    Rooftop bar - Hendricks Hotel
    Vince M.

Pro's: - Excellent location in midtown Manhattan - Friendly staff - Comfortable bed - Awesome shower water pressure - Fairly quiet in the room at night Con's: - Upon check-in, found a used razor and hair tie in the shower - Only two elevators (both slow during busy times of the day) - Small room (just a small walkway between the wall and King-size bed) I did not try the onsite coffee shop/bar or restaurant, but both are available. There is also a rooftop bar that I did try my last evening - it had great views, but was nothing special. I would stay at his hotel again, as the location was great for me. The staff was friendly and efficient and I had no issues during my 4 night stay.

I've stayed here a few times now and without issue! Yes, the rooms are typically very small but they've always been clean, cozy with all of the basic needs. The hotel lobby is narrow, but there is a little bar/cafe there which makes it super convenient if you're running out in the morning and would like to grab a latter or cup of coffee on the way out. They also have a stunning rooftop bar! Overall, the rates are generally decent and the location is very convenient so those two factors are typically what influence my decision to stay here. If you're planning a trip to NYC where you will be busy and out of the room quite a bit, I would definitely recommend. But if you're looking for a hotel with a little more comfort and amenities to enjoy on-site, it may not be the best fit. But it'll get the job done if you need just the basics!

Small is OK, but this was the darkest hote room I have ever stayed in. Flash from the phone makes it appear brighter.

First the positives: Hotel Hendricks is conveniently located in the heart of Manhattan, and just a block or so from Bryant Park. The nightly rate for a queen bed wasn't bad, and the bed did have both outlets and USB ports on each side. Now the negatives: Tiny room. Bad water pressure. Housekeeping doesn't know how to clean sinks or toilets (gross). But what ruined the stay for me was the rudest guest relations experience I have ever had at any hotel. I was argued with regarding my request for an emailed receipt. The two men behind the front desk were flip, arrogant and argumentative for absolutely no reason. Purely because of the service I received, I will not return to the Hotel Hendricks. I recommend others not stay here as well unless customer service is not a concern. And if so, check the bathroom first at least.

    Comfort and style...quiet!

It's my first time in NY and you all made it such a memorable experience. Loved the service here. Anthony, Aj, Eugene and Mary...Thank you all for your kindness and hospitality. We flew in from LA to visit family, unfortunately as life does, it threw us a curve ball. Covid reared its head and we were unable to stay with our family members as they were quarantining. The hotel took great care of us extended our stay without any problems. The location is perfect to access some fantastic NY landmarks and restaurants.

View from rooftop bar - definitely worth checking out!

My friends and I really wanted to give this place a chance. Since reviews seemed decent, location and price were great attractive features for us. After our stay... we'd describe this as trying to be like a Japanese hotel, but on a budget. And largely failing at it. We stayed here for 3 nights. Rooms are small but we expected it to be since it was in the middle of the city where space is at a $$ premium. Similar to what we experienced staying in Tokyo. Definitely only good for 2 people max per room. Ideally a couple since the bathroom isn't completely private. Comes with in room fridge, safe, closet with hangers, bathroom amenities, usb charging ports. Ironing board is tiny and only a few inches in height. Bedside lights are harsh and too bright like flashlights, unusable. One big light hanging above bed which was a bit nerve racking. One chair. One strip of desk table. No rack to put luggage on. The room set up is terrible and doesn't make good use of the available space and furniture placing. We could barely fit and open both our Carry on luggage in the room comfortably. We had to rearrange some furniture in the room to make better use of the space. The room is also very dark using the lighting provided. So dim that it was hard to see clearly in certain areas. We kept the curtains closed since it's so close to Nextdoor buildings that they can probably see in. Many things in the room were broken or malfunctioning. The bathroom door is a huge piece of glass on hinges. The glass was not set up properly, did not move smoothly. The glass kept loudly scraping on the bathroom floor and didn't seem safe to keep opening/closing. Also we could not keep the door open (our friend's room did now have an issue), we had to prop it open with hangers we found in the room. Most importantly, I highly doubted the cleanliness of the room. When we arrived, there was a wet dirty towel already in the shower. We were missing our in room "do not disturb" door tag. There was some trash underneath the bedside table. Housekeeping just comes in daily to make the bed, sheets are not changed until the 4th day? 2 elevators available. Glass walls on elevators were cracked and damaged. Location is great though, located near k-town where there is plenty of food options to choose from. Close to Bryant Park, Times Square, 30 Rock - all a short walk away. Easy access to subway station. Very convenient. Rooftop bar is open Tuesday to Saturday evening. Indoor and outdoor areas to socialize and take in the night time city views. Worth it to go up and take a look.

