My pond pump stopped working so I called thinking it was probably time for a new pump. Sure enough, there was a large rock that had destroyed the propeller. The tech installed the new pump and all was well till later that afternoon when the new pump stopped working .A tech showed up the next morning to find that one of my goldfish had gotten down where the pump was located and it had caused the new pump to stop working. What a shock that was to everyone. The new pump is working great now . Both Techs and office personnel were very professional and courteous. A great company to deal with. read more

Not cheap, but very knowledgeable and professional. Our water feature was overflowing. Not severely, but a slow trickle, which adds up over time. They had me send photos of the original installation (which, fortunately, I had) before the tech showed up. The tech was very friendly, didn't mind me watching, and explained what he was finding as he went. Turns out that the auto-fill float was defective. That particular model deteriorated over time, which is why they don't use that anymore. He installed new floats (our feature has three separate basins, all of which were overflowing), made sure they were working, and it's all good now. He also showed me the piece that deteriorated. A bit expensive, but competence costs. They are licensed, bonded, and insured. I don't claim to be an expert about ponds, but the tech knew what he was doing, and we no longer seem to have a problem. He also wrote-up an observations sheet, indicating what he saw, and possible future recommendations (e.g. it is likely we'll have to replace one of the pumps, but he said "use it until it dies, then replace it", and vacuum out the muck more frequently -which he told me how to do-). I won't say the 1-star experiences on Yelp are bogus. People experienced what they experienced. But my experience with them was very positive. read more

