I agree with the other reviewers regarding the rude and non-helpful staff. My husband and I stopped in earlier this summer not for pool supplies but to look at the patio furniture they sell. The store was having a sale on a a particular brand of outdoor furniture. My husband was interested in two outdoor chairs with Sunbrella cushions from this line to use on the deck of his boat. When we arrived early on a weekday afternoon, there were several staff members (but few customers) at the front of the store where the pool supplies are located. In the back of the store there was a lone salesperson helping a customer. We browsed around while we waited for this salesman to finish with that customer. As we browsed we located the two chairs and cushions we wanted in the showroom. Minutes were ticking by and yet the salesman was still tied up. Thirty minutes later when I circled back to where the salesman was standing to be sure he knew we were still waiting, I heard him and the customer talking about personal things...her daughter's graduation from medical school, where her daughter was moving for her medical residency, about his family, and on and on and on they went without a care in the world. I was urging my husband to leave and call it a day but the chairs were the exact ones he was hoping for so we stayed. ONE HOUR later we were still waiting for assistance with no acknowledgment of our presence. My husband excused himself to the yakking customer and salesman and inquired if there was someone else who could help us. The salesman said that he was alone and would be with us "as soon as possible". A few minutes later (steam was coming out of my ears I am sure) my husband went to the front of the store and asked for a manager. Out the manager came already in a rude and surly mood, clearly irritated at having been summoned. He could not have cared less that we had waited for over an hour. If looks could kill, the manager would have had us dead and buried in a nano-second. At the front of the store at this point, there was one customer and yet several employees. Could not one of the unoccupied salespeople up front have helped us in the back? From the manager there was no apology about the lack of greeting to us, no apology for the length of the wait, no explanation why no one else could help us...just his surly visage. At this point, the other outdoor furniture customer was (finally!!) leaving thus freeing up the original salesperson. At this point, we had been in the store for an hour and 15 minutes just of time spent waiting. Tick-Tock. We did ultimately buy the outdoor chairs (although it killed me to spend money in this place) which cost us $1000 plus dollars so it's not like we were spending an insignificant amount of money. But it shouldn't matter. Customer service is everything. Having staff trained in customer service is everything. Being courteous and kind is everything. The manager was rude and discourteous. The salesman was hapless and addled. We still don't know why no one else in the store could help us including the "manager". We have a yard, a live-aboard boat and a pool...and I mention this only because these things all require products sold by this store...ie the reasons for this sad store's existence. That said, I can promise the manager and owner that we will never be back for anything nor will we recommend this store to others. I rarely, rarely, rarely give one-star reviews. In fact I can't remember the last one star review I wrote. While I am cautious and thoughtful about giving a one star review, I am confident that this is the perfect rating in this instance. read more

They don't stand by the products they sell. Bought a Hayward pump there seized in 3 years. Wouldn't even look at it said I needed to contact Hayward. I've done a lot of business there won't ever shop there again. Plus their staff isn't very knowledgeable about anything they sell. read more

everyone else I know with a pool spends the whole summer guessing why their pool is cloudy/ green, throwing random chemicals from Ocean State in and they may finally get their water looking half decent by the time they have to close it. I choose to go to the Pool Place. Because ain't nobody got time for that. I get my pool up and crystal clear by Memorial Day weekend. In the fall I follow their directions on how to close, and take off the cover in the spring to sparkling water. Once I started using them 5 years ago and my water was balanced, there are times when I go there and they sell me NOTHING. They check my water and tell me it's good. And I leave. They are honest. Some people are under the impression that pool stores are out to rip them off just because they try to sell them something other than shock. Pools need more than that to have healthy water. Do not have your water tested here . They will intentionally destroy your water chemistry so they can sell you more expensive chemicals. They use pool chemical limits that are way outside recommended limits. Owner does not understand what it takes to maintain a pool. His numbers are way higher than the norm. He even ruined is demo pool one year by using well water with a lot of iron in it. When he shocked it he severely stained the liner. He should have know better. read more