Everything about my stay was perfect. Upon my arrival, staff at the front desk were very friendly. They held my bags meanwhile my room was being prepared and I went to explore the city. When I returned, my room was ready and it was spotless. I'm the type of person to wipe the bathroom and common areas down with a Lysol wipe but there was nothing to wipe down. The views from my king Empire State room were spectacular! Black out curtains and the room being sound proof was a plus. The bed and pillows are very comfortable. I loved that the hotel provided a robe and flip flops during the stay. It was a nice touch. Wifi works perfectly. My room included a refrigerator as well. The rooftop bar has two floors, one 369 degree indoor rooftop bar with views to the Empire State and the rest of the city, and another outdoor rooftop bar with 180 degree view to the Empire State. I highly recommend trying the blood orange mule, it's delicious! Go during happy hour too! The hotel's location is very central. It's on 38tb street between Broadway and Fashion Ave. There are many subway stations just a few minutes away. There's a coffee shop across the street and various places to eat! I will definitely be staying here when I return to NY! Thanks for the fantastic hospitality Hotel Hendricks and staff!

I stayed here this past weekend during a quick trip to the city and enjoyed my stay. I had a comfortable nights sleep, and the staff was great. The hotel/room was clean, and is in close proximity to Grand Central. There's a restaurant in the lobby and a cute rooftop bar with awesome night views of the city and Empire State Building. Overall I was very satisfied with my stay and would return.

Traveling during the holidays can be hectic, but the staff at the Park Hyatt made everything feel effortless. Every interaction -- from the front desk to housekeeping to the concierge -- was filled with genuine kindness, patience, and warmth. It was clear they weren't just doing their jobs; they truly cared about making our holiday special. The hotel itself is stunningly elegant yet incredibly comfortable. After long walks through Central Park, returning to our room felt like stepping into a peaceful retreat. The spaciousness, thoughtful details, and quiet luxury made it easy for our family to relax, laugh, and simply be together -- which is what the holidays are really about. We had our first breakfast in New York at the hotel's "the living room" which is located in the lobby. The restaurant is absolutely beautiful with modern decor and stunning 30 foot ceilings. We arrived at 7am as the restaurant just opened and Kamil greeted us with a warm genuine smile. We've stayed at 5 different Park Hyatts in the past 5 years (Kyoto being the most recent) and no one has made us feel as special as Kamil. He has the unique gift of hospitality. He went out of his way to treat us like family and made us feel very special. All of his small gestures, friendly smiles, and thoughtful attention to detail, turned simple moments into special memories. During a season meant for connection and joy, the Park Hyatt delivered both in abundance. Spending Christmas in New York is always special, but spending it at the Park Hyatt New York elevated the experience beyond anything we could have imagined. Our days were spent with full hearts, lasting memories, and deep gratitude for a team that understands true hospitality. This is a place we will return to -- not just for the luxury, but for the people who made us feel so genuinely at home during the most meaningful time of year.

