The Plaza lobby.

The Plaza hotel is still a luxurious experience when visiting NYC. The Palm Court serves tea and muffins and omelettes for breakfast. The Libby has other places to eat and sit. The Oak room is a grand place to dine and watch people walk by next to Central Park. Pictures of Eloise still hang in the lobby. Great doormen, excellent hostesses and a must experience for anyone who loves New York.

Iconic New York hotel that has been featured in many movies and tv shows. The foyer's grand entrance and chandelier set the tone of what to expect from a building that was built when opulence was the norm. Please note that as of May 9,2026 they are doing construction outside the main entrance so the iconic view was photographed.

My team and I had afternoon tea at The Plaza's Palm Court. Since our group was large, they happily seated us at tables close to one another. The Palm Court was absolutely beautiful. Our server Porfirio started the afternoon on a high note by bringing the energy and telling us fun facts about the venue. This gave us the opportunity to joke around and have fun with our server who we even took photos with at the end. In terms of the afternoon tea, it has ruined me for all other afternoon teas as it was the best one I've ever had. For reference, we got the Central Park Afternoon Tea. In terms of tea, we got the Des Lordes (earl grey), Bai Mu Dan (white tea), an oolong, and another one. We loved the Bai Mu Dan and their oolong!

The Plaza is one of those well known historic landmarks in NYC that even if you've not been inside, you'be probably heard of it at one point or another. Located on the southeast corner of Central Park directly west of Grand Army Plaza, the 18-story building stands out in its French Renaissance chateau-inspired architecture details. It houses both hotel and condominiums, also several famous spaces within the building itself such as the Oak Room, the Oak Bar, the Edwardian Room, the Palm Court, the Terrace Room, and their Grand Ballroom. Completed in 1907, this building was constructed over the site of a previous hotel that stood there between 1890-1905. The hotel changed ownership numerous times in the past century, including passing thru the hands of Hilton, the Hotel Corporation of America, Westin, Sonesta, Trump, Kwek and Al-Waleed, El Ad Properties. Slightly ironic though not surprising given the foreign investment in the NY real estate market in the past few decades, this national landmark is currently owned by a Qatar state-owned enterprise Katara Hospitality. Numerous movies and TV shows have been filmed here, most notably the following: - North by Northwest 1959 - The Way We Were 1973 - The Front 1976 - Home Alone 2: Lost in New York 1992 - Sleepless in Seattle 1993 - Victoria's Secret's first Fashion Show in 1995 - Bride Wars 2009 - The Great Gatsby 2013 - The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel 2022 I've stayed at the Plaza once prior to their latest renovation, the rooms and bathrooms are very large for NYC hotel rooms, and the one I stayed in was decorated in a more classic European, traditional style. I do recall there being less fancy amenities and more unused open space in the room than one would expect. Being that it was the Plaza, I did wander around to all the areas that were open and recall the ballroom was very large and grand, and there were some beautiful chandeliers and ceiling details throughout the building. As other reviews have mentioned, Palm Court is famous for its over-the-top decorations and high tea service. When they used to let passerby enter the hotel without reservations, I used to come by once in a while to see the seasonal variations, and back then it was on and off in terms of how nice it looked, sometimes the atmosphere was more elaborate with gorgeous floral arrangements, other times considering its 5-star designation, it left a bit more polish to be desired. Can't speak to that now since it's been several years where the hotel was under renovation again and their entry policy seems to be much more strict. They used to have a food court downstairs that closed several years ago which was a nice touch, and reminded me of the fancier food courts downstairs at hotels and malls in Asia, though unfortunately that is also no more. Overall even though it's a location filled with lots of history, has some stand out architectural and design elements, and appeals to a more luxury audience, for the nightly price, unless you're a celeb that needs the level of privacy and service they might be able to provide, not sure if it's necessarily worth it.

