This will be a hard one to write…read more I am one that tries to keep the reviews positive but yet honest and real. This course used to be my home course. I always loved the layout and the condition of the course but did get frustrated at times when you could totally ride 90 degrees when they made it CPO. I let it ride because of the consistency the course played condition-wise and simply chose to pick another place when it rained. My last time playing there was in November of 2024, until today, which is 6-25-2026. The reason for that being the last time I played there wasn't because of me moving to a different side of town, it was due to the price increase to play this course that was just a few bucks shy of playing much nicer, demanding courses or, way too high over other courses that offered more but you paid less, such as many in Suffolk, Chesapeake, Portsmouth, etc. At the end of the day, I stopped playing here due to the price, and how tight the ship was run with play during weather conditions to which I understood if you wanted to continue with the course conditions being steller. My buddies wanted to get out last minute, and with limited availability on other courses, I decided to give a call here, to which they had openings at the time I needed. I can see why now. We started off on the back nine due to "maintenance on the front," to which we were pretty wide open most of the day. Seeing the first green on hole 10, I was shocked at the condition. We both thought it was a fluke and felt it would get better, but it didn't. Every green was lost, and despite you still being able to roll the ball okay, it was the biggest eye sore and mind trip on how they would roll all day long. Not only the greens, but it translated into the fairways and tee boxes. Then the sand traps? Although some were decent to get out, others were impossible. We had to pull back and chip over the greens. I've never seen this course in this condition, and yet the charge to play was still a pill to bite. I don't know what happened since my last time in 2024, but unfortunately for me, it will remain off the radar unless it is addressed in many ways. Again, I am not one for negative reviews, but that was a round of pure eye distraction and struggle to stay in the 80's mentally. The saving grace to me was the clubhouse special and the server. I went in to have a peek at what they had (as I review my scorecard details before hitting the road) and remembered some sort of special for having a scorecard. Come to find out, they still did, and that discount was: if you still had your scorecard on you, a draft beer or beverage was the cost of your score. So, if you shot an 85, your beer would be 85 cents with the purchase of something such as a hotdog! That was amazing! A Glizzy and draft IPA for under 4 dollars was absolutely awesome. That helped to bring this up to a 3 vs something lower. I always stated clubhouses here in VB need to make the Clubhouse a place where you want to hang, enjoy, and have great things going on to help ease the pain of the rounds. So, thank you Clubhouse for that special and saving this review.

I've been playing here for over 30 years and since the sale from the Troyer's to whoever owns it now, it's clear they don't know what they're doing. Staff does their best with owners that won't put money in the course. I can't count how many rounds I've watched grounds crew blow leaves that don't exist, rake bunkers that have crabgrass and reeds. Someone hit the reset button. Green-side irrigation was inoperable for a long time so they couldn't aerate, hence the greens died. Members got screwed, visitors get screwed, anyone that plays this is wasting money. Who knew nearby municipal courses could do a better job. Reduced green fees still aren't worth it, the only option seems to be shutting it down or letting members play free instead of using the range. Close it to the public as it just hurts word of mouth. I'm sure the independent restaurant is getting screwed too as customers simply don't go as the word gets out. Additionally, the same owners ruined the sister course in Chesapeake, Chesapeake Golf Club. They've got temp greens too probably because of the same lackluster ownership.

Not too crazy, not too fancy, just reliable and enjoyable. Customer service is always good. The staff and marshals are friendly and they're chill about bigger groups, which is a plus. If you're booking an early tee time, just know the groups are packed pretty close together, so pace might be a bit tight. Fairways aren't in perfect shape, but as long as you're not out there chunking every shot, you'll be fine. If the price was a little lower, I'd probably play here more often. Still, for what it is, I'd definitely recommend giving it a try.