I cannot even begin to describe how happy I am with the care, service, and results I received with The Pond Gnome. I made a HUGE mistake by originally hiring my outdoor kitchen contractor to build a pond only because he said he knew how. Well, even after sending him a dozen inspiration photos and having 2 separate consultations, he still got it wrong - VERY, VERY wrong. Even the "compromise" was WRONG. I lived with the monstrosity for 2 years when I finally reminded myself that life is too short to settle. In comes The Pond Gnome. From our very first consultation with Paul, I knew I was in good hands. He evaluated my old pond and we had a discussion about what I'd hope to see with the new water feature. I knew instantly we were on the same page. I was already confident with their results from their social media pages and website, so signing the contract was a no-brainer for me. Yes, it was pricey, BUT, for what I paid for the previous disaster, I considered this a BARGAIN!!! I needed to have the old pond demolished before work could begin, but once that was taken care of, I had no problems with scheduling. The office was extremely communicative and sent appointment reminders as well as important information about what I should expect - and even what they expected from me, which I actually appreciated a great deal! The team showed up to the project ON TIME every single day. They were extremely polite and professional. They kept the work site clean and organized during the entire process. I was intrigued by watching everything come together. This process is an ART FORM. Every boulder and stone was placed with mindfulness and precision. What I asked for was a "little spring, babbling brook, leading into a fish pond". I wanted it to feel natural and organic - like it had been there forever. The results of the pond ABSOLUTELY EXCEEDED my expectations - it was everything I asked for and more. After the pond was finished, we had a walkthrough so I understood how the equipment worked and the routine maintenance required to keep the pond healthy. It was very straightforward and easy to understand. I was given all the information I needed in writing, as well. I'll also receive informative monthly newsletters and invitations for seminars to answer questions and learn more about the pond life. Pond Gnome's (PG) good was crew of 5 hard workers completing job & moving 1K granite structure off its footers 4' with boulder 2-wheeler. Bad were multiple problems left & resisted/denied by PG owner, Paul. And ugly was the treatment of me. BTW, I had previously prepped my 6x6, 9-year-old cistern for replacement, pulling old, salt-stained, large river rock, & separating cobble into 5-gallon buckets onto perimeter. Although PG charged $5,535 for the repair,several important issues needed correction after install 1/3/23, proving impossible to get PG to correct. One exception was 2,half-filled 5-gallon small, river rock cobble unexpectedly delivered 7 weeks later. This and larger river rock were needed to hide a 2x2 black plastic cover over filler tube and pump, left completely exposed atop river rock cobble. Even ignoring cosmetic aspects of big ugly cover, imagine what our sun would do to exposed plastic. I paid PG up front due to a 3-week Xmas holiday delay and to pay it off in 2022. Since they offered 2-years on workmanship & 3-years on materials, we thought we'd be ok paying. When I immediately informed Paul of minor, but notable problems, he began email-debating why he wouldn't return regardless of 2-year warranty. Because of scheduling job for one "full" day, he complained he couldn't invest more time. Note, he was at the job site by 8:15 am, finished at 1:45 pm and gone by 2pm - less than 6 hours. Paul even complained about 5-10 minutes his men spent (I was with them, not Paul, while he spoke to my wife for this brief period.) moving a potted plant about 5 feet with their boulder 2-wheeler. He claimed they spent 20 minutes and had to pay them 30 minutes "overtime." Although an absurd time exaggeration, a few extra minutes were an excuse to resist returning. PG made a pre-site visit in November '22 to prep for repair. After Paul requested moving the cistern location due to a pool filter pvc pipe underneath the original spot. While moving the earth, Pond Gnome couldn't accomplish the 3-4' relocation without commingling dirt & previously clean 3/4" crushed stone. After the expected commingling, when asked for a 1/4 ton of clean crushed rock to resurface the spot, Paul refused. He claimed a "landscaping" job was not for his fountain company to fix. Well, I never considered, the problem PG created would become my problem. I thought he would immediately comply. The original filler valve was frozen shut and they were unable to repair it - they should have been prepared after their site review for it. As a fountain building company, I was really struck by the inability to minor plumbing. Paul wasn't licensed for plumbing and didn't even have a plumber on call. This plumbing cost me another $500. Then my dusk to dawn sensor flood light in fountain front stopped working after PG spliced their pump into the live wires entering the buried conduit. When I saw the wire nutted, connections left hanging up about a foot, I asked for silicone on protect them and I'd later bury. Evidently PG planned to leave wire nutted connections hanging in the air "as is" for javelina sampling and weather intrusion. I had actually installed the simple dusk-dawn sensor about a year ago myself. PG was unable to connect the wires through the conduit & into the surface box, again beyond the scope of their skills/license. It's astounding a fountain builder couldn't fix such a small electrical task. I eventually reinstalled the dusk-dawn sensor myself, rerouting the wires into the 6" buried conduit. Then I asked for the 2 large (2x2x1 200lbs.) granite footers, originally supporting the larger granite feature, that wouldn't be used for remounting (See pictures), to be buried about 6" to mask their large, Stonehenge-like elevated appearance. Again refusal was all I got from Paul. I have since bought large river rock to distribute around the footers to soften appearance & increase its size to 8x6', (Note: Before we knew about the hassle we would encounter with PG, we had asked them for another estimate to repair a front yard, smaller fountain.) Given all the above unexpected hassles from Paul, then he shocked me sending a high estimate for the smaller fountain. He had actually folded the corrections of the first project problems (the inadequate river rock and need for larger pieces, commingled messy crushed rock, broken flood light/sensor, unburied footers, extra river rock cobble, and cleanup) into the second contract. Clearly, he was trying to secure the second job before addressing the first contract repairs. I asked that the issues with the first job be corrected before moving on to the next contract. Paul had the audacity to tell me he wanted to leave the second contract as described, so that he didn't have to make an extra trip to fix the initial job. Think seriously about your fountain project before hiring this company. They won't be there when you need them. read more

