Clean water is a necessity. I turned on the bathroom faucet and black water poured out. When I called Front Desk the snippity girl told me there was construction across the street and just let it run until clear. Then when I said I'd like 6 bottled water sent, instead she only sent 2. When I called a second time for more she said only two are allowed and then there is a charge. So rude. No I apologize, I'm sorry for the inconvenience, what else can I do. I recently stayed at Hotel Hendricks during a work trip and it was a terrible experience. I would not stay there again. Generally the room looked ok, but very small. The pillows on the bed were quite uncomfortable and also they were shaped and sized like couch throw pillows rather than bed pillows. The ironing board's padding was so thin and deteriorated that it left creases all over my clothes from the underlying metal mesh. Even though I wasn't that close to the elevator, it made a weird (and loud) noise all night long, kind of like a slide flute. It was so loud and constant that it kept me awake even though I was wearing high quality earplugs. The in-room fire alarm flashed an unusually bright light continuously throughout the night, making it even more difficult to get a peaceful sleep. What made the stay go from below average to awful was that one night the fire alarm in my room malfunctioned and starting going off at 2:30 am, the night before the important presentation that I had traveled to NY to deliver. It wasn't the whole hotel, just my room. When I went downstairs to get help, it took me nearly 30 minutes to find the desk clerk, who had wandered off and no contact info was provided for emergencies. I never received an apology or even acknowledgement, even though being awakened from a dead sleep in the middle of the night made me a wreck the next day. And, if you're thinking, what are the odds - a guy a few doors down from me had the same thing happen two nights before. The desk clerk didn't seem surprised and my guess is that it's not a rare issue there. Also, my assistant booked the room on a third-party site and the rate was advertised as being "with all taxes and fees included." This was a lie, as soon as you show up you get a stern lecture from the desk clerk about how you are required to pay a $45/night "amenity fee" in a tone that implies he will have security drag you to a back room and beat you don't immediately sign an agreement to pay it without protest. If you're curious what $45 of "amenities" looks like - it consists of: one small generic bottle of water upon check in, free slowish WiFi, and access to a small and poorly fitted out gym. read more

This hotel is meant for content creators and people who love new and pretty. The ambiance was new, and you can tell that it was created for a younger crowd. Thank you for the birthday shot at the bar, and the mixed drink I ordered was delish. Ethan and Daniel were the best at customer service , and I forgot the name of the young man who let us in the bathroom, but THANK YOU!!! (Coming off a flight and not knowing the subway system makes a girl reallllllllly nervous!!!) Now..the rooms...I can tell that they renovated these quickly, but they're cute. There isn't a real overhead light, but that makes the room a lil sexy. Watch out for leaking in the shower, because the door frame at the bottom does not allow for the water to flow back in the shower. It instead flows out into the bathroom floor....and your mat will be SOAKED. There's also not a fan in the bathroom. Ya'll are gonna have mold/mildew problems soon. The room was CLEAN as heck! Shout out to Housekeeping! Uhm....I don't know if my sister and I didn't look like the normal rooftop people, but I thought that it was kinda rude that we weren't acknowledge as we were standing, waiting for a seat...or a menu...It was kinda disappointing to be treated like that on my birthday, but I got love at other bars. I booked through Expedia , and upon arrival was told there was an extra daily fee...for what I have no idea. There's a sign at the front desk saying they give you a bottle of water (yay but what else am I getting for my $50+ daily?), and they were out of water anyway. The rooms are reminiscent of a cruise ship...tiny with no room to store luggage, and DARK. They are aesthetically cool, but not very functional. The light in the bathroom is off to the left, so using that mirror and applying makeup is not ideal...and that's the only mirror. The swinging glass door on the bathroom cannot be propped open...highly inconvenient, especially if you have 2 people going in and out. We had an issue where our A/C stopped in the middle of the night and didn't come back on. The desk guys in the morning said they'd have someone look at it. When we got back our room was still warm, but we got it to work again. When we asked a girl at the front desk if anyone had come to work in it, she said she didn't know and had no way of finding out (what??). On the flip side, we found the male desk attendants to be super friendly all 3 days, and the water pressure was great. But there are a dozen hotels right around there at the same price point, so I'll try a different one next time. read more