I was reluctant to write a review like this because I don't complain about service, I can usually figure things out on my own with a bit of help... This place was NO HELP! I am new to the pool world, and I'll learn, but certainly NOT from this place. They were the MOST UNHELPFUL place I've ever been to. I can't believe they are even open with their terrible service. Bad customer service. I bought a pool sand filter and motor in July 2016. $275. Used it for 1 season. 1 season later I went to start it and it just hummed. So I brought it back today (June 2017). The first thing the man said was I have to contact the manufacturer, that they won't warranty it. After a bit of arguing I said fine, just fix it and I'll pay. He then said, WITHOUT EVEN LOOKING AT IT, that it was not fixable. He went on to say it was a throw away filter that will only last for 2 season. For $275???? He would not budge and offered no help. I have shopped here for years without needing much in the way of special attention. Just walking in and getting whatever chemicals I needed. They were always a dollar or two cheaper than the next guy. I went to their website on Saturday and printed a coupon page that they have before heading over to buy a summer's worth of chlorine, etc for my pool. When the cashier rang things up they were exactly twice as much as the coupon said they should be. The person in charge of the store at the time came over and brusquely told us that it's more " because you have to pay sales tax" after explaining to him that sales tax shouldn't add hundreds of dollars to the tab he looked at the coupon and said "this is wrong, it should say 50 lbs, not 100lbs of chlorine, I can't give it to you for that price" we asked for clarification and he reiterated the same thing adding that he'd be screwing himself so "I don't know what to tell you but I'm not giving it to you for that price". We were stunned and asked again if there was anything he could do because it is the legal obligation of a business to honor any offer that they put out, even if it's incorrect. He acknowledged that that was true but said again "I'm not giving it to you for that price, I don't know what to tell you" He said that one of his suppliers gives them that info to post on their website and it was wrong. Obviously no one proof read this info before posting it. No offer for a few dollars off or anything, just too bad, no soup for you! Now I need to find another pool place. read more

I had to get some pool supplies for my pool. Naamco is out of business and Avon. You're kind of the mercy now to go here. It's the only pool place around if you're in a pinch! I had no problem with the service at all. It's just the prices are much higher than that of Naamco. It's just more convenient here. read more

Rude non helpful owners and staff! All they want is to make a sale and after that no help what so ever. They do anything possible to get out of any warranty repair or refunds on defective equipment. Stay clear of these people! Complete scammers! read more

This place has everything you need to maintain your pool and pro's who know what their talking about. I've been going to them since our in-ground pool was installed about 12 years ago. Any part they don't have they'll order for you plus they will give you instructions on how to replace it. And their chemicals are really good quality. Much better than the ones at Walmart and Ocean State. Prices are very reasonable and there is always plenty of help at the store especially on weekends! read more

Awful customer service and worst attitude of any business I have ever been to. We ordered a liner for our pool and we were told 3 weeks it would be in. On the third week we called to find out when it would arrive, we were left on hold for 25 minutes, we call back to be told "well we are busy hold on" waited another 15 minutes and finally someone picked up took our name and told us it will be another 3-4 weeks. After explaining that we were told 3 weeks, the individual tells us that was me and I never said 3 weeks!! (Mind you he absolutely told us that we have nothing to gain by making that time frame up) he then debates the issue and is rude and arrogant about the entire situation. I asked him are you the owner he said no I'm the manager. When asked to speak with his boss he says I am the boss "I'm the manager" we then ask to speak with the owner he says there is no one above me I'm it. I again ask if the owner can call me he says I am the owner(seriously) so you just went from the manager to the owner in 3 seconds and then tells me it's a family business (and exactly what does that have to do with any of this?) I wouldn't buy anything from this store even if my pool was green and they were the only store around (by the way, they are not there are several others) please stay clear of this place as they clearly have zero care when it comes to their customers so ask yourself do you think they put any care into their products or practices?? USE CAUTION!!!! I have shopped at this place for years and was always happy with my purchase. Even, the purchase of a bistro set at the beginning of the summer season worked out great. However, I will not go back after my most recent purchase. On 8/15/11 I purchased a wicker love seat and chair along with cushions. When the furniture was delivered this week the cushions for the chair were soiled and worn, totally unacceptable. When my husband returned them, he was told they were display pieces , and Shannon the sales rep, just shrugged her shoulders. I would not have purchased display cushions. They would not order new cushions and since it was too much work to return everything we took the display cushions that were on the floor that day because they were in better condition. An e-mail to the store complaining about the situtation went unanswered so I did give them the opporunity to make things right. I will not be making future purchaes from this store. read more
