants and bars. But the best thing is the people. Everyone's cool and respectful. The staff at The Port are exceptionally nice and they put on all kinds of events and luncheons that bring everyone together and foster a great community. I love the Port -- I've been a member at another coworking space and visited quite a few others, and the Port is by FAR the best. I like that there's actually community spirit here (although it's also fine if you just work at your desk and don't talk to anyone) and a lot of events and chances to interact. The staff is super responsive, friendly and open to new ideas which helps build that community spirit. It's also super clean and the diversity of the spaces available means that you can find the perfect noise level for you (I heart 101 Broadway but the other two locations are great too). read more

I started working from home after switching industries and quickly realized I enjoyed "going into work" to get focused. I checked out a few places in Oakland/Berkeley/SF and the port was the best fit for my work style. It has open spaces, natural-lighting and they did a great job keeping the historic feel of the building while adding the modern needs of the coworking space. People have taken upon themselves to put together regularly scheduled dinner/happy hours where everyone is invited: it has an inclusive atmosphere. All of the staff is very responsive and the owner stops by regularly to check up on improvements and get feedback. Food close by is good too. read more

Awesome co-working space! Everyone is very friendly and willing to network. There are several events hosted, including member lunches and happy hours. The location is fantastic right at Jack London Square, can walk down to the water (across the street) if you need to get a way from the computer for a minute and relax. Plenty of bars and restaurants in the area including a new awesome country bar and grill in the building downstairs called Overland with the best happy hour in the city! Definitely check out the spaces and take a ride in the slide. There is a ping pong/ pool table down stairs also which is free to use. Plenty of indoor secured bike parking also read more

The cross-section of Oakland's diverse tech, small business, arts, and independent proprietor community is well represented here. Several Pro-OAK initiatives and start-ups live at The Port Workspaces offices. Most of all - it's a fun place to be. There are many ways to use this place, so it's hard to generalize, but it's often loud and noisy (especially in common areas). There always seems to be interior construction of one kind or another. A train goes through Jack London Square regularly and it blows its whistle the whole way. Management could be more responsive to and considerate of tenants. read more

I really like the Port Workspaces. There is plenty of space, types of seating, padded phone booths, nice conference rooms, and decaf coffee (why is this so hard to find?). The staff has always been very helpful and they are open to new ideas. Plus, it feels much more of a community than other workspaces that I've experienced. In addition, I like the slide, but you might opt to have a meeting at the 317 Washington space if you think the slide is a problem for your clients and partners. read more