Even from the tips I think this course is only about 6,000 yards. Don't expect anything special. You can't beat playing 18 holes with a cart for only $25. It's far from being the nicest place in terms of layout and course condition but you get a course that has a decent layout where you're forced to strategically place your tee shots. They do have a big (and nice) putting green, a small chipping green area with a bunker and a practice range that's limited to shots 175 yards and less. A great place to stop by to shoot the ish after work and practice or tee it up on weekends with your buds who hardly play golf.

Kempsville Greens is a municipal golf course of Virginia Beach. Upon arrival at the pro shop to check in, I was greeted by the pro and was handed my golf cart key. The staff here are very friendly and professional and the pro shop had lots of merch to choose from. The cafeteria was next door and seating is available if desired. Outside the pro shop are the practice greens and chipping green. Both in good condition. The golf carts come equipped with a GPS system which helps keep the speed of play at a nice pace. The course itself isn't very long but the tree lined fairways make some opening drives challenging. There are a few par 3 " cart path only" holes. The 10th hole in particular can see a bit of a bottleneck with several groups that are ahead of yours waiting to tee off. But there is plenty of shade and the pace seems to correct itself shortly after completing with the 10th. I had a fantastic time at Kempsville Greens and will most certainly be returning .

But this top golf experience was a little bit different, yeah of course not perfect especially because the tables were sticky and quite dirty so that was unpleasant, and our bayhost was alright but it felt a little like she was annoyed of us so it kind of ruined the mood, but the server who brought us our food honestly made the whole experience reach the 4 stars! He was a really nice, funny, pleasant, well mannered young gentleman. He brought us the food and actually took some time explaining everything and made genuine conversations, making jokes and being extremely friendly, not only with me but my whole family, he was also extremely fast and understanding and got us everything we needed even though I'm sure he was busy and had things to do! I usually don't write reviews regarding servers but this young man named Jamari really stood out, it truly feels really nice when someone who's a server takes out time from they're day to be genuine and have a conversation, and it really sets the mood for the rest of the experience you have. I wanted to sit outside on their patio to reflect, watching the players coming in, and enjoying a cold IPA. This day was a bit chilly and couldn't stay out there long however, the time I did have was lovely reminding me of how cool of a club house it is on top of a wonderful golf course I really enjoyed playing. Pound for Pound (without being able to play on private courses), this one is probably my favorite to play in the area. I do feel the clubhouse is a bit outdated but it does capture the essence of a true "golfclub" vibe you would expect from a traditional club. You clearly see the local members enjoying their time for lunch or turning the nine. I have tried a few items as far as food and wouldn't say it's amazing. it does the trick for fuel but nothing over the top. Haven't tried dinner so I can't speak on that but they do have a full bar. Of course it is on the pricy side as usual for clubhouses but it wasn't terrible. The pro shop did have a goof feel to it and layout with lots of items you could purchase. Overall, I love the golf course and facility that is kept in good shape however I do feel the clubhouse and vibe, although traditional in nature, could use a little "sprucing up" as it does feel dated but... a lot of times, that is what traditional golfers want to remember and not change up. If you like that vibe with the wood lockers, dark green, traditional vibe, this place is perfect. As far as the golf course, condition, and layout, this is a must try course if you haven't. Prices are much more reasonable after a certain time but witih all courses and prices, you are going to pay no matter where you go unfortunatley. Very enjoyable place you would probably keep on your radar for play if you can afford it.

I already go to physical therapy, but this is a great addition for my body's wellbeing. I initially had a hard time getting someone to call me back, but boy was the little wait worth it. They have a special for new customers, $49 for 50 minutes. Sure, it's a little pricey but you get what you pay for. The therapist that worked on me was friendly and very informative. She started me with an overhead squat and this analyzed my MAPS (an acronym I can't for the life of me remember what every letter stands for). It was an informative screening of my posture, ambulation and strength. From there, we went to a stretching table. It was a good stretch and thankfully not too painful! I enjoyed it so much I did sign up for a membership, which is $299 for 4 sessions each month. I'm really looking forward to seeing some results going here.