He was super nice, helpful and courteous while listening to my problem with my pond. (I forget his name..sorry). Zach came out to change my filters and was super nice too. See review from 8/7/21 So after I was scammed by pond gnome, on the recommendation of a real pond expert, I added a UV sterilizer for about $200 bucks. Completely cleared up our pond water. The clarity was terrific. Why did I spend near $1500 with the gnome ? got scammed. Although the clarity of water was great, the flows were not. I suspected a blockage in the lines. I had our landscaper cut the pipe directly adjacent to the new valve the gnome installed and this is what we found. see photos .The landscaper charge was $150 plus $65 in parts and the pond is working as good as new. The landscaper also replaced the the drain line that was plugged with the bio balls installed by the gnome. $500 fixed the problems the gnome caused. My neighbors are envious!!!! I had an ugly, unused, unwanted in ground swimming pool. I wanted to keep a water feature in my yard. Paul and I had a lot of discussion and collaboration about how to fix my ugly pool and make it a beautiful koi pond with a stream. Customer service was great. Paul and Rob always addressed any changes and the teams attention to detail was exceptional. I am completely satisfied!!! The pond gnome performed a 're-model' on my already existing pond several years ago. During that time, there was damage caused to part of the plumbing that connected to the pond leveler. This was noted as water could be seen accumulating outside of the pond in the adjacent soil. This was pointed out and a 'repair' was made at the time. The owner himself was present when this was discussed. Years later, water is accumulating in the same area and the pond gnome was called to investigate. Again, it was noted that the plumbing had failed where it is attached to the leveler. Although I pointed out to the gentleman onsite that this was the same problem that was addressed previously, he adamantly denied that they would be responsible for such shoddy work. I reiterated that this 'work' was performed by 'the pond gnome' or some subcontractor that was called in to fix it. He called his boss, the owner, who came out to investigate the issue. According to Damien (the original onsite investigator), the owner, Paul had no recollection of this work and denies that it was performed by them. His reason was that the work done was by the original contractor. This is impossible because the original contractor would not have created a loop of PVC pipe into the concrete leveler (SEE PICTURES). It is obvious that there was so e damage and a 'work around' was implemented. The pond gnome was the only person to do pipe work on the pond's leveler after its initial construction. I received an invoice for a new construction of the leveler from them. No communication or discussion. It is disappointing that I did not receive at the least a phone call from the owner to discuss the work. It is disappointing that he can not own up for the work performed and uses plausible deniability as the excuse. If you decide to use 'the pond gnome' for any work, my recommendation is to take pictures of any work done and any damage that may have been caused by the work so that you have documentation. But, to be honest, I would avoid doing any business with them since there are other, honest, individuals in this unique business with which you can deal and have your expectations met. In response to the pond gnome's response: Please take a look at the photos. No primary construct would fit pipes like that. You can see that the incoming pipe from below is perfectly parallel to the hole in the leveler's concrete. They are going to curve it in a loop and connect it to the leveler? The company that installed the original pond did the entire yard. I understand your point of saying there were no complaints of a leak prior, but there was a leak immediately after the remodel was performed. This was addressed by Paul and I was verbally told that it was from damage to the leveler. I did not know at that time that I should demand some form of documentation. Either Paul has a poor memory or like I mentioned initially, he uses plausible deniability to avoid dipping into his profits. I've already consulted with 2 other 'pool' repair companies and their first question was 'who performed this reconstruction?' As far as being 'rude' to your foreman, I politely warned him that calling work 'shoddy' when it was your own company that performed or oversaw it is a very dangerous position to take. read more

Day after my 3/24 review Pond Gnome's -"dragon lady," who disparages any Yelper instantly, invented several lies. Judging from other Yelpers' reviews, apparently she's an expert at it, or I'll call it fake replies. But no mention of their dishonouring promised 2-year workmanship warranty to me 1 week after install - the entire reason for my negative review. Barbie says our requests "were outside the scope of the original contract" - another lie to weasel out of their obtuse denial to fix a few small issues, after a $5,500 job. It wasn't a "replacement gone wrong!" It was an almost 10yr old fountain needing refurbishment. We weren't "present during the entire process," but were actually gone for almost 3 hours, or half of PG's stay. The truth to this Barbie lie is we actually forewarned Paul, PG owner, of our absence. He said "no problem, I'm going to Verde Valley for a proposal also, so I'll be gone for about an hour." So neither he nor us were there, and he convinced me that his foreman could handle everything during our absence. In fact, he also told me his other long-term veteran was even more reliable, but couldn't become a foreman because of math and language issues. The "service portal" Barbie again lies about was "exposed," but PG was clueless about how to do the electrical. I later fixed it myself. I already described in my review the 2 half-filled 5 gallon buckets of small, cheap cobble PG benevolently sent 7 weeks later, because they had "plenty in stock". It took deliverer less than 5 minutes to dump it - Gee thanks for the "free delivery," Barbie.Never "begged" PG to do job - ridiculous! Also Barbie never responded to my points about second smaller fountain job, i.e., I didn't want PG to fold in the costs for necessary minor repairs for first larger fountain into the second. I merely wanted a separate contract for the smaller fountain. PG's constant excuse was it would cause another trip to correct the problems of the first. I'll repeat, make sure you have no plumbing or electrical work in any fountain work you hire PG to do, because they aren't licensed for either and don't have staff who are! It's truly ironic to hear such a liar say, "honestly this is not the type of project we take on." Whatever you do, don't have them "take on" your fountain project. My notices immediately were of minor issues needing attention from PG for my & $5,500. And that's not counting another $500 for minor plumbing PG was unable to do, because PG lacks license and don't even have an ad hoc staff plumber to do it. Imagine a fountain company that has no plumbers - astounding! So a total of $6K. None of this back & forth would have been necessary, if PG just honoured my "expectations" of their supposed warranties - 2yrs workmanship & 3 parts. PG couldn't fit in any extra trips to satisfy a good customer. Must be the high price of gas. PG spliced into the exterior wires of my electrical box, thereby killing my dawn-dusk floodlight, to run their newly installed pump. I can see PG dodging replacement of the pump under the 3 years warranty on parts by claiming the splicing voided the part's warranty. Then PG would say they wouldn't have cut them, if the electric supply box was open - the wires, conduit and box were completely exposed for them. If Yelpers read and see my pictures regarding my requests, they'll easily see how simple & inexpensive they were. My experience reveals the "in & out style" of PG. With PG, the customer is always 'last.' Be wary of Barbie's expertise at obfuscation and blaming the victim - the customer. read more

