Regular tofu bowl, white rice, all mix ins, avocado lime dressing, tempura, ginger, and a tiny taste of seaweed salad.
Christina W.

It was love at first bite!! Never had a poké bowl before now because I always saw raw fish options BUT NOW...I've finally got to experience a real good plant based bowl- IN DES MOINES. Hawaiian tradition style fish sushi bowl [like a burrito bowl] with mix ins and sauces. Asian ingredients so it's got that Asian flavor. It is hot rice on bottom cold toppings on top. I ordered: regular tofu bowl, white rice, all the mix ins (cucumber, onion, edamame, jalapeño, cilantro, hijiki seaweed), with avocado lime dressing, wasabi peas, tempura flakes, pickled ginger, pineapple, and seaweed salad. Wow I was impressed! And that pineapple....never would have thought it would have been good but it is a MUST. Cost was $7.33 with gratuity. I like their website and the ability to order online. Also! They have a food allergy list that is simple to read. Very helpful. One of my little girls liked it: kid friendly if they have the palate for it. Service was quick for a Saturday night 7:00pm. No line! Totally surprising but it's a dish that many don't know about or apprehensive to try. (Because I was one of those people!) They serve natural flavored soda and bubble tea. Tip: bubble tea is NOT vegan, made of cow milk. I can't wait to get back here and I'm bringing all my sushi loving friends!

Regular ahai tuna bowl and thai tea

After my initial visit with a Yelp party I was finally able to get my mom and friend down to try. It's been too long! The menu on the wall doesn't have the "premade" options anymore but the staff know the favorites and are happy to help you along. Gluten free or Vegan.. they got you covered. Walk on in and start at the food line. Pick your rice and your bowl size. Mom got a small bowl. Grandma got a wrap (which was like one giant sushi wrap), my friend got a regular bowl and I also got a regular bowl. There is a ton of good options. After rice you pick your protien. I got the aha tuna. From there a nice selection of items to add to your poke bowl. I got more than I could eat in one sitting and was very pleased. I also had to have the Thai tea... it was like a dessert. I am still pleased as punch with this place. The food is so refreshing because it's so fresh. The fish tasted fantastic. Everyone was super happy with their food and thanked me for getting them down there. I wish I was closer to this place I would be here more often.

Poke bowl - brown rice, ahi tuna, cucumbers, edamame, seaweed salad, crab salad, sesame dressing.

My husband and I recently returned from Hawaii and were missing the poke bowls we love so thought we would give the Poke Company a try. We were there in a Saturday night and there were a few people sitting at tables but it wasn't real busy. We went right to the counter to order - the woman helping us was not real personable or helpful. We have been to poke restaurants before and their boards or menus have clear directions for ordering - base, number of protein, number of add ins, number of toppings and extras and dressings to choose.... Not clearly stated here. Because we are familiar with ordering poke bowls, we had an idea, but all places vary some. We ordered two regular poke bowls - one with greens and one with brown rice. On the greens we added ahi tuna, cucumbers and pickled onions, crab salad, spicy Mayo and ginger. On the brown rice we added ahi tuna, cucumbers, edamame, crab salad, seaweed salad, sesame dressing. We were asked about drinks - many of the options were unavailable (had an X over them), so we ordered a berry kombucha and a Sapporo. And were offered two cups for water (they have infused water available). She asked to see our IDs (both being nearly 60 we were grinning - haven't been asked that in many years!) We paid and were picking up our food when she realized they were out of Sapporo - so we changed to a mini sake, and she forgot the kombucha. We had to make a second payment to cover that. We asked about chopsticks and she pointed toward where we had walked in - they were on a counter where the water, napkins and trash receptacle were. After getting everything together we went to sit - the tables were dirty, we cleaned two spots off with a napkin and sat. The food was good and the price was decent for poke. We will give the place another chance but might order delivery. Friends who recommended this place have used delivery and that would be one way around poor service, dirty tables and the overfilled trash which we noticed.

I was so excited for this place to open! Modern open space with a lot of lighting. Friendly staff asking if anyone had any questions. They made great recommendations as well. I ordered the regular build your own bowl with brown and white rice, ahi tuna, avocado, onions, ponzu sauce, and spicy mayo. I also ordered a melon boba tea. My daughter ordered taro boba tea. It was all delicious! They have many ingredients to choose from and various boba tea flavors. Really enjoyed everything. The only suggestion I have is that staff wear aprons because there were a few employees with visible food stains on their shirts. Definitely will be back!

Salmon Regular Poke Bowl

Always a great place for a quick healthy meal! I got a Salmon Poké Bowl with all the yummy toppings and mix-ins: spicy mayo, avocado-lime sauce, sesame seeds, wasabi peas, ginger, seaweed salad, scallions, hijiki seaweed, cucumbers, edamame, and eel sauce. The mix-ins was fresh, crisp, had a kick to it, and savory. All the freshness you would want with a great price! Highly recommend! I also got the honeydew and Thai tea boba teas. The teas were smooth, and had just the amount of sweetness. Although the boba are much smaller than regular boba it was still tasty and textural pleasant.

