It was OK. We went here last weekend. I'd never heard of it before, but my wife had a nice time here a month ago having brunch with a friend. This place seems more style over substance, for me. It's a beautiful old house, very out of place here in Texas. It reminded me of the houses I grew up in back in New England. It has been wonderfully converted into a restaurant. The server was great, the owner talked to us, checked in. The food, I think, is lacking. Especially for the price. We each had a mixed drink. Mine was, ok. I had the Summer Suitor which is an odd mix of bourbon and sparkling wine. I was a little weird to me - quite sour, not the best mix. For dinner I had their special - a steak frites. Plenty of shoestring fries. But, my steak was raw. I think I asked for it medium or medium rare. This was the first time in my life I had to ask for a steak to be reheated. I think they just left it back under the warming lamps for 5 minutes which helped little. For the prices and the stories we heard about where their meat comes from and the pride they take in their food, I wasn't expecting this. The sides were ok but not great. The truffle mac and cheese - all I can say is what I mainly tasted was the wax-coated paper container those bread crumbs came from. It's so odd. I was excited to truffle mac and cheese but it did not do it for me. Again, for the price, I've had better. The Brussel sprouts were ok but undercooked for my liking. The asian inspired sauce they come in is excellent. My wife had their ahi tuna special and raved about the romesco sauce on top, which we've never seen before on tuna but she liked it a lot. The owner told us about the people that owned the block and moved this building and other houses to this location. All I could think of is that must be why it's so expensive. Rent must be killer! It started off great. The place is really cute and has a warm, homey atmosphere that makes you feel like you're dining at someone's home. The host greeted us and personally brought us to our seats, and the service throughout the evening was good. The owner even stopped by our table, which was a nice touch. We ordered our meal along with a bottle of wine and were enjoying the experience. When our steak arrived, it wasn't cooked to our preference, but they were happy to take it back and correct it. The fries, unfortunately, were extremely salty. And this is coming from someone who actually likes salty food! They were so salty that they were difficult to eat. We mentioned it to our server, and they kindly replaced them. The second batch was much better. I was a little surprised to see the fries still included on the bill. I certainly don't expect items to automatically be removed whenever there's an issue, especially since they did replace them, but considering the first serving was essentially inedible, removing the charge would have been a thoughtful gesture and a nice way to acknowledge the inconvenience. Overall, there were definitely things we enjoyed about the restaurant--the atmosphere is charming, the service was attentive, and everyone was welcoming. There were just a couple of details with the food and how the situation was handled that kept the experience from being as great as it started. For us, dining out isn't just about the food--it's also about the overall experience and feeling that our business is valued. While there were several things we enjoyed about this restaurant, this experience fell a little short in that regard. My husband got the 21oz ribeye for dinner (MP $120) however it arrived with about 5-6 oz of fat. We are frequenters at YO Ranch / Nick & Sam's and were a bit disappointed in the cut here. Ultimately, should have ordered the smaller steak for same amount of meat (ie ny strip). The waiter relayed our disappointment to the chef and manager but nothing more. I would've been happy if they just knocked $10 off, anything to acknowledge that the cut of meat was sub par. I went in there earlier today and as soon as we walked in the hostess was so rude. She rudely said do you have a reservation and we replied no but do we need one and she said no but it is preferred. Mind you the establishment was empty so at that point I turned to leave and she responded well I can seat you at the bar. I turned to her and said not thank you because I don't like you. But Every time we've been there, the food has been so midtier. Like it's missing some flavor - a little bit plain. It was not a romantic or cozy date environment as they had these awful bright little square recessed lights blasting white fluorescent light. Our company of 4 arrived on time and was seated quickly by the night manager. As we reviewed our menus and placed our orders with our server, he proceeded to loudly announce the COST of each item we ordered, as if we didn't see the price on the menus in front of us. He also repeated that behavior with the table to the right of us but did NOT repeat that behavior with the "other" tables in our area. Excellent place for a good meal, stunning surroundings, and knowing that you're getting the best of the best ingredients. My husband and I came for Valentine's Day, and we weren't disappointed. The owner stopped by to say hello, and she was down to earth and lovely to talk to. Her uncles ranch provides the meat (aging the steak for 28 days? And it showed in the tenderness!). We