Second time staying here solo! Great place for someone who is traveling solo and will spend most of their day outside. Location is great. Super close to the subway. Lots of things are walkable. Went in August and found myself relaxing in my room more than last time when I went in May cus of the heat. AC was great. Sometimes too good. I would be really cold and if I turned my thermostat to 70 degrees Fahrenheit it started to get warm (interesting lol). But near the end of my stay the thermostat was perf. Not perfect stay but again good for solo travel. Bathroom door is annoying bc it does not open fully. Room is quite dim but I thought bathroom lighting was nice. Elevators are quite slow sometimes and a lot of people went to the rooftop so I'd be in the elevator with a lot of people at once. Room is tiny but for one person it's good. Don't know if I'd come with more than just myself here. Overall, good hotel for location and price. Would come again if I was solo. I had a cute view of the Empire State tho! read more

This hotel had a classic mixed with an Aloft Hotel vibe. I enjoyed my drink, and I enjoyed conversing with the bartender. However, the turning point was when the bartender coughed in her hand. I've stayed here a few times now and without issue! Yes, the rooms are typically very small but they've always been clean, cozy with all of the basic needs. The hotel lobby is narrow, but there is a little bar/cafe there which makes it super convenient if you're running out in the morning and would like to grab a latter or cup of coffee on the way out. They also have a stunning rooftop bar! Overall, the rates are generally decent and the location is very convenient so those two factors are typically what influence my decision to stay here. If you're planning a trip to NYC where you will be busy and out of the room quite a bit, I would definitely recommend. But if you're looking for a hotel with a little more comfort and amenities to enjoy on-site, it may not be the best fit. But it'll get the job done if you need just the basics! read more

First the positives: Hotel Hendricks is conveniently located in the heart of Manhattan, and just a block or so from Bryant Park. The nightly rate for a queen bed wasn't bad, and the bed did have both outlets and USB ports on each side. Now the negatives: Tiny room. Bad water pressure. Housekeeping doesn't know how to clean sinks or toilets (gross). But what ruined the stay for me was the rudest guest relations experience I have ever had at any hotel. I was argued with regarding my request for an emailed receipt. The two men behind the front desk were flip, arrogant and argumentative for absolutely no reason. Purely because of the service I received, I will not return to the Hotel Hendricks. I recommend others not stay here as well unless customer service is not a concern. We really enjoyed staying here. It was a great location for a holiday themed trip to NYC. Very close to the subway, Rockefeller, Bryant, Time Square, etc and extremely walkable. We thought the room was well cared for as well. It has high end fixtures like waterworks in the bathroom which I had not seen in a hotel before. We also absolutely loved that we could ask for a bottled water every day to walk around the city with. Our only complaint was being on a noisy floor. There were two nights were our neighbors got home late and woke us up but I think this could be remedied by not staying close to the elevator. Overall, beautiful and convenient. This hotel lacks in making guests feel appreciated. Upon arrival, they were "out of water". After a LONG trip we had to walk up the street to get water after midnight because they were out. We asked for room service and they've forgotten to take care of that today (managed 2 days and skipped today. We still have 2 more days). WiFi is weak. TV signal weak. Coffee machine basically blew up and we were unable to get coffee. They told us we could buy from the restaurant that's downstairs so that's what we did. They fixed the problem but then didn't restock us with coffee or more cups. Had to go down and ask for that. We are celebrating a birthday and brought a very special bottle of wine. Asked the front desk for 2 wine glasses and they don't have any. Of course. We are having our celebration wine in the plastic water drinking cups that are in the bathroom. Now for the room.. it's very very small and the bathroom is extremely small with little to no shelf space. For over $400 a night I expect a little more. I'd say it's overall less than mediocre. I can safely say we won't be staying at Hotel Hendricks on our next visit to Manhattan. read more

