Conveniently located in theater district - walkable to most shows. Rooms were clean and decently appointed appreciated the separate shower and toilet. I liked the automatic shades on remote. Room could be darkened for good sleep. There were a few hiccups like the door to get into the hotel is confusing. The concierge promised to cancel a reservation but didn't.

Stopped by The Knickerbocker Hotel with the girls before a comedy show, perfect spot to pregame! The rooftop is gorgeous, not too touristy, and yes, you can see the ball drop from here. We ordered from the sushi bar so many options! and everything tasted amazing. The espresso martini with Scotch was a fun twist I'd totally try again. Drinks are a bit pricey, but worth it for the view and experience. Friendly staff, great service. I'll definitely be back

We booked The Knickerbocker for our first luxury hotel stay, expecting comfort and professionalism. Instead, the first night brought anxiety and disappointment. The rush as soon as you walk in with bags taken and placed on cart was unsettling. A bellman entered his phone number into mine and offered a "Cadillac driver" for $75 one way -- something management later confirmed wasn't a hotel service. Then the concierge treated me with hostility when I asked what could be done about a woman begging with her baby. She warned me that calling CPS would make the mother "go to jail, get depressed, start doing drugs," and the baby would be "in danger in the hands of strangers." She said I needed to just enjoy my vacation and it wasnt her job to give personsl opinions (even though this was her whole lecture) but she'd be happy to help me find a restaurant. As I walked toward the elevator, she loudly complained about me to another staff member -- the same manager I was referred to. The $60-per-night extra "premium view" was scaffolding, the minimalist room lacked warmth, the towels hung to reuse were removed, and the extra handtowels we requested were also removed while we were gone for the day. The semi- see through doors for toilet and shower were awkward. The last interaction included a helpful bellman that guided us in getting to our train on time. Rochelle, the manager, seemed to care, but no tangible amends was offered. Beautiful building -- but luxury should mean safety, empathy, and respect. We wouldn't return.

This place was hands down the best hotel I've ever stayed at no exaggeration. I was here for a work trip and I didn't want to leave haha! Every detail is thought out from the way they set up the room to how they lay out your slippers at night (huge brownies points!!!) everything made me feel so taken care of. The room was super modern and cozy with a luxurious tone (if that makes sense). They have Diptyque products and i was surprised because that's one of my favorite perfume brands. great water pressure even on higher floors and of course comfy bedding. The pillows are extra extra soft, too soft, so you can ask for firmer ones actually. Also, you're in the middle of Times Square but the room is still peaceful. They had construction right outside my window but I didn't mind. They come in the evening to close the curtains and make the room turn down. The breakfast buffet was soooooo good and had options for every type of person. You can be very picky and still find something. The staff was amazing too!!!! Everyone is so warm and welcoming. I saw lot of professionals and families and elderly couples so there's no way you don't feel comfortable. I didn't get to check out the rooftop but I'm planning to come back just for that. This place really felt like a second home. Actually maybe better than home!!

Martini Experience

I enjoyed an excellent martini experience at the Knickerbocker. They are home to the original dry martini and have a table side drink cart where they are made and served. It comes with an appetizer and a take home martini making kit which is very high quality. Afterwards be sure to check out the views from the rooftop!

The staff described its old carpet and all the rooms are like this.

Our initial room was terrible: messy carpet, a slightly messy bed, dirty cushions, and a soiled sofa. When we asked the staff about the situation, we were greeted by rude staff. We were moved to a new room which was clean, but it was right next to the elevator, making it loud with noise and guest chatter that we noticed later toward the evening. The most upsetting incident occurred on our 3rd day when we returned to find our room door had been left open (unsecured). This security breach, especially next to a high-traffic elevator, is unacceptable. This was the worst experience, especially for a $3,200 stay meant to celebrate my wife's birthday.

As many previous reviews have mentioned the pros and cons of staying in heart of tine square, you just have to weigh which outweighs more. For me, my intention was to see the shows, so it was a perfect central location. Also, since I lived here for over 13 yrs, I know my way around easy enough that 42nd was a great central point for me to go north, and south in the city. Though as some mentioned, the noise at 1 am and on was unbearable. Getting through massive tourist crowd was hectic. Jimmy, the bellman was wonderful. Other staff was nice. I called downstairs and there was one woman who had a horrible aggressive attitude but you can't have it all. I think this was the most spacious room i ever had in nyc and I have stayed in many hotels in diff metropolitan cities.

I stayed here while in town and this hotel is definitely in the heart of time square and has anything and everything you want to see near by. When we checked in it was a fast seamless process and we were off to are room everything was really clean and you definitely felt safe. We ended up getting a premier view room of time square and it was the only issue I had since there was scaffolding across the entire front of the hotel since the city was maintaining the building so it hindered the view a little bit but other then that it was a great stay and would definitely stay here again.

