Enjoyed four nights here on a theater trip. It's a little bit removed from the midtown Broadway area, but there are a couple of subway lines nearby that will take you to Bryant Park or Times Square and it's a reasonable walk to the more northerly houses (Winter Garden, Gershwin, Broadway, O'Neill, etc.). Four four nights, I wanted a little more space, and a suite here cost about the same as a regular cramped room right in the theater district, so we went for it. The space really is nice, with the separate sitting room (very good size) and a bathroom much larger than the majority of NY hotels. The bed was comfortable and the closet had plenty of space for a multi-day stay, plus a coat closet right in the entryway. I guess it depends on which level of suite you get, but I was expecting a little more in the way of kitchen area. The mini-fridge was regular size and had just a small corner for your own stuff since it was pre-stocked. The decor may not be everyone's cup of tea with the heavy woods and ornate frames, etc. It goes for classic, but is starting to feel maybe a little dated rather than vintage. If you need sleek, modern accommodations, this is probably not for you. Lastly, the balconies fall under the category of not as great as they sound. I'm sure if you had a very high floor room, they would be better, but I was on the 10th floor and could see nothing but the ugly green wall across an alley. There was also no furniture on the balcony, so you would have to drag something from the room out there. The hotel does have additional pluses in terms of good Italian and steak restaurants onsite, both of which have very reasonable prix fixe lunch options. The aquarium in the lobby is a nice touch. The door is always staffed with friendly folks, and the housekeeping was solid throughout the stay. read more

My family and I just spent two nights here and had a great experience. I booked this back in May specifically because it is one of the only hotels in all of NYC who has a pull out bed from a couch and as a family of 4 with two kids who are too old to share a bed, this worked out great. This was also appealing because it did not break the bank for us either. Location in midtown was perfect. Guest services, checking in/out, and concierge were all wonderful. Our only complaint is that no kids were allowed on the rooftop terrace after 5pm. I understand for younger kids but mine are older and well-behaved. It would have been nice to sit up there with them to have a drink or apps as a family. Brunch times also messed us up (12-4pm) because we had a Broadway show to see. 11am would be a nice change for others. Overall a great experience. Walkable to nearly all everything worth seeing in NCY. read more

We come to NYC often, usually we like to stay at boutique hotels and we always end up satisfied. The last time we stayed in the Langham hotel for about $700 a night and it was outstanding, great hotel, amazing resturant, wonderful service, very clean and remodeled. The Kimberly hotel which costs about the same is the completely opposite. Though the room is spacious the decor feels like it hadn't been updated for 200 years, the carpet is dirty and smelly, no electrical outlet to charge your phone next to the bed, room service sucks, the two resturant both the Italian and the steak house were not very good either. Overall bad experience, we definitely will not be back here. The shower (inside a tub) didn't drain properly. Within two minutes, water rose around your feet, forcing you to stop sooner than you wanted. The sink drain was broken. The carpet smelled terrible. The mattress was worn out and uncomfortable. To top it off, I found it completely ironic that they have a sign in the lobby claiming that The Kimberly Hotel was "verified by Ford as one of the finest properties in the world 2025." Honestly, I would have believed it if it said 1925 instead... Never again. read more

Everyone from bell services to the front desk to the people at the restaurant were kind, helpful, and most of all treated my little six year old daughter like a queen and made her first trip to NYC the most memorable time. A good option for staying in Midtown New York, with everything nearby. The room was a good size, and the beds were comfortable. Check-in was smooth, though we requested a call from the front desk if the room was ready early, which didn't happen. We also asked for extra coffee pods which didn't happen. The room had a nice range of amenities, including a microwave, mini fridge, earbuds, and a shower cap. Overall, a great place to stay if the prices are reasonable. read more