This was by far the worst hotel experience I have ever had. The front desk manager, Jonathan Fernandez, sexually harassed my girlfriend by aggressively pressuring her to share her Instagram account after she clearly said no. He shoved his phone in her face and refused to take no for an answer, making her feel unsafe and deeply uncomfortable in a supposedly professional environment. Other guests and employees witnessed this, yet no one intervened. When I reported this to management, Anthony Damiano showed complete disregard for our experience. Despite spending $1,763 on three nights, the only compensation offered was a $100 discount per night--which was later rescinded after I insisted on holding them accountable. On top of this, the hotel gave us the wrong luggage and lost a sentimental blanket, showing a pattern of neglect and poor customer service. They repeatedly wasted our time asking the same questions about the missing item without any real effort to resolve the issue. This hotel failed us on every level. There's no corporate contact info, no working corporate website, and no clear path to escalate complaints. It's like they've made it impossible to be held accountable. If you want your wife, girlfriend, or even daughter to avoid harassment, do NOT come here. This is not a joke or an exaggeration--this hotel failed us on every level and put my girlfriend in an unsafe position. I urge anyone considering Hotel Hendricks to look elsewhere and for management to seriously reevaluate their staff training and guest safety policies. read more

My friends and I really wanted to give this place a chance. Since reviews seemed decent, location and price were great attractive features for us. After our stay... we'd describe this as trying to be like a Japanese hotel, but on a budget. And largely failing at it. We stayed here for 3 nights. Rooms are small but we expected it to be since it was in the middle of the city where space is at a $$ premium. Similar to what we experienced staying in Tokyo. Definitely only good for 2 people max per room. Ideally a couple since the bathroom isn't completely private. Comes with in room fridge, safe, closet with hangers, bathroom amenities, usb charging ports. Ironing board is tiny and only a few inches in height. Bedside lights are harsh and too bright like flashlights, unusable. One big light hanging above bed which was a bit nerve racking. One chair. One strip of desk table. No rack to put luggage on. The room set up is terrible and doesn't make good use of the available space and furniture placing. We could barely fit and open both our Carry on luggage in the room comfortably. We had to rearrange some furniture in the room to make better use of the space. The room is also very dark using the lighting provided. So dim that it was hard to see clearly in certain areas. We kept the curtains closed since it's so close to Nextdoor buildings that they can probably see in. Many things in the room were broken or malfunctioning. The bathroom door is a huge piece of glass on hinges. The glass was not set up properly, did not move smoothly. The glass kept loudly scraping on the bathroom floor and didn't seem safe to keep opening/closing. Also we could not keep the door open (our friend's room did now have an issue), we had to prop it open with hangers we found in the room. Most importantly, I highly doubted the cleanliness of the room. When we arrived, there was a wet dirty towel already in the shower. We were missing our in room "do not disturb" door tag. There was some trash underneath the bedside table. Housekeeping just comes in daily to make the bed, sheets are not changed until the 4th day? 2 elevators available. Glass walls on elevators were cracked and damaged. Location is great though, located near k-town where there is plenty of food options to choose from. Close to Bryant Park, Times Square, 30 Rock - all a short walk away. Easy access to subway station. Very convenient. Rooftop bar is open Tuesday to Saturday evening. She was very sweet and friendly. The hotel pictures are a bit misleading. The hotel room was very tight for a room with two beds. The lobby had construction going on so it literally consisted of just two chairs which was odd. Aesthetically though this hotel is beautiful. I fell in love mainly with the bathroom. I loved the marble and brass combo. It felt very lux! And the water pressure was spectacularly hot and intense! The animal print theme throughout the room was beautiful and sexy as well. My main issue is the room is too dark, too small and not as comfy as I'm used to in hotels. Everything about my stay was perfect. Upon my arrival, staff at the front desk were very friendly. They held my bags meanwhile my room was being prepared and I went to explore the city. When I returned, my room was ready and it was spotless. I'm the type of person to wipe the bathroom and common areas down with a Lysol wipe but there was nothing to wipe down. The views from my king Empire State room were spectacular! Black out curtains and the room being sound proof was a plus. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. I loved that the hotel provided a robe and flip flops during the stay. It was a nice touch. Wifi works perfectly. My room included a refrigerator as well. The rooftop bar has two floors, one 369 degree indoor rooftop bar with views to the Empire State and the rest of the city, and another outdoor rooftop bar with 180 degree view to the Empire State. I highly recommend trying the blood orange mule, it's delicious! Go during happy hour too! The hotel's location is very central. It's on 38tb street between Broadway and Fashion Ave. There are many subway stations just a few minutes away. There's a coffee shop across the street and various places to eat! When I made the reservation, the cost was $2000 all in (plus/minus a few dollars) but the credit card charge they put on my card when I had showed up was a few hundred dollars more ($2500). They told me some of it is just deposit and the actual cost would be less. However the final cost on my credit card was $2300 -- still $300 more than what I was told when I had booked the reservation on their website. I did not agree to what they had charged me. It's fraud and mis representation. When I noticed that, the front desk person checking in me in told me to not worry and that I could still be rest assured as I would have a week to figure it out with their manager. And it was ok to sign the check in papers and let them run the credit card so that I could check in. I tried calling billing and emailing them and no one gets back to me. I showed up in person to the front desk when I was at the hotel but they keep telling me they cannot help me and their manager is only there on weekdays before 4pm (which I was not in the hotel for... I booked the hotel for work reasons so I was gone during the few hours the manager was in). I've since emailed them 3 times, called 3 times and stopped by the front desk 3 times (but manager wasn't around so they couldn't help me) silence. I asked them to pass message to their manager but they said I needed to show up in person to chat w the manager while the manager is in... WHAT?! So long story short, even now, I'm still over charged and getting no assistance about this. The hotel was also very noisy. I could hear everything sound/movement outside my room. Oh top of it, there some weird metal clanking sounds I hear at night (not sure what it was) that would show up every 10-15 min at night and then continue for like a minute or two which made it really hard to get good sleep. The bathroom door weirdly stays shut and you cannot keep it open -- the door also requires a lot of pressure to push it open. It just became inconvenient when coming in and out and getting ready for the morning. Bathroom was so tiny and the weird door situation meant I was blow drying my hair on my bed instead. read more

Front desk manager is absolutely one of the biggest jerks I've ever encountered. I called for a late check out, bc it's snowing and my flight was pushed back until the evening and Brandon from the front desk left a note in the system to help me out. The manager was very rude to me and told me he could only give me 1 extra hour which is NOT what I was told the night before. Then he tried to sell me 2 more hours for $75. Absolutely one of the worst experiences I've had. Won't be coming back. I've stayed at this hotel multiple times over the years and it's been going downhill. And now it seems that they don't care at alllll about their customers. Also the room they gave me didn't have a full length mirror and they wouldn't move me to a different room that does have one... which was just annoying. 0 out of 5 stars. There are so many similar sized and styled hotels in NY, particularly in Manhattan, that I usually don't have a strong opinion one way or the other. But one feature in particular really stood out at Hendricks: the shower. I have never experienced a shower head that was so forceful or capable of getting hot as the one at the Hendricks. I have dreamed of this shower head ever since and lament all the poor pressured ones thereafter. Aside from that, the staff was really friendly and the rooms a good balance of style and comfort. Where do I begin, anyone looking to stay here please reconsider. Came to NY for wife's birthday and after the first day my wife and I made sure to only use this hotel to ONLY SlEEP. So here's how it went Day 1- JFK to hotel is about 2 hours. Arrived at JFK around 10:30 called hotel, hotel said "by the time you get here room will be ready" get to hotel around 1ish, room still not ready till 3pm. No problem, wife and I go explore. Come back around 3ish room ready, get to room and it was just then being serviced (45 min wait) go downstairs get given a lower level room after I kindly asked for a high floor room. Get to room, it's beyond small (expected) room is DUSTY (sneezed all week, if you have allergies don't stay here) after walking the concrete jungle we get back to hotel and try to use the bar and or restaurant, they don't tell you this but almost every day they are closed for "private events" so maybe used bar once during our week stay( bar doesn't have sprite or pineapple juice also 22$ for 