Enormous room with a patio

Absolutely AMAZING! We stayed at the Plaza for 3 nights in March 2026. I had planned an engagement weekend for my now-fiancee months in advance. The Plaza was central to the entire experienve and not only did it not disappoint, it proved to be absolutely incredible! The staff were amazing! They handled sourcing a rare champagne for me, placing flowers in the room, placing reservations at restaurants, and did it all with a sense of humor and graciousness and attentiveness that frankly I've never experienced before. We will be returning for our anniversaries. Afternoon tea in the palm Court was sublime! It is virtually impossible to eat all of the food that they serve you despite the portions being small as as customary for afternoon tea. At times we were to have three servers assisting us. One would think that it could be a stuffy environment, but to the contrary, it is absolutely not. Everyone has a sense of humor and friendliness that deflates any stuffiness that would otherwise possibly be there. I absolutely cannot wait to return. It is a special place. The people make it special.

The plaza was so amazing and elegant. Our hostess was very sweet and she went beyond what was expected of her. The tea and food was delicious and very colorful, which made it so fun and special. This will be one of my go to places when I get back to New York!

Having tea at the plaza was a bucket list event for me... and it exceeded every expectation! The decorations are so beautiful and the perfect backdrop for holiday pictures. We had reservations and were seated right away! Elvis was our server and he was the best. He even brought us extras of our favorite sandwiches! The holiday tea was spectacular. Every bite was perfection! My favorites were the smoked salmon sandwiches, scones, and mini chocolate pie. Incredible! I also had the chai tea and we did the champagne add on. If you are looking to indulge in something elegant this holiday season, getting tea at the plaza is the way to do it! Whether you are a tourist or New Yorker, it is a must do experience!

It's been awhile since I've been back and while their afternoon tea should be avoided, drinks and snacks at the bar were delightful! We had champagne and the cheese and meat board. Both were outstanding. The rose champagne was delicious and crisp and the bartender was really friendly.

Didn't spend too much time here. It has significant history as many are aware but in my opinion, overrated when considering cost. Nevertheless, it's worth checking out if in the area.

This review is for a three nights stay at the hotel. I would highly encourage you to stay here if you are debating it. It is definitely worth the price tag. The concierge is so helpful and knowledgeable. We texted them before we even arrived to get some dinner reservations and while we were there, we got some more recommendations. The rooms are so beautiful and spacious and have everything you need. I love the robes and slippers! The shower is so luxurious and the bed was really comfy. The TV is not a smart TV, but it has a ton of channels. The spa is so nice as well and there is a fitness center and steam room within the spa that are available to hotel guests at any time. They have complementary boxed ' just water' for hotel guests. All the staff is SO kind and helpful. The staff definitely puts the plaza above other hotels. We got room service and they wheel it right next to your bed. It's presented very beautifully and was tasty - a bit pricey though. My only complaints were that the room did not have a fridge. It had a microwave, but not a fridge, which didn't make sense to us. The elevators were also very small and with a huge hotel that led to waiting for the elevator most times we needed one.

Exquisite bar off the lobby
Shawn D.

Stunning architecture, grand amenities, and a convenient location. Now the bad. Prepare to be assaulted upon exiting by a marauding flock of hustlers, scammers, pedicab operators, and others trying to suss you up. In fact, exiting the Plaza is probably one of my least favorite exits in hotel history and it makes for a stressful vacation. The bar staff were exceptionally rude and several of them would hustle in the corners to complain about their co-workers and commiserate about how terrible the workplace is. I tried sharing this with management but didn't get a response. All told, one of my least favorite Fairmont experiences.

Teresa S.

It's the Plaza need I say more? Everything at the Champagne Bar was fantastic. The servers were so attentive and friendly. The drinks were magnificent. The comfort was great after a long day at the MET. I will definitely be back.

Lily C.

I adore the high tea at the Plaza and have always been treated great each time I have visited. The service was stellar, with the waitress being very careful for my allergies, and accommodating with changes. That alone was worth the price tag for me. I got the vegan Afternoon Tea, which was a higher price point than it was ten years ago (got to hate inflation), but is a price I would still pay again for the service, ambiance, quality, and aesthetic.

Eloise Tea at the Plaza was an experience my family won't soon forget. All the details were exquisite but the ambience is unmatched.

Does the entire table have to order tea service or no? I learned the answer today- no, there is a $30 share fee. Just drinks can be had at the bar only in the daytime.

About how much time should we alot for high tea? Trying to schedule a carriage ride afterward.