Folks, I've got to tell you about the Knickerbocker Hotel in NYC, and it's not good. This place was absolutely disgusting. I'm giving it two stars, and that's being generous because the staff was kind of nice. But let's break it down. First off, the cleanliness - or should I say, the lack of it. The rooms were filthy. Carpets stained, bathrooms not properly cleaned, and the whole place had a musty smell. You expect much more from a place that's supposed to be high-end. Walking into that room was a real disappointment. Then there's the maintenance. The furniture looked old and worn out, not what you expect from a so-called luxury hotel. The air conditioning barely worked, and there were issues with the plumbing. It felt like the place hadn't been properly maintained in years. Totally unacceptable for a hotel charging these rates. And speaking of rates, let's talk about the price. For the amount they charge, you expect top-notch facilities and service. But what you get is far from it. Overpriced, plain and simple. You're not getting value for your money, folks. There are far better places to stay in NYC for the same price. The only reason this place gets two stars is because the staff was kind of nice. They tried their best to be helpful and courteous, but there's only so much they can do when the hotel itself is in such poor condition. It's a shame because good staff deserves a better environment to work in. The location is decent, I'll give it that. You're close to Times Square and other attractions, but honestly, there are plenty of other hotels in the area that offer much better experiences. Location alone isn't enough to make up for all the shortcomings. The amenities? Barely worth mentioning. The gym was small and poorly equipped, and the rooftop bar, which could have been a highlight, was a disappointment. Limited menu, overpriced drinks, and not a great atmosphere. It felt like a missed opportunity. So, in conclusion, the Knickerbocker Hotel in NYC is a big letdown. Dirty rooms, poorly maintained facilities, and overpriced for what you get. Two stars, and that's only because the staff was nice. Look elsewhere if you want a decent stay in New York. This place doesn't cut it.

Ask the Community - The Knickerbocker Hotel

Is there a gym?

Yes

Which rooms have tubs?

Hello, our Deluxe Rooms have tubs. Also the Tribute Suites and our Caruso suite. Regards, Liz

Are hotel guests expected to buy drinks when visiting the rooftop? Me and my boyfriend are sober and vegan but I would still love to visit for the view.

I went up there three nights in a row (and did order drinks). I don't believe you need to order anything though, as it is open seating and wait staff comes around every 20 minutes or so.

Can someone tell me, the junior corner suite at this hotel, it only has 1 kind bed or does it also have a double queen (or perhaps a king + a bed sofa ?)

Thank you for your question! Each Corner Junior Suite offers one King-size bed, but several of our Junior Suites feature two Queen-size beds.

Some highlights for me were the apples in the room (the big apple), the postcards they'd mail for you, a celebratory champagne/chocolate strawberries (we just got married this year), a picnic blanket they let us borrow for the park, a mirror tv bathroom, the heated floors, the location and the view. The concierge ways always there to help us with any questions or requests we had. We loved the picnic blanket they found us for the park. They also gave us a few food recommendations. Friends thought we were a lil crazy for bringing two kids to Manhattan, but it ended up being such a special trip for us, and the Park Hyatt was a huge part of that. The hotel is beautiful, from the gorgeous floral arrangements throughout the property to the calm, elegant atmosphere. Our room was incredibly spacious, which felt like a true luxury in New York, especially with a stroller, luggage, SNOO and everything that comes with traveling with a newborn. Having that extra space made the entire trip feel easier. One of our favorite parts of the stay was the indoor pool. We took the boys swimming almost every night, and it became our little ritual. They loved it, and those evening swims are still some of my favorite memories from that trip. The location was perfect for a family stay. We walked to Central Park, FAO Schwarz, Fifth Avenue, Rockefeller Center, Columbus Circle, and so many nearby restaurants, coffee shops, and stores. Being able to explore for a few hours, come back to the hotel to rest, and then head back out again made New York feel surprisingly easy. Now, two years later, our boys are older and we're planning another New York trip. I've been looking at hotels, but I keep coming back to the Park Hyatt because of how special that first stay was for our family. It would be pretty amazing to bring the boys back, let them swim in that pool again, and experience the hotel at a different stage of their childhood. The Park Hyatt will always have a special place in our family's New York memories.

I had booked the majority of my trip at another hotel, but I needed an extra night and used Marriott points for this stay. Overall, I thought it was a great place to stay. The location was very central, but it was not in the most crowded part of Times Square which I appreciated. It was a little hard to find at first because of nearby construction, but once I arrived, everything felt convenient and easy to access. The staff was relaxed, friendly, and helpful during check-in. I arrived around 1:00 PM, and my room was not ready yet, but once it was available, staff members were helping guests check in using the computers. The hotel has a very modern, tech-forward feel. The room included an iPad that controlled the lights, colors, and other settings, which gave the space a futuristic vibe. The room itself was very clean and felt pretty spacious for a New York hotel. The sheets and bathroom were clean, and I felt like I had everything I needed for a short stay. I also felt like it was a good value. I used about 58,000 Marriott Bonvoy points for the night, and New York hotels can easily run anywhere from about $200 to $500 per night depending on the date. Since I stayed on a weekday, that may have helped with the overall value. The next day, relocating to my other hotel was simple because the area was so central. As a Gold member, I also received late checkout, although I ended up leaving earlier than I needed to. The only thing that stood out was hearing another guest complain about the staff, which surprised me because my own experience had been very positive.

It didn't help that everyone had to take an elevator just to reach the lobby, then another to get to their room. Fortunately, I was only on the ninth floor...so I got my steps in. The room itself was mostly ok. One thing I really didn't like was the air conditioning. It wouldn't cool below 68 degrees. I despise hotels that throttle the A/C. I'd get warm, the air would finally kick on, I'd be comfortable for about ten minutes...then the cycle would repeat all night. Another thing that caught me off guard was the ceiling. Other than those complaints, everything else in the room was perfectly acceptable, and for a one night stay, it did the job.