1 gin and tonic). Once settling in room and when getting ready for bed TV remote doesn't work wow. Day2- ready to take on New York, we wait on our floor for about 10 minutes because only ONE elevator works. Good thing we were out in the city all day, get back to hotel maybe hoping the rooftop is open for great pictures, good luck another event. I was told "come back at 8" came back still closed, "come back at 9:30" came back still closed, decided maybe we just don't come back. Get back to room, tv still doesn't work fyi Day3- after waking up sneezing like crazy I take a look at vents and the dust was INSANE, close look around the room and just insane how much dander and dust there is. End up walking the City again, after being in 30 degrees of weather I'm excited to take a hot shower at the $2,600 hotel I'm paying for and the water is insanely cold, then finally after about 3 minutes the water is now boiling? Tried adjusting again and guess what, frigid cold. Fyi our room wasn't attended and our towels not changed and no hand soap. Day4- once again waking up in a sneeze frenzy, go travel the city come back around 6 and wouldn't you guess our room still not attended. Same towels and still no hand soap.. guess what! Elevator down once again. And to top it off ,another private event!! Woo hoo. Day5- my favorite day at this hotel, so read day 1- day 4 same issues. And now our sink is clogged!! I'll post videos. So now I have to brush my teeth looking at who knows spit in my sink and can't wash my face in the AM. Wake up to check out and sink is still clogged. Overall guys, this hotel is trash, stay somewhere else, pay the extra and just trust me, all the staff is maybe 24 years old and younger, they don't care about your stay, staff uses the main elevators so expect to take multiple rides before getting to your room, also the rooms are super super dark, bring a flashlight. Poor service. We arrived from the West Coast, checked in & went to late dinner. When we arrived back at our room the toilet was inoperable. The "engineer" played ard & said it was fine. First flush in the morning, it neared overflowed again. Engineer was called and didn't show. I insisted on a different room with a working toilet at the front desk, was told they had no other unless I wanted a bigger room for an addl charge. I asked for a room then w/ a working toilet. We moved to a smaller room. The next day, I asked for the mgr the next evening, explained that I was irked at being charged same price for a smaller room. He said he'd move me again, but that was it. I didn't want a 3rd room & another move (my wife & I are in our 70's)! I waited for him to look me in the face when talking as he seemed absorbed my his screen - I wear a mask bc I have cancer and am immunocompromised so find it important for people to look at me while talking. He also refused to give me his name when I asked, said I didn't need it. An employee told me later that mgr's name, Eugene. Extremely inconsiderate and unaccommodating. If you're a visitor to NY, pick another hotel! (I wouldn't be surprised if he even argued about this review...) read more

Smallish lobby due to a huge support beam right smack in the lobby. 2 elevators and 1 restaurant available. The elevators during busy hours can be slow; also, there is no separate service vice elevator for maintenance staffs to use. So you will be in the elevator with engineering carts full of paints like I did. Rooms are bigger than the hotel next door which is a plus. Room is basic and dark. Needed a place to stay in the city while catching Saturday Night Live show in NYC. Hotel Hendricks met all the criteria, great midtown location in a quiet area walking distance to Rockefeller Plaza, Penn Station, etc, and a roof top bar as a bonus. The Hotel opened a few months back and still had that new hotel glow about it. Check-in was quick and efficient, the front desk personal were friendly and courteous as were all of the staff we met during our stay. The rooms are not huge but have a great layout and all the amenities needed. The views from our 23rd floor room was excellent with the Empire State Building and One World Trade framed in the big city skyline. Besides the rooftop bars they also have a nice bar on the main floor in the lobby across from the front desk. The bed was comfortable and the bathroom layout and shower were functional and nicely designed. Solid 5 stars for this new stylish hotel with fantastic service and its industrial-chic design, Featuring 24-hour virtual concierge, Paloma restaurant, Two rooftop bars, In-room dining, 24-hour Fitness Center, Venues for private events and Pet-friendly. Hotel Hendricks is truly a mixed bag. I was originally excited about our booking here but became wary after reading more into some of the reviews. I decided it wasn't worth changing my booking so just went forward with our reservation. The good: - We were able to check in several hours early! Can't beat that. - The room overall is stylish and felt mostly clean - The view from our