They went over and above what many other companies would do and sent me a refund of the consultation fee plus a 1 page hand typed letter from Paul about the confusion so I am updating my review to 5 stars. They did an awesome job. I needed a pond redo and they took very good care of my fish that had to be moved for the redo and even lovingly boxed up the wild toads that were living in my pond. They have an excellent eye for design. They were on time, worked well as a team and looked pretty happy with their job and coworkers. The job started on time and completed 1 day early. I'm so happy I had them redo my pond. I've been working a lot of OT and it's so nice to begin the day feeding my fish in a beautiful habitat and in the evening I sit outside again to watch the sparkling waterfall and fish. I started out thinking this was a good company to do my project , turned out not so much. I explained what I wanted, above grown koi pond. Gave them an example picture I had taken from the net and for the price of $125 they made me a drawing computer generated of what they thought would be best. I agreed to there plan. And gave them a $500 deposit, for a total of $625 I was having a large party sept. 16th and wanted the construction complete by the. The waited a week or so and sent me a letter saying they did not want to do the job. They also said that they would send me my deposit back of the full $625. I called them and said my party was coming up and needed it done, was it the design or the money that made them deside not to do the work. I had a text from them giveing me the price$19902.00 and a complete work schedule saying what they were going to do on what specific date and what date the job would be done. They said it was the money and the design both, but it was there design. They gave me a new price of $35,800. I said know just send me back my deposit,They would only give me part of the deposit back, $500 instead of the $625 and on top that now there not so nice, more like thugs then business men read more

I had an 18 year old pond I enjoyed for years but was interested in converting it to a stream. The Pond Gnome, the builder of my original koi pond, gave me a variety of options with varying estimates and helped me plan what I wanted. A team of professional builders spent 5 days demolishing the old pond and expanding the area to include a waterfall and pond that ends in a recirculating stream. Maintenance of the system is extremely low due to updated technology. The team was on time, efficient workers, very friendly, and careful that my dogs didn't escape. When finished, they cleaned the grounds and left it spotless. The finished project was even more beautiful than I had invisioned. My yard is now a natural oasis with sounds of falling and running water; it's almost like being at Oak Creek. read more

Was requested to send them a pictures of my pond and the pump as well as my contact information. Which I did right away and called them to verify they had received it. They did. Well it is now Tuesday of the following week and Todd from The Pond Gnome just called to see if I still needed service. I told him no that I had someone else come out and fix it. Guessing they really don't need the business based on their slow response to customer calls. read more

We are absolutely thrilled with how our water garden, stream and pond. We have dragon flies, and water flowers, tadpoles, and lots of birds and it has only been in a few weeks. We live in a fairly new community. Many of our neighbors installed look-a-like waterfalls in the backyard built by the landscapers. We thought they were repetitive and boring with cookie cutter construction techniques. We wanted something unique! We went to a Home Show and found the " Pond Gnome". Paul, the Pond Gnome came out to our house and was patient and knowledgeable in explaining alternatives and giving suggestions. We chose to establish a small stream arising from two low drops from the top. Paul and his crew came out and they were professional and skillful in creating exactly what we envisioned! We were thrilled by the end result. Our neighbors have all admired it and many are in the process of planning their "unique" water feature!