got the wedge salad (the ranch and bacon carried it with fresh deliciousness), the tenderloin, the meatloaf special, a side of Brussels sprouts, french fries, pomme fondant, and roasted squash. The steak and meatloaf were AMAZING and the veggies were some of the best. They do their vegetables perfectly. The potatoes were not the items of the hour, but who doesn't like em. For drinks, we got the pomme creme, and the paper plane. My husbands plane was one of the best, and he's hooked on those. The pomme creme was similar to a homemade eggnog I made, which was perfectly holiday. We came back for brunch with my in laws, and they were just as impressed. I had the croque pulled pork which was pretty good, my husband had the Birria tacos which was fully homemade (including the tortillas) yum, we also had the chicken and waffles + steak and eggs (although the wrong temp). All were yummy. The drip coffee here is also exactly what you want at breakfast with a dab of cream. Where we could see improvement on the second visit was the service. We loved finally being able to check out the Porch Pour in Midlothian, TX. We made a reservation online for a Sunday evening, which wasn't necessary as they weren't very busy at 6pm on a Sunday. We sat out on the patio and it was great weather so that was a plus. The seating out there was plenty and comfy. The wait staff and host were very pleasant and helpful during our visit. Our food was ok, I had the special that day and it was really god, but the new york strip was a little fatty for our taste. We also ordered the Sweet Fire Flatbread which i didn't really like the cheese spread they had on it but the other toppings were good. Overall this is a great place to go have drinks or dessert and just hang out or for happy hour. The only thing that was cooked was the pork the pineapple wasn't cooked just had some grill marks didn't have any of the flavor I was looking for from a grilled pineapple. The fries were half cooked. The food has always been excellent, and the atmosphere vintage. The building is beautiful, inside and out. The bar has unique decor. The service has always been great when we've visited. if you're in the DFW area, this is roughly an hour or so south of Dallas, depending on exactly where you're coming from. A Victorian House from the 1890's that the amazing mixologist told us all about! She knew where it was moved from, how many pieces it came in, what the different rooms used to be, and a story about family members visiting that used to live in it! And fyi... mixologist is a way over used term in DFW... she IS a mixologist! The staff couldn't have been more friendly, more knowledgeable, or had better timing with food and conversation. The obvious pride that they have in their job, the food, and their entire establishment shines through. The food... simply wonderful! They weren't too busy but the hostess did recommend reservations if we came back. She said they get pretty busy. Our server was great. Just attentive enough. The food and drinks were great! We started with the truffle hog fries. They were flavorful and delicious! Perfect combination of ingredients. I was worried about the truffle oil. One drop too much and a dish is ruined. They had just the right amount. Enough to compliment and not overpower the dish. I had the bolognese and green goddess salad. The salad was really good. The pasta was good but lacking the umph that the other dishes had. Suprisingly needed a touch more flavor. My husband ordered the pork chop with red wine apple mostarda. I tasted it and OMG!! One of the best pork chops I've ever had. I keep giving him the flirty eyes so he'd share with me lol. I'll definitely order that next time. Okay sooo I wish I could give separate ratings for the food, service and management. The sever (Tina) was absolutely amazing and deserves the highest stars available! The food was subpar and the lack of handling service failures by management would be why the rating is as low. We came in for the first time and were greeted and advised of happy hour. We were sat at a table and unbeknownst to us, happy hour only applied to the bar. I grabbed grace to the found lady that was the greeter on that part . The food came out and my fries and steak frites were soaking in grease and since it was late and I'm not fan of remakes, I didn't eat it nor was it taken off the bill. Since I was out having a great time with my guy, I didn't feel like complaining. I called the next day and spoke to manager "Ylolly" spelling may be incorrect: and I explained the situation, offered photos of the meal and she never offered one thing to get me back in the door if this restaurant. She raves about the pork chops and she wasn't wrong It's a quiet place for a date or group gathering as well because they have a large bar downstairs and plenty of seats. I recommend trying the pork chop because that was one of the best cuts of pork chop I've ever had and the way it was cooked was perfection. I really enjoy the Founders Row area in Midlothian and was excited to try out The Porch Pour. It's an old Victorian home that brings all the charm. I met a friend here for Sunday brunch. It was nice outside so the lovely host sat us out on the patio. I started with a mimosa and candied bacon. The bacon had just the right amount of heat and it was good. I ordered the chicken & waffle.
