There aren't too many things a movie house has to offer in order to please me. (Of course, besides…read morethe featured film being enjoyable at the very least, but that is something they cannot always help.) Honestly, I don't need mind-blowing technology like an overwhelmingly oversized screen, and smokes and mirrors; all I need are fine comforts combined with well-maintained facility. Of course, first would be great snacks. Apart from the standard popcorn, Power Plant has Buy The Bucket and Potato Corner. I usually get the tofu chips with sour cream and cheese sauces from the former, or barbecue fries from the latter. Either of the two goes well with a tall glass of rootbeer. Then, the aircon gives off that cardigan temperature and the floors are clean. The seats are comfy too, meaning, the cushions still have that nice luxurious bounce and the hinges don't squeak when I shift my body every time something riveting happens onscreen. Also, there's enough space: the head of the guy in front of me doesn't block any part of the screen, the leg room is ample and there is enough distance between me and the people beside me. (We could be the closest of friends but any relationship is destined to end badly the minute a person ruins a movie moment for me.) Most of all, in my entire history of watching at Power Plant, I don't remember having to share the theater with an ignoramus who behaves like he's in a conference room. I don't know if I've merely been lucky with this particular place but this is simply one of my biggest pet peeves and I swear I have employed the help of powerful witches in seeking revenge from loudmouths who have done much less.

Based on observation, I would say 50% of the moviegoers here are senior citizens! I'd say this theater is at par with Gateway's for the comfy seating and capacity, and immersive viewing. I just find the picture of lesser contrast but their sound quality makes up for it though it can be too blaring at a point. Ranging from Pho240-260 a seat, it's a deluxe choice for a movie given Power Plant Mall is one of the more upscale shopping areas. Not too shabby but they really have to renovate their washrooms to compete with Century City that's just down the street.

When paying for your tickets you have to choose your seats as they are numbered. Also, prices differ of how long the movie has played in the theater. We were told to pick from a bowl for a prize. We received a free small popcorn. They have a snack bar with some choices. The free popcorn we received was wrapped in saran wrap but it was stale and no butter taste at all. Blah. Going into the theater, it was more like an orchestra set up, eye level and seat sections in three sections. The seats were pretty comfy but ok quality. We sat in the far right upper side and it was still not bad. Good thing the people here are shorter than in the US!! Haha No one seemed to really laugh out loud like us Americans when there were jokes or something funny said or done (watched Spider-Man: Homecoming!)! Hahaha...so embarrassing! Prices are decent and I would watch here again. [71/100]

The cinema has to have…read moreextensive snack options, crisp picture and sound, comfortable seating, good AC and above all, a sophisticated crowd. Shang Cineplex has all the mentioned factors which makes it my favorite place for a movie date (with myself or my friends). Their snack bar does not just involve popcorn and hotdogs but you can also grab a bite from the concessionaires. You can't bring in food from elsewhere though. You don't have to be in the special cinemas just to experience comfortable seating with ample leg room that you don't have to raise your legs each time someone passes by. AC can be quite chilly so I never go here without proper outerwear. But what makes my movie experience even more enjoyable is that I can just bask in its goodness (or lack thereof) without the crowd spoiling or giving annoying remarks and reactions. So if you're in the mood for a peaceful and satisfying place to enjoy a movie, this is definitely it.

BUT, there is the rare moment that I must watch a movie so that I get the FULL experience. Of all the cinemas, I choose to watch at Promenade Cinemas. Their cinemas are great because of the ambience, coziness, and not to mention the great sound system. If you can, try watching your movies at the Dolby Atmos cinema. Also, an essential element to the movie, the popcorn. Their popcorn is always buttery and evenly coated! LOVE IT! :) I always order a bucket for myself (hehe!). Best of all, cinema is always clean and their comfort rooms are spotless! Promenade Cinemas are excellent! You will get your money's worth + the best movie experience! :D

The…read moreGreenhills cinema is proof that if you pay attention to what the people want, it pays dividends. I like watching in Promenade because the cinemas and bathrooms are always clean, the seats are comfortable and they've got more than enough snack options close by. If I'm craving something salty, I buy the popcorn or fries. If I'm looking for something sweet, I buy an almond pretzel from Auntie Anne's. Another thing to consider is that they've got a big Fully Booked branch on the same floor so I usually browse through their new titles before heading in to watch the movie. That or I get lost in the haven of household items that is Gourdo's or the obsessive compulsive's organizing paradise, Beabi. The cinema also prides itself in having the Dolby Atmos sound system in some of the theaters so that's something to keep in mind when you're looking for an immersive cinema experience. Also, Greenhills is always packed on weekends so if you plan on watching a film that's just opened, either come early to buy tickets or prepare to watch at a later time. That also means that parking in the area can be challenging. If you hate to wait, take advantage of the mall's valet service. If there is anything to complain about, it's that their air conditioning is almost always turned up high, so bring a sweater or someone to hug. Or both, I recommend having both.

It might probably be just me but I think this is the best cinema you can watch any movie on,…read morespecially the ones that you've been waiting for and have been marked on your calendars since they announced that the movie was happening. Why do I like Promenade you ask... Do you remember the story of Goldilocks? like the one she always chooses is the one that's just right? Well, that's Promenade Theatres for me. It's the most comfortable, the seats are just right, so is the air conditioning and because I've been watching movies there for years now, it just feels like home. I love bringing snacks in, come on, who doesn't? and their snack bar typically has everything that I need. Their drink selection always has something new, maybe to shake things up a bit. So I always try whatever's new and I get myself a bag of chips! Oh and if you or your child needs some seat booster, the thing you put in your seat to give you a better view of the screen, they have it too. If you have a camera with you they do make you leave it with the guard but don't worry because they do really keep an eye on it OR if you're uncomfortable with this arrangement you can always leave it in your car. What do you think of the movie theatres at Promenade?

Another is that movies are plain great, cheap thrills... unless you're a total cheapskate and love resorting to torrenting crappy low-res versions of movies. To me, Promenade Cinema 8 is one of the best theatres that Manila has to offer, primarily because it was one of the first rooms that offer the astounding and dynamic acoustics of the Dolby Atmos system. This thing is a game-changer, I tell you. Suddenly big blockbuster flicks are even bigger and better without having the crummy and dizzying gimmick that is 3D. All for the same price as a movie in any other cinema, so why not? The only downside of Promenade Cinema 8 is sometimes, the theatre can get EXTREMELY cold. So make sure to bring a jacket.

Seats should be comfortable, the screen should be digital and clear, the theater should be cold but not too cold and the popcorn should be awesome. Theater Mall Cinemas offered just that especially with the amazing popcorn that they sell! While the theater can get extremely cold in the middle of the movie, it might just be a cute reason to cuddle up with your hubby. Or perhaps bring a nice cardigan or jacket to show off. I'm glad to see the Greenhills continued to improve their facilities by opening more theaters at the Promenade side. Bigger. better, yummier and definitely cleaner. Despite the competition just next door, I'm glad Theater Mall continues to maintain its clean and comfortable theaters.

So, my default theater had to be Theatermall, and it's kinda amazing to me how it has barely changed in over a decade. I suppose that's one of the biggest compliments I can possibly give a theater: it has remained clean and comfortable longer than its competitors. While other cinemas have inevitably had their floors transform into flytraps and had their apholstery disintegrate into itching powder, Theater mall has done well to keep things in a fresh state. The aging theater will need a hardware refresh in the coming years, but they'll hopefully keep the structure and the memories intact.