Our first trip to New York and we were nervous. Being from Kentucky and not spending much time in large cities, we were not sure of the people, the hotel, and how do we get around...lots and lots of worries. No need to worry at all..from the first contact with our reservation agent (Alvin)at the hotel, till the hugs given when we got picked up on our last day by Uber; The Kimberly Hotel was the BEST! The staff was amazing and treated us with kindness and love. We loved, loved our doorman Harry and his stories. Miri and his restaurants/bars were amazing and we got to share some bourbon stories over my first "Manhattan" in Manhattan while looking down on the city from the "Upstairs". The hotel location was awesome as my wife has been in love with the tree in Rockefeller plaza for years and also her favorite morning show "The Today Show". A short walk up 50th and we would be there in just a few minutes. Also, the number 6 Subway line was just around the corner and from there you could be anywhere in New York with just a short subway hop. I stayed here the day after Thanksgiving with some family. You get what you pay for. The place is a bit more expensive, but I loved the rooms. The service here was wonderful. The Kimberly Hotel provided the largest hotel room I've ever had in Manhattan. To boot, the room came with a balcony to allow us to get a bird's eye view of midtown from 20+ floors up. The hotel's design veers toward the classic rather than the modern, but the red carpets, gilding, etc. give off a distinctively New York vibe. Valet parking was easy, although there are no in/out privileges. Best to ditch the car for a few days anyway and walk, take the subway, or take a cab. The hotel's location is a key feature. During my few days here, I walked to Ess-a-Bagel (around the corner), Blank Street Coffee (around the corner), Charoen Krung Thai (3 blocks away), Pret-A-Manger (3 blocks away), Ole & Steen Scandinavian bakery (2 blocks away), Dainobu Japanese Grocer (4 blocks away), Wonder Food Hall (2 blocks away), Rockefeller Center (9-minute walk), Times Square (20-minute walk), and the Broadway Theater District (20-minute walk). I went to a subway stop a block away (6 train at 51st and Lexington) to go to Koreatown, Chinatown, and Little Italy. I went to a subway stop 3 blocks away (E train at 53rd and Lexington) to go to Chelsea. Bottom line: the hotel is in a GREAT location and a safe neighborhood. Other notes: the hotel staff is super nice. The Upstairs restaurant has a great breakfast buffet (around 25 bucks for adults and 14 dollars for kids under 15). It also has a great outdoor space. The hotel walls appear to be pretty soundproof--I did not hear my neighbors except for a few times when they entered the common hallway. There are not many units on each floor. Finally, would I stay here again? Absolutely. read more

I can't recommend this hotel highly enough. First time in New York with the whole family, 9 of us. Booked four rooms. From the minute we pulled up from the airport, we were treated like royalty. Front desk was very accommodating. We arrived at 9:00 am and they held our bags at the lobby until the afternoon check in. The Doormen, Harry and Ralph, were amazing. When asked about a good place for breakfast, Harry walked next door to the New York Luncheonette to set up a table for 9. The next day, I asked Ralph about bagels. He said to pass the closest place with a long line and go to a place where he gets his bagel. What a tip, his place was incredible. They both offered umbrellas each time we ventured out. Harry also set up transportation back to the airport. First class. Each time we passed the front desk, we were greeted by name and asked if we needed anything. Always a smile on their face. The rooms were way bigger and nicer than I anticipated. Amazing views from the balcony. Room service staff was very nice in the morning with a great pot of coffee. Very cool rooftop bar with great views of the city. The entire staff could not have been more professional, courteous and accommodating. What a beautiful hotel. We had a lovely 6-day stay in midtown Manhattan. We showed up a day late due to airline travel issues but made a simple call to make sure they held our room. The front desk staff, bellman, and other staff were incredibly kind and helpful. From Harry hailing us a cab daily to the maid service... all were top-notch. Our room was very spacious and clean. We thoroughly enjoyed the Penthouse bar as well. Excellent service. It made for a great anniversary trip. Readers of Architectural Digest, beware: We had a comfy suite filled with 'brown furniture' -- the stuff that reminds you of grandma's and has seen better days. The coffee table to the dresser to the mirror will fill you with nostalgia for the 20th century. Yet we love the nabe (we used to live a few blocks away) and know where to find good food/drink and how to get around. Convenient to Grand Central and midtown. The master and sofa beds were both INCREDIBLY SOFT, balcony had a nice open and walkable space, storage units were very useful, and we simply just enjoyed that the natural light really brightened up the entire room! Because Manhattan was in the last leg of our trip, we were a bit exhausted so our only regret was not being able to enjoy brunch at their rooftop restaurant. Other than that, EVERYTHING WAS PERFECT.... we were always greeted at the door and just felt very welcomed...which we appreciated. We want to give a special shout out to Dusty Garcia, Director of Guest Experience! I was having some work done to my home, so I stayed here s I had to be out for a few days. The customer service was ok. The place was nice. My bed had a bunch of gross stuff in it which made me question whether or not it was even cleaned or new sheets were used. I called, they came but it took a while. They made our three little kids feel special throughout our stay and always had smiles. Once again staff when above and beyond for me. I went for drinks upstairs with a potential work contact. They catered to us outside by the fireplace even though they normally don't have table service outside when it's cold. Also, I was wearing a splint on my wrist and struggled to get it back on after going to the bathroom and washing my hands. The staff at the kimberly went way above and beyond to help me, offered me water, and even hailed a cab for me to get home when my "friend" refused to help and I was clearly struggling. This was our first time staying at this hotel. We usually visit NY when every we want to see a Broadway play, but the hotel that we usually stay in has gone down and now allow pets. This hotel exceeded our expectations. It was clean, stately and the staff were extremely accommodating. They have great brunch in their roof top restaurant, which is extra but worth the money. You would be hard pressed to find views like this WITH a balcony anywhere else. I stayed at this hotel for 2 nights. It charged me for 3 nights. After calling for a refund for 4 weeks, they gave me partial refund. I showed up at the hotel. They told me they didn't have the room I booked and they will give me a different room instead. They never told me they'll charge me double the amount for that room. I got charged for 2 rooms for that one night and eventually after pleading for a month, got back a refund for the wrong amount. Very unpredictable. DO NOT recommend. I am heading to consumer court to get my money back. read more