particular room was really great with a straight shot of the empire state building. Picture attached. - Price. For the location this hotel was a pretty good value The meh: - The rooms are small but that is to be expected in the city - The rooms are dark. Not an issue for us because we didn't spend much time in the room during the day, but if you anticipate spending a lot of time here you should know the rooms are very dark. - No minibar or amenities in the room (robe, slippers, water, etc.) The bad: - We were given an ADA room by surprise. Turned out the automatic door openers did not actually work. So it seems like the room was once an accessible room, but as soon as some of the accessible feature broke they just started using it as a standard room. Odd. - On our bathroom ceiling there was what I can only describe as a huge spit ball? Gross. Picture attached. - The cheapest shower curtain in the world. I don't think I could find something this cheap and flimsy even at Ikea. Picture attached. - No drain stopper for the tub to be found - Shoddy workmanship. It is a great value compared to other "luxury" hotels in the area, but I would not be ok with paying true luxury prices to stay here. Disclaimer: Only came to Hotel Hendricks for their bar, this review is based on the bar My coworkers and I were looking for a bar to go to. Fortunately, all the bars were full on the block so we came across this hotel. We got up to the rooftop and the views were gorgeous. The chairs were retro and very classic, the aesthetics were amazing. There were two bars that we could go to, so our group split up so we can get our drinks more quickly. This place has their own types of syrups and they were amazing. I was able to try a durian syrup in my cocktail and it was absolutely delicious. Upon arrival there were other guests that were having issues during check in. Booked a double room and upon arrival we were told that there weren't any available and were told we could either pay for another room or go through our booking site to get a refund which would take up two weeks. SAFETY CONCERN!!! Do not stay here as a solo female traveler. 1) When I checked in the bellman went behind the front desk to stare at the information the front desk agent was processing. If you work for hotels, you know that bellman should not have access to confidential guest info, especially when they're not bringing bags up to your room and another employee is already handling your check-in. 2) My room's fire alarm went off at 2am and the man trying to enter my room could not identify himself as an employee. This is a major safety concern as a single female traveling alone. Firefighters and cops came to assess the situation. I got no sleep at all that night and had to work the next day. 3) The way GM approached the situation had no empathy sending more men to my room in the morning vs. calling me first to give me a heads up as I was in my pajamas and they don't offer robes, which made me livid! 4) GM has not idea what he's doing, he continued to gaslight and rebutted with lies on my review on TripAdvisor. This hotel is SHADY and my room was dirty. However, cleanliness was the least of my concerns with this hotel. I've never experienced anything like this staying at a hotel ever. I immediately checked out the next morning and found another hotel nearby that was well lit, clean and SAFE! Women, please avoid this place at all costs. Yeah, issa 'no' from me, dawg. I think I may have stayed here too early. I don't know that HH is quite ready for the NYC hospitality big time. There were, simply, too many problems during my stay to safely/fairly/accurately state that it's a place at which you could/should spend time/money.* Where to start? At the beginning, I suppose. First things first: I didn't receive my two drink vouchers upon check-in. I didn't ask because I wanted to see if I *really* wasn't going to be given the ONE thing every guest receives at check-in. Nope. Not given. Noted. This is how we begin. I go to my room and... nope. This room isn't clean. Setting my bags down and starting the bed bug/everything else nasty check, I notice a dark, curly hair on the nightstand. Check, please. I didn't even need to look elsewhere. I mustered as much politeness as I could (I.was.struggling) and called down to the front desk. In addition to the nightstand hair, there was significant amountS of hair underneath the television. The hotel is pet-friendly. From that room, I was quick to assume that it wasn't clean-after-the-pet-friendly. The response I got from the front desk was brusque. At one point, I was asked 'What do you want me to do about it?' Wrong road. Wrong road. /porsha Surprisingly, I turned on my most saccharine Southern lilt and "suggested" that I be moved to another room. Rather than meeting me there, I was to come down to the front desk, get new keys and go to my new room. No porter. No apologies. All the work on me. Fine. Whatever. Get to the next room and... hair under the TV and long black hairS on the bathroom