Please dont ever take a carriage ride in NYC. The horses are treated terribly. Most recent incident was a horse named Ryder collapsed in the street & later died

Is the high tea worth the price?

In my opinion it wasn't worth it at all. The items you get didn't taste great, the service was average and the place it self was ok. I will never go back for high tea there.

Hi - Is there a private , comfy room with a couch or 2 for a baby shower , March 8,2-5 , 20 ladies , buffet or sit down , champagne toast?

Is there a suite for my daughters baby shower - March 8 , 2-5 , for 20 ladies?

Barbara: You might want to give the Plaza a call -- I'm sure they'll figure something out...

How much is high tea? Is the price per person? What does it include?

In September it was $80 excluding tax. If you want my advice (albeit unsolicited), save your money and go elsewhere - it's definitely not worth it. One of the most disappointing afternoon teas and food experiences in New York I've had.

How much is it for high tea?

55 dollars

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. This is a place we will return to -- not just for the luxury, but for the people who made us feel so genuinely at home during the most meaningful time of year.

Unfortunately, due to geopolitical instability impacting our return route through Amman and the broader Persian Gulf region, our travel plans became unworkable. I contacted multiple hotels involved in our itinerary, and every one of them demonstrated professionalism and understanding by waiving cancellation fees given the circumstances--including other Marriott properties and the Ritz-Carlton. This property, however, took a completely different approach. I spoke with Samir in the reservations department. He refused to provide any refund. We went back and forth multiple times, and each time he introduced a new justification. At one point, he claimed the U.S. State Department had not advised against travel to the Persian Gulf and that any warning had expired on March 31. I provided evidence that there was no expiration date, yet he continued to deny the request. I also explained that other Marriott properties and Ritz-Carlton locations had already issued full refunds under the same circumstances. Despite this, he continued to refuse any accommodation. Only after I told him I would be leaving a review about my experience did he offer a future credit. That is not a practical solution when I have no certainty of returning to Morocco. I then requested that a manager follow up with me. No one ever did. Communication stopped entirely. This response reflects a lack of flexibility, accountability, and basic customer consideration--especially when compared to how other properties under the Marriott International brand handled the exact same situation. As a result, I had to absorb the financial loss and cancel the reservation. Based on this experience, I recommend considering alternative accommodations that demonstrate greater responsiveness and professionalism when dealing with legitimate, unforeseen global disruptions.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. The lobby is pretty cool and hip. There's a small rooftop bar/lounge and a nice sized food/canteen area in the lobby. The location is outstanding. 50th just off 8th Ave...right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance to many other destinations. I would stay here in the future...2-3 nights is perfect. This spot is super centrally located, and during NYFW was an affordable, clean, and hip spot to stay for a few days. I am familiar with CitizenM as I have been to their hotel bars in their Miami locations, but had never stayed at one. I truly enjoyed my experience here. From check in to ordering wine or coffee at the bar, to the room, it was all lovely. I will say, the room is quite small. But truly, what do you need a big room for when you're going to be exploring NYC all day? The bed we got was a king, and dare I say it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The room is set up a bit like a studio, with two little closets which made it easy to organize and unpack, a small desk, and a vanity in the common area. The toilet and shower are together in what kind of looks like a spaceship capsule in the middle of the room. One cool thing is how high tech this hotel is - you have an ipad that controls everything in the room from the room temp, your blinds, to the TV, to connecting your devices to the TV to stream music, etc. In the lobby bar you can opt in for hotel breakfast buffet, but instead we would just grab coffees as we were getting ready. Grace at the bar was super friendly, as was all of the staff. My one area for improvement is the elevator. We received a notice that one of the three elevators was broken during our stay and every time we would get on the elevator it would take us multiple floors up before going down. Not the worst thing in the world, but just annoying if you're in a rush to get somewhere. If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located hotel to stay with a friendly staff this hotel is your spot. You have multiple subway stations within a 1-2 minute walk which can easily get you to any neighborhood you want to go during your stay. Would definitely return!

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. I just saw a random extra charge on my credit card. The manager, Delanie, had said this would be refunded, but never saw this refund come through just like the loyalty points.