Excellent customer service and overall experience from the second our cab pulled up! The room was perfectly clean, including the bathroom and kitchen. Bed was very comfortable. Breakfast room service is exceptional, dinner, not so much. At least what we ordered for dinner wasn't good. It was the fettuccine and suppose to be a white wine sauce if I remember correctly. The pasta tasted microwaved, and there was hardly any sauce. A better bet would be to go to the Italian restaurant downstairs for dinner, and the restaurant upstairs (where room service is from) for breakfast. We LOVED our French toast, potatoes and peppers, sausage, and berries. So so good. We ordered pastries the next morning and those were really good too. Housekeeping did a phenomenal job as well! The photos of this hotel don't even do it justice. We visited for a Valentine's Day weekend trip because we were searching for a place to stay that had a romantic feeling, and we picked the perfect place. The room was spotless and clean, and the staff was pleasant and made sure we had recommendations for the area. The bathrooms have heated tile. We visited the penthouse lounge for drinks and there was a group having an event with loud music. It wasn't a big deal at all, but we ended up in the elevator with the restaurant manager on the way back down and he formally apologized for the volume and had a complimentary bottle of wine sent to our room to make up for it. I would visit this hotel again in a heartbeat. read more

The room I had was a massive one bedroom apt, with a kitchenette, and a very spacious balcony. I really liked how there was a microwave in the room, a big refrigerator, freezer, a comfortable couch for sitting, office desk, the room service was tasty, the rooftop bar was awesome, with great views of the city, the dry cleaning service was top notch too. I got the dry cleaning back in a jiffy. I also like how the bedroom came with a huge custom closet, the a/c got nice and cold, the housekeeping staff are on it, didn't miss a beat, and kept my room sparkling clean my entire week stay. This was my first time staying at the Kimberly hotel and I will definitely be a return customer. I can say this will be the only hotel I stay at when I visit New York. I stayed in a one bedroom suite for 6 nights on the 29th floor. Space felt luxurious and comfortable. It was quiet, has blackout curtains in the bedroom, I slept great on the beds. It was easy to get from the hotel all over town either walking or on subways. The staff were friendly, professional and helpful for whatever we requested. A coat is missing 4 minutes after closing and no other patrons in the place and it's not your fault? An employee obviously stole the jacket, and management is complicit in covering it up.
