Yes, there is a graveyard in the middle of the course, and yes, the restroom is just outside of the 'clubhouse/check-in desk'. But, I am returning for another round of 18 holes. I was eager to try out a few courses during our vacation in the OBX. Since we had the space in our rental minivan, I had the opportunity to pack up my clubs. The location is just across the bridge from the OBX entrance, about 15 miles north of Kitty Hawk. They have an online reservation system but on a Monday morning, I had the flexibility to walk-on the course. For a mere $49, my fee included 18 holes and a cart. I'd say the course is on 'par' with some of the FFX Cty courses. There were a few others golfing early in the morning. With the ease of a cart and the semi-privacy of my lone golfing, I cracked the course in just over 2 hours. read more

In all my years of golfing I have yet to have to wait for a golf cart, today was that day. Groups in front of us were waiting an hour+ just to be able to ride. The facilities need to be upgraded or the prices need to go down, if you come out here I hope you're walking. The staff was nice and it's not their fault, facility management needs to be improved. read more

Had a great time here, Sept. 2025. The range was well laid out and the staff very friendly. The course is fun but challenging with hole placement and green size. Greens ran true and overall will definitely play again next time in OBX. read more

A nice 18 hole course just off hwy 158, 3 miles before the Wright Bro's Bridge. It's a public course. It's a nice place to get a round of golf in. It's not fancy but they have a few water holes and a few par 5s and long par 3s. They have a pro shop, pull cart & carts available. They have rentals clubs and they sell beverages. read more

Good place for golfers to bring those who are new to golf. However they have only one or two people running things and when something comes up they close down the pro shop - which they did after my round and there were 4 or 5 people waiting to play. read more

I wouldn't even give this golf course a review but wanted to warn other golfers about the club attendant. She is rude and unprofessional. Making very unnecessary comments about the charges. The prices to play or ride are ridiculous for the dog track of a course. No water present anywhere on the grounds except for the club house. Don't recommend, not worth wasting your time read more

I was vacationing in OBX with my family, and it was one of my goals to play a round of golf with my Dad. We're from Philadelphia and normally golfed at Juniata Golf course mostly. My dad is an avid golfer (played just under PGA level, cross country) and is a 2 handicap. I'm much more of a beginner and am a 15 handicap (lol). We arrived and had a very smooth check-in process and the lady working the pro shop was very courteous and friendly. The only complaint I had was that when I called for pricing I was given a price of $39/ a person, which is VERY competitive vs the surrounding courses, but when we arrived she informed me that those were the "local" prices, and it ran us another $20. Not the biggest deal, and we didn't make a fuss about it, but a pain the communication on the phone wasn't the best. The course was beautiful, although a more seasoned golfer would probably say it was average looking. We had an 8:30AM tee-time and the course was very wet with morning dew. Greens on the front nine in the early AM were VERY slow, as were the middle of the fairways. No puddles, but definitely made you put more "oomph" into your swings and putts, and the ball wouldn't roll very much after the initial landing. The back nine was more dry, especially towards the final holes, so putts would travel farther and have a lot more break on them. The course was mostly straight with a few dog leg rights (I think one on each side of the course), and had some very short PAR 4's and some longer PAR 3's. We had a single player in front of us, and a group of three older players behind us, and the pace of play was beautiful. We never got bunched up, never had to play through anyone nor did anyone play though us, and we never felt rushed at any point. Everyone on the course was awesome and kind, which is always refreshing. We got through the course in just a few minutes shy of three hours, and we made sure to grab a couple drinks from the pro shop as other reviews have indicated there aren't refreshments at any of the holes I could spot. Not a complaint as we just grabbed 2 each and we had no issues. The pro shop is small but serves all the needs you'll have pre- and post- play, and the driving range was kept very neat and player spots had plenty of space in between. I'm not a picky person, and I consider myself pretty easygoing, but our experience was really, really good. We already plan to come back next year and visit again now that we will know the course a bit more. Thank you Holly Ridge for the amazing time! Just played 9 holes. Love the low-key vibe. Great place to go if you're warming up for the season or just want to kick back. (Tired of slow players in front of you and fast players behind you?) Grass practice range and putting green. Cold drinks in the pro shop. There is ice cold water in coolers intermittently at tees - take a drink with you! Nice quite electric carts. Friendly staff. I was looking for someplace reasonable to play/practice while staying in the Outer Banks. Holly Ridge was exactly what I was looking for. The front nine is short but challenging Some water, some narrow fairways, and smaller greens make it interesting. The back nine is also an interesting setup. Longer holes and more water coming in to play. The front nine you can pretty much walk on and what you see is what you get, the back nine you need to play once to see where the trouble spots are located. It also has a practice green (haven't used it so I can't comment) and an all grass driving range. Carts are newer with USB's for your devices. The owners are updating and expanding cart paths. The pro shop is minimalist but serves its purpose. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. A caveat is that most of my playing has been in the off season when it hasn't been real busy. I can't speak to peak months. read more

