He was kind, welcoming, and genuinely happy to hear I had just broken 100 for the first time. His pride in the course came through in every word, and his hospitality made the day feel special. My 2nd time playing this course on Wed 9/2/21. I played this same course last year at the same time. The weather forecast was sketchy from the beginning with threat of rain. The Pro's in the Club House told me, it may come a shower but this time of year the blow over quickly. I was wet the first 3 holes and was getting discouraged and then it cleared up. Of course I was checking the weather on my phone at every hole and it was still sketchy, I played on even though the wind was blowing at about a steady 20 MPH. There was a Father and Son in front go me and no one behind me. The Father was maybe in his 80's so it was slow going. The started told me they were only playing 9 so that was good news for my pace of play and the weather concerns. You can read my review from last year and I stand by that review as solid 4 star experience. They have made some nice changes and enhancements since last year, primarily with tee box placement on a few holes. About the 9th tee, the sky got dark and the wind gusting 30-40 MPH. I decided it was time to stay dry and play another day. At the Club House, they were very cordial about a rain check for the remaining 9 holes and said it NEVER expires. On their web site they advertise a $10 discount if you play both of their courses within 7 days. The sister course is about 10 minutes North and suites my play much better. read more

Played here while on vacation a couple weeks ago. The golf course was in good shape after some heavy rains the day before. For how much standing water there was the greens were in good shape. Paid $195 for 2 golfers and felt like for being near the beach we probably couldn't find a better value. The lay out was good, some tight holes with plenty of water. Had the best time golfing today despite the starter's (Mike W.) attempt to bring the vibes down. We were 4 minutes late to the start time (our bad) so began at the second hole. Mike made sure to remind us multiple times about pace of play even though there were no other groups in sight. Made for some stress & absolutely poor performance. Don't come here unless you're ready to hit the races or shoot under par If anyone's looking for a good laugh, he also talked poorly about us to our friends who happened to be playing right behind us. Beautiful well groomed tees fairways, and smooth true mildly slower greens. Fairly open forgiving course. Great grass driving range, and putting green, putts like the on-course greens. At age 71, I played the 5900 yard blue tees (back gold tees are 6200 yards), 9 hcp. Pace of play is average, lots of players, popular course. Great friendly professional staff from pro shop, starters, to electric cart associates, who bring the carts to your vehicle, plus later a very helpful staff member (Evan Foster, now on NC State golf team). Will definitely return when next we visit OBX. read more

I am writing this review mainly because of the incompetence of the cart boys and the willingness of the higher staff to believe them. We recently visited Corolla OBX this week and decided to travel to the Pointe to golf. The round that day went well, the only mishap was the cart they supplied me with. When receiving it from their cart boy, I noticed it did not steer straight and pulled left. I made this aware to him and the clubhouse cashier inside. They both told me everything was fine that it was just tight. I continued to play my round as as I played the carts steering worsened. At the end of my round I notified the young cart boy that my cart was not working at all, just like I told them in the beginning. He said that's fine and continued to drive the cart away. 2 whole days later they email my friend saying we damaged their cart. The same cart I notified their staff was faulty from the beginning. They are now threatening a bill for damages and that we must pay. This is ridiculous, we notified them of the faulty cart since the beginning. Either this is a horrendous display of communication between staff or this is how they run business. Either way I promise my family nor I will ever golf there again and they will be hearing from my attorney if they try to charge us illegally. Played the course with a buddy today. I'm not a big golfer but he is and we both agreed that it was the best maintained course either of us had every been on (and he has played PGA stadium). Overall beautiful course, easily worth the price. read more

First time playing this golf course on Saturday and I must say, it's pretty impressive. From start to finish, I really enjoyed my experience at The Pointe. Driving range - Wide open spaces, good grass, and an adjacent chipping green. Wind is a factor in this part of NC so don't be discouraged when the ball goes all over the place. Golf course - This is a fun golf course for all skill levels. It's not a very lengthy course so for golfers who don't hit the ball very far it still gives you the chance to keep your score low. For really good golfers, get your wedge game on point. Under par rounds and lots of birdies are very possible. Greens weren't terribly fast but were rolling nice and smooth. Clubhouse facility - The restaurant staff was friendly. $5 minimum on credit card purchases. I had a chicken salad sandwich that tasted pretty good. I didn't play well at all so I look forward to going back for some redemption. This course is worth playing for golfers of all skills. read more