floor. Check the profile pic. Those bad boys didn't come from my noggin. Call back to the front desk. This time a manager comes up to the room. I show her the problems. She agrees and notes them. The head of house keeping comes to the room and she... sighs. She doesn't apologize. She doesn't act embarrassed. She's put out. See... no. This is not how this works in (nice) hotels, y'all. Again, I'm asked what I'd like. Again, this isn't how this works. Let me tell you how this works: many apologies from the management, an offer for drinks/dinner (on the spot), a request to chill out for a moment while an upgrade of upgrades is secured and made ready. And then another apology. That didn't happen. So, I southerned-up another request for a clean room. I was told to go wait at the top floor bad (drink on them! My two drink vouchers were still MIA) and they'd prepare a new room for me. Okay. Cool. I go upstairs to get a drink and... two of the drinks I want aren't available. Wha, now? Yep. A full bar was not so full.** I ordered a drink that *was* available and waited. An assistant manager found me and gave me my new room key. Okay. Cool. I finished my drink, went back to room #2, got my bags, went to room #3 and... no upgrade. Standard (SMALL) room. 'Whatever,' I think. I start my bug/hair check and stumble upon a toilet with paper and whatever else left inside. In my brand new cleaned room. I didn't have strength to call and fight. I barely had strength to kick myself for not reading the reviews close enough. Had I done so, I, likely, would have picked another hotel. This hotel wasn't truly vetted. I've been on this site for 12 years. I am well-versed in reading review subtext. I should have known better... and I was stuck at the hotel for six long nights. Oh boy. When people say the room is small, believe them. Like, really believe them. I traveled to SF multiple times a year for ten years. I've traveled many times to NYC. I've traveled in Europe. This was the smallest hotel room I've ever stayed in. It was uncomfortable. Adding to the discomfort, the room was impossibly dark. There is not adequate light in the room, thus the overwhelming gloom was ever-present. Additionally, the walls were very thin. My first night, I got no sleep (like, I did not rest) because someone was watching TV and I had the 'pleasure' of listening to it all night. Lastly, I had very poor cell reception in my room (T-Mobile). Now, I must say that I was on the 15th floor. Evidently, if you're on floor 17 and up, the room layout and light situation is significantly better. Good to know that I spent $2200+ to be two floors away from comfort... on the third try for a clean room. Awesome. HH is not ready for prime time. Hospitality (especially in certain markets) brings with it certain expectations. They were not met here. I don't think I was asking for anything unreasonable but even my lowered expectations were not met. I was not happy/comfortable here nor would I advise anyone I liked to stay here. These were six long first-world nights.*** *Let's hear it for slashes. Something about this review brought it out of me. **This was not the only time I tried to get a signature cocktail and was told it wasn't available. ***Nice points: comfy bed. Good location. This was the dirtiest hotel I've ever been to! Not even the carpet in the hallway was vacuumed. My fiancé and I had to switch rooms twice and both were equally disgusting with crumbs everywhere, broken window knobs and used toilets, and one even had a used eye contact in the shower. We ended up booking another hotel that night, but it took months for my fiancé to get his refund back. Just don't waste your time. What you see is not what you get. read more

BED BUGS, on Saturday 9/30 my wife and i have arrived to hotel Hendricks, it was a weekend getaway for her birthday, after a long way from NC to Newyork, and the room booked a month ahead, we have arrived at 6 pm, attempting to check in, we were told that there was no room ready, but there is a room at the 22nd floor that they can start the cleaning process, despite being exhausted and needing a shower and some rest, we said ok and we will get back, we have returned at 8: 30, and were told unfortunately the only room available is at the 17th floor and receptionist made it clear that even if we wanted the room that we booked( king size bed and empire stated view) we won't be able to because the hotel was fully booked, next day we came back in the afternoon to take a nap before heading out again and room was supposed to be cleaned, my wife was turning the pillow and found a bed bug moving (attached is a video) - spoke to manager his name was Bryan, didn't even apologize neither felt shocked about the bed bugs, only thing he said he can move us to another room or can give us a refund for the stay, - most of the hotels in the area are in same range so do yourself a favor and stay away from this place so you don't have to sanitize your clothes and luggage and take off your clothes before entering your house when you get back read more