Greens are pretty slow and straight. Fun course to play on and definitely a good place to go. If you can can hit it straight you'll be just fine! A lot of water but not really in the way. Got my first career eagle; you can drive about 3 par 4 greens. read more

We have been golfing at Holly Ridge for approximately 8 to 10 years. Everyone who has been golfing for that span of time would agree that it went through a rough patch several years ago. I am pleased to report that Holly Ridge is back! The greens were in great shape and the fairways were pretty well covered. The staff was welcoming and we had a great time. This course is basically a tourist trap. It is definitely not worth the $50 dollars. The greens were extremely small and not maintained. I felt like I was putting through the rough. There are a bunch of powerlines all over the course which got in the way at times and were very annoying. There is also no beverage cart and I didn't see any places to fill up water bottles. The yardage on the score cards and signs at every hole were wrong. Not to mention that the tee box colors on the score cards and signs did not match the actual color of the tee box. The women's tees also only had one marker, instead of the standard two that the other tee boxes had. All in all I would have expected a much, much better maintained course for $50 dollars. I will not be coming back here. Two stars because the man in the "clubhouse" was friendly and nice, even though I feel like I was scammed/ripped off. read more

Played a round with our son and granddaughter on a golfnow.com special allowing a start 30minutes before the twilight crowd arrived. Not Augusta by any means but a friendly family run operation just over the Wright Brothers Memorial Bridge from OBX. Would play there again just because they were so nice. You can pay more out here, but may not be treated as nice as at Holly Ridge. Thank you. read more

This golf course is way out of shape. The tee boxes are all ripped up and damaged with grass higher than rough. The greens look like fairways, the fairways look like high rough and the rough looks like fescue. The only positive thing about this place is the snacks and drinks you can purchase before going out. With a ripped up, not mowed and uncared for course this golf course is not worth the time and money. read more

Nice people although the course it's self needs major repair, has a lot of crab grass, no fairway, and the greens are in horrible condition. On the bright side it is inexpensive compared to the rest of the golf courses in the OBX area. read more

Nice people who genuinely want to service you. The course has a great layout, but needs help badly. Mostly crab grass, traps full of weeds, no real fairway and greens are not what i would expect for 50 bucks. All in all a fun course though. If you are on a budget or can't afford to get in to one of the finer places this will do for your fix. read more

This was worst course I have ever seen. Don't waste your money. No fairways, haven't cut the grass in days.

Course was barely maintained. Couldn't tell difference from fairway to rough or first cut to putting green. The lawn mowers seemed to be just driving around aimlessly and not actually cutting grass. Yardage signs did not align with yardage on score cards. There were barely any signs to assist with the layout of the course. The turn doesn't even go by the clubhouse for a drink since there is only one water station we saw in 90 degree heat. Definitely not worth the $59. I would play it again for maybe $20. read more