3.5 stars... The Pointe Golf Club in the Outer Banks is a nice and beautifully maintained public course. Prices greatly depend on when you come and can vary between $35-100 for 18 with a cart depending on the time of year and time of day. In general expect to pay $50-70. The club house is very well stocked and there are a good number of water stations throughout the course. As I mentioned the grass is in great shape. I'm not sure what type of grass they have here but it's different than anything I've played on before, hitting from the rough is really no issue at all here. The course is relatively flat and open but do have enough curves and trees to keep the came interesting. One thing that took a couple (or possibly 12) holes to get used to were the greens. They're extremely quick, you mind as well be putting on a vinyl floor. There were a few things I didn't care for here though. The score cards didn't have a layout of the course and I could be wrong but not every hole had a marker with the hole's information by the tee box. Lastly for the price here I really expected a beer/snack girl to be driving around, no such luck here. What they did have was a guy in the parking lot who unloads your golf clubs, gave each a wipe, and took your cart away. Of course you have to tip the guy for this kind of service but it seemed to be a bit unnecessary service, especially considering they didn't have someone driving around with refreshments on the course. I don't particularly care for that seemingly mandatory service and expected tip, I'd like to opt out of both without seeming rude but that's just the frugal guy in me. Overall I had a good time here but there is definitely room for improvement. read more

Played the Pointe with my brother & son while down here on vacation. We had an EXCELLENT experience!!! Course was in great shape despite absolutely no rain for weeks. All the personnel were friendly. The practice facilities were top notch. Practice balls were brand new. Putting & chipping greens were consistent with course conditions. The rate of play was faster than we expected. We played the day before in Kitty Hawk and it was considerably slower. We will definitely be back. read more

On my first golf trip to the point. The course was in good shape, but the greens had way to many marks on them. The course allowed a 5 some to go out in front of us which backed things up bad. Then paired 2 single digit handicappers with a father and son who couldn't even hit a golf ball. Had a miserable day of slow play watching a 10 year old dribble a ball around while taking 10 practice swings per shot. Will never go to the point again read more

The course was in good condition despite 5.5 inches of rain. Some fairways held water better than others, but all the greens were A1. The design of holes got a little redundant, especially when you reach the middle of the back nine. But nonetheless it is very open, and suitable for all playing levels. read more

Yesterday I took a 30-minute golf lesson with the PGA Pro Cory - he was spot on. He identified some quick fixes to my swing and gave me a few easy drills to practice to help me stay on course (so to speak). I can't recommend him highly enough - the perfect quick fix if you find your golf game going south while on vacation, as I did. read more

We always leave this club happy, and that counts for a lot. It's not the prettiest or most interesting course in the outer banks. But, the course is well maintained and well run. it's reasonably priced. The driving range is good. The greens and turf are in reasonably good shape. They have a competent starter and keep the golf moving. What could be better? It would be nice to have a layout of each hole on a card in the cart. read more

Great facility/friendly staff This is one of my favorite clubs at OBX. We stay across the bridge so it can be a bit of a pain to get back that way for golf. The course is always in great shape, you can get twilight rates at 11:30am and the practice range is top notch. I skipped playing the Pointe this trip and instead played Duck Woods Country Club. It's $90 after 11am and range balls are free and unlimited vs. $6 for a small. The starter will let you go out early if the tee is open. The Pointe is great but DWCC is a better deal by $1 for me and closer to where we were staying. read more

Went golfing today when we finished we left nothing was said till we got home I got a phone call reporting that we damaged the cart and that we might have to pay for it. Where the damage was done and what they are accusing us of doing don't line up. Besides that the course was nice read more

Super greens - some of the best I've ever played, great course, good conditions, friendly staff and good food. You can't go wrong here, just an all around great place play golf and enjoy a good meal afterwards. I give it 5 stars due to the great conditions and value, even in early March. Great vacation golf for us non professionals. Wide fairways, long and short holes, along with challenging holes for those who play more than 4 times a year. The staff was incredibly friendly. Great food at the grill too. The only thing I'll recommend is to bring BUG SPRAY - ton of mosquitos on the course. read more

This golf course was very playable with forgiving fairways which were in good condition. I played this course with my boys, 13 and 16 years old and it was delightful. The greens were exceptional and tricky fast. I couldn't expect more from a resort course for the price which was extremely fair. Stay away from Golf Now pricing as it can only cost you if your plans change. I will never use it again. The staff was incredible and I rate the entire experience 4.5. We were having a great game. I was a 2some and we had a 4some in front of us. The pace was perfect. The 4some was tee to green in front of us. We hit the turn and the starter "JIM" put a beginner 2some in front of us when we went in to hit the can. We complained as to why you would put beginners in front of us? It totally backed us and the those behind us completely up. It was a totally bone head move. When we complained, JIM said that was unfortunate. Unfortunate my ass... We paid $70 a head ($280) to play and expect to have decent pace that is not f'd up by the starter "JIM". JIM's attitude for his bone head move was not customer friendly. His excuse was they only wanted to play nine. If The Point is more concerned with their friends and don't care about those who have vacation homes and come to play golf in OBX often. We can play Kilmarlic and Nags Head. The attitude of we did not matter and that our enjoyment of the afternoon of golf was not important was unacceptable. We are customers and the starters attitude will insure we will never play "The Point" or "Carolina Club" again. Yes we played the Carolina Club on Thursday. The $250+ we spent in the bar and pro shop is more then the 2some you slipped in front of us on the back nine. We will spend our money somewhere else. It is unfortunate we will not be spending our money with you. read more
