We waited 5 mins then walked to the bartender to ask if we should just sit down-- he said he would call the hostess from the back. She seemed flustered but friendly and seated us right away. She took our drink order immediately and we also ordered the Cantina Nachos with carne asada to share. The appetizer arrived within minutes and we placed our lunch orders when she brought our drinks. So far everything seemed on point. The taco orders (3 per person) came within 5 mins and they were really tasty/spectacular (since our first time visiting we tried the Carne Asada, Birria, Chorizo, Zihuatanejo Shrimp, and the Pollo Verde--served with rice and pinto beans/black beans--everything was A++ for taste.) A gentleman from the back served us these tacos and we asked for drink refills because our waitress never returned. We noticed a sizable line at the hostess station with no hostess again. Two women with a child left after waiting 10 mins, a policeman was waiting in line also left, 3 working men in construction vests seated themselves at a table close to the bar (they later left after waiting a while and never saw the waitress). We did see a woman dressed in black who seemed to be carrying bagged takeout orders up to the front but she did not wait tables. After 20 mins of no drinks we went to the bar ourselves to ask about the drinks. The bartender apologized; one of us flagged down the waitress who seemed overwhelmed. She was waiting a table of 2 women who had been sitting for 15 mins with no beverage/food ordered. Another worker came out to bring their order in 2 mins but it turned out to be the order for an adjacent table. It was very clear that either someone did not show up for work shift or there was some other front of house/server crisis. From the first time we placed our food order at 11:12am until we flagged down the woman carrying takeout orders so we could get our bill at 12:07pm, no one ever came to our table to refresh drinks, to ask if we wanted/needed anything else--no service whatsoever. I paid the bill on the InKind app (which had recommended Belair Cantina in the first place) and we left the table. As we walked out, I mentioned to the beleaguered waitress that we paid via app, and she said "thanks, I'm so sorry". Not sure what else to comment. Does spectacular food taste/quality overcome dreadful service issues?
