I decided to use their services to close down my pool this year, and this has caused me a huge headache. My pool has a dial timer in which there are two screw-on pegs that turn the pump on and off. Just under the dial is the on/off switch that those pegs interact with. The technician manually turned that on/off switch to the off position instead of the breaker that is on the same panel. Since he turned the wrong switch off, the 8am setting turned the pump on after it was winterized. The next day around 2pm I walked outside to see my roughly two month old pump smoking. I called Splash and was informed that the tech had to turn the unit off to winterize the lines. It felt as if I were being accused of turning on the pump after it was closed. She explained that this was out of her hands and she would have someone call us back. Later that day a man called and said basically the same thing.

When the technician arrived, he briefly explained the issue over the phone but admitted he couldn't give me an estimate because his team hadn't finished diagnosing the leak. Because they required my credit card information on file to schedule, they simply charged my card $409 after completing the work without my prior approval of the final cost. This breakdown included $300 for just 1.5 hours of labor, under $30 in parts, plus the $40 dispatch fee. Charging an exorbitant rate without providing an estimate or upfront pricing clarity feels predatory and dishonest. I strongly recommend getting written cost estimates and clarifying every detail before letting them perform any work.