I love The Poké Company! I was really excited to try this place. I've only been to one other poké place in town, so I was curious about how the poké here would taste. It was delicious! It's different than I thought it would be, but it's really tasty and fun to watch your bowl getting prepared. It's kind of like the poké version of Blaze Pizza. You tell them what size bowl and what kind of rice you want. Then you get to choose a sauce to mix with your greens and what protein (salmon, tuna, shrimp and tofu) you want and more mix-ins/toppings. I love how you get to choose what's in your bowl. They have preset bowls on their menu that you can choose or you can make your own bowl. My husband and I created our own bowls. I had the salmon and he had the spicy tuna. It was very good. I don't think you could go wrong with anything you picked here. Everything tasted so fresh and healthy. I didn't feel gross and stuffed after I finished eating like I do with fast food. Also, unlike other restaurants, they have soft drinks by Stubborn Soda. It has no artificial sweeteners and no high fructose corn syrup. The flavors are unique and taste great. They also stock bottled water, teas and Japanese sodas. And I couldn't believe they have boba tea! I don't know of any other place downtown that has it. I've been waiting for this for a long time. My only complaint (because I'm ultra picky about this) is that the bowl could use a little more sauce. I'm the kind of person who likes her food drenched with sauce. If you look in my profile, you'll see "it's all about the sauce". But that's just me being nitpicky. Everything tasted great otherwise. This restaurant is part of a franchise, but it's only the second location and they chose to have it in Des Moines. How great is that? I'll definitely be back. I have to try all the different sauces, right?

It's basically sushi in a bowl! Love this place because you can grab a bowl then a pizza or tacos downstairs. Location is perfect!

It was my first time at The Poké Company and it won't be my last! It was incredible! The vegetables were fresh and cool and crunchy and the chicken was pieces of tender chicken thighs which were warm and had been cooked in some type of teriyaki sauce, mixed with the warm rice and sweet, spicy and a little salty sauces it was perfect! By the way the regular size bowl was more than plenty I can't imagine the size of the large! Can't wait to go back!

Regular Pok Bowl

They had all kinds of protein choices, including vegan (tofu), everything was very fresh. I got a regular sized bowl with the spicy salmon, pretty big portion and definitely worth the money!

I've had two great experiences here! Love that they have an option for anyone including gluten free and vegan! Also, that they charge less for tofu if you are planning on getting a vegan bowl! How rad. I'm mostly plant based but will partake in fish everyonce in awhile and it's important to me that it's wild caught and sourced in an ethically based way. I try my best to not support farmed fish and if you feel the same way the pokè company is the place for you. There fish is wild caught and flown in fresh on the daily. I love that they have no coloring in the fish and they slice it in house. As for there sauces they are all made in house too. Nothing is prepacked which is pretty darn cool. There recipes aren't traditional pokè so if that's what your looking for make sure to have an open mind or just build your own. I have enjoyed everything I've made or had so far. There soda is the bomb! I'm not a soda fan and I tried there orange hibiscus and I am now a HUGE fan of the soda they carry. It doesn't have and high fructose in it and all natural sugars! Woot! This place is all about consistency. I run a bike club and they are on our route and you better believe we will be stopping at the pokè company this year. I can't wait to try there vegan howl next!

Salmon poke bowl and taro boba. We dived right in!

First time Poke bowl, I expected the rice to be treated like sushi rice, but it was standard loose rice. Good food, good service, but a bit high on the price side. Bonus was the boba tea, small tapioca/boba pearls, so was a unique experience!

I have always loved a good poke bowl, and finally got the chance to try out the Poke Company for lunch (delivered through GrubHub). We ordered two normal poke bowls and two boba teas. I was impressed with the speed of our order, and the price was good. I've paid several dollars more at a local grocery store for much worse poke bowls. I'm only really going to review the quality of the ingredients, as the bowls are SO customizable that if it lacks flavor or you don't like it, it's honestly probably user error. Ahi Tuna Poke Bowl - VERY good quality fish, and I didn't feel like they skimped on it at not. No fishy flavor/smell, which is exactly what you want for raw. I would 100% order this again! Salmon Poke Bowl - Again, very good quality, almost silky salmon was used. My husband was a huge fan of his bowl and immediately remarked that he wants to order this for lunch again soon, and maybe on a regular basis. Boba Tea - This is where we lose a star. I'm bummed that they only currently offer three flavors (at least in the app). Tarro, coconut, and honeydew. I found the coconut boba to be really lacking flavor, while I did enjoy the honeydew. My husband, however, found the honeydew he ordered to be too much for him (lucky me!). I would love to see some more flavors added to the menu, and the flavor bumped up on the ones they do currently have. Overall, we had a good first experience and plan on ordering from them again soon! They have a lot of interesting craft soda options I'm dying to try next time!

The second Poke Company in the entire world is right here in our own back yard! And I'm very excited to say that POKE is no JOKE.. The sleek and modern design fits the sleek and modern type dinning experience! Think fast casual meal that actually makes you feel good about what you ate instead of feeling bad about yourself! Located on the 2nd floor, right off the elevator/stairs.. Poke' and its beautiful big windows great you with a view of sunshine and good vibes! They have curated bowls on the menu but the staff mentioned to start maybe I should try to build my own.. Which I was glad to do from the excellent choices of toppings and sauces! I'm vegan so I was stoked that they had Tofu protein option! I choose brown rice as a base but they also have kale, or cauliflower rice if you want to be really healthy! I had the staff load it up with veggies and then had .. The Company Sauce and Avocado and lime sauce for my sauces and oh my goodness it was a fantastic combo of flavors and happiness in my belly! The staff was very welcoming and did a great job of explaining the concept and options! They have lots of seafood options if that's your game! But veggies and vegans and folks with Gluten Free diets are going to love this place. I think they are in the perfect spot.. Right by Anytime Fitness, right off bike trail, great healthy option before a night on the town, or after a Farmers Market morning, or pre-baseball game at Principal Park! I will be Poke-ing back in soon! I might be here so much, they might start referring to me as the Poke'-man!

Is the cauliflower rice option cooked? In other words, is it hard or soft?

It is cooked - soft like the rice would be. I love it!