What a great little gem in the middle of the big Apple ! The hotel is super sleek and contemporary with an edgy animal flare in the rooms. VERY clean ! Which I appreciate VERY much !! The staff was really friendly and welcoming. I noticed a lot of staff present and always in the elevator. There was this one woman that I saw on 3 occasions. She was so hip and friendly letting everyone know how good to be alive and ready for the day. Very positive. I wish I got her name to give her a shout out. She Always said good morning or afternoon and definitely a people person. I believe she was Spanish/latin but I really enjoyed her vibe. Thank you to whomever you are ! We met the GM in the elevator and was very nice as well. I liked how present the staff were ! The little lobby bar is cute. Chairs could be changed out as they're not that comfortable. The bar itself is really cool designed in pennies !! The staff at the bar were friendly and the hotel had given us two drink complimentary tickets on Friday while waiting for a friend to pop in. I highly recommend this place and the rooftop area is really chill and beautiful views. Service for lounge could be a little better but overall nice area ! My only suggestion for the room is a full length mirror (1503) and the bathroom door would stay open and requested a stopper from cleaning service that I had left a note on but didn't get. My Gf was in a room on the 17th floor and she had a full length mirror and no issues with the door. Other than that, can't wait to come back ! read more

Boutique hotels in the city can be iffy. Some beautiful. Some over-hyped. They all have flash, over-priced cocktails, and small rooms. Hotel Hendricks has all of that. Now, don't get me wrong. I'm not dissing the hotel. I'm simply saying that the New York City boutique hotel scene is known for these things. My two nights at the Hotel Hendricks were very nice. It has a wonderful location, a very nice rooftop bar, coat hooks throughout the room (which are often lacking in hotel rooms), a lovely decor, and comfortable bed. There are a few things that surprised me: - The rooftop bar of the Hotel Hendricks, while lovely, charges $28 for a Hendricks martini? You share a name. Do I really need to pay so much for your namesake liquor at 5:45pm on a weekday? - The bathroom fittings are beautiful and over-sized. One would thing the shower water pressure would be too. It was very disappointing given that most hotels in the city have amazing water pressure. I'm hoping this was an engineering issue that can be fixed. - The mirror over the sink is lit by a single sconce to the right. That means that you can see one side of your face, but the other remains a mystery. How ever did that lighting design get approved? It's a cardinal rule to have even lighting at the mirror and for a newly designed hotel to miss that seems strange. My suggestion is that they install a light-up makeup mirror to the left to make up for the lighting deficit. Bottom line: Will I go back? Sure. Will I go out of my way to stay there given the ample choices of boutique hotels in the city? No. Apparently, water pressure and lighting are two of my top criteria. Who knew? read more

Hotel Hendricks is a great spot to stay in the city. Easy access from Penn Station, definitely walkable. Quick hop over to Bryant park or Times square. The room itself was quite impressive. Bedding was comfy and everything was extremely clean upon arrival. This hotel has a roof top bar which is accessible through the same elevator as guests. We have two young girls so we did not actually get to go up to the bar as it is 21 or older only. The staff was great for any interaction. My only complaint would be the heating/AC. It did this weird dance of on AC/on heat to maintain whatever temperature you set the room for. So it would get very humid and all of the many mirrors would fog up at a moment's notice. Great price point for location and quality of room. read more

We just checked in ( 3 rooms) and the front desk here is the most pleasant around and very efficient. The room is perfect for two but I'm enjoying it all to myself. The size is perfect for even two guests. The layout and amenities are perfect. The bed and bathroom are fabulous. If I were to compare this hotel to another hotel or hotel brand, it's above a Hyatt House and just as nice or better than the Royalton on W 44 th. Just a note about the other hotels on this block, you won't find a better value or service than at the Hotel Hendricks. This will be my " go to" place when I am in the City. Firstly the bad: hotel is TINY, even for New York standards. There are only 2 elevators shared by everyone (including after work patrons just visiting the roof top bar) Other than that- it's super cute, clean, and very central location to train station. The staff are all very warm and welcoming and if you wake up early enough they have some coffee and pastries - first come first serve in the lobby area that are tasty! read more