Unfortunately, due to geopolitical instability impacting our return route through Amman and the broader Persian Gulf region, our travel plans became unworkable. I contacted multiple hotels involved in our itinerary, and every one of them demonstrated professionalism and understanding by waiving cancellation fees given the circumstances--including other Marriott properties and the Ritz-Carlton. This property, however, took a completely different approach. I spoke with Samir in the reservations department. He refused to provide any refund. We went back and forth multiple times, and each time he introduced a new justification. At one point, he claimed the U.S. State Department had not advised against travel to the Persian Gulf and that any warning had expired on March 31. I provided evidence that there was no expiration date, yet he continued to deny the request. I also explained that other Marriott properties and Ritz-Carlton locations had already issued full refunds under the same circumstances. Despite this, he continued to refuse any accommodation. Only after I told him I would be leaving a review about my experience did he offer a future credit. That is not a practical solution when I have no certainty of returning to Morocco. I then requested that a manager follow up with me. No one ever did. Communication stopped entirely. This response reflects a lack of flexibility, accountability, and basic customer consideration--especially when compared to how other properties under the Marriott International brand handled the exact same situation. As a result, I had to absorb the financial loss and cancel the reservation. Based on this experience, I recommend considering alternative accommodations that demonstrate greater responsiveness and professionalism when dealing with legitimate, unforeseen global disruptions.

Bonus-it was clean!! The iPad system to control the room is clever: manage the thermostat, tv, blinds/shades and lights. It takes a minute for the iPad to connect (not sure if it's a wifi issue or that these iPads are an older model). Speaking of the thermostat, it kinda worked. I think it shuts off or scales back when there's no movement in the room. I had a hard time getting it cooled down to a good temperature, so I didn't sleep as well as I would have liked. The bed is very comfortable, though...and even with the small space, there are plenty of places to hang clothes and store items. Several outlets and USB charging stations available as well. There aren't any washcloths - just hand/body towels... and it's up to you if you want to have your room lightly cleaned or fully turned over. (See your iPad to make that option). There was only one elevator working, so it could take a few minutes to get your lift up or down. The staff that we engaged with were great. Check in and out were super easy. The lobby is pretty cool and hip. There's a small rooftop bar/lounge and a nice sized food/canteen area in the lobby. The location is outstanding. 50th just off 8th Ave...right in the heart of Times Square and walking distance to many other destinations. I would stay here in the future...2-3 nights is perfect. This spot is super centrally located, and during NYFW was an affordable, clean, and hip spot to stay for a few days. I am familiar with CitizenM as I have been to their hotel bars in their Miami locations, but had never stayed at one. I truly enjoyed my experience here. From check in to ordering wine or coffee at the bar, to the room, it was all lovely. I will say, the room is quite small. But truly, what do you need a big room for when you're going to be exploring NYC all day? The bed we got was a king, and dare I say it was one of the most comfortable hotel beds I've ever slept in. The room is set up a bit like a studio, with two little closets which made it easy to organize and unpack, a small desk, and a vanity in the common area. The toilet and shower are together in what kind of looks like a spaceship capsule in the middle of the room. One cool thing is how high tech this hotel is - you have an ipad that controls everything in the room from the room temp, your blinds, to the TV, to connecting your devices to the TV to stream music, etc. In the lobby bar you can opt in for hotel breakfast buffet, but instead we would just grab coffees as we were getting ready. Grace at the bar was super friendly, as was all of the staff. My one area for improvement is the elevator. We received a notice that one of the three elevators was broken during our stay and every time we would get on the elevator it would take us multiple floors up before going down. Not the worst thing in the world, but just annoying if you're in a rush to get somewhere. If you are looking for an affordable, centrally located hotel to stay with a friendly staff this hotel is your spot. You have multiple subway stations within a 1-2 minute walk which can easily get you to any neighborhood you want to go during your stay. Would definitely return!

Prime location! Modern, spacious rooms (for the city)!…read more The elevators though.... Oy. I stayed at this hotel over the New Years holiday and was thrilled to be so close to Madison Square Garden and Times Square. As was expected, check in was a bit chaotic given the time of year. The ground floor entrance was PACKED with luggage on first arrival. After weaving our way through, we located the check-in desk on the 5th or 6th floor. Tons of people but adequate seating to wait for our room to be ready. An upper floor meant having to figure out their dreaded elevator system. It left something to be desired, to say the least. With only 3 elevators that service the whole of the hotel, and a 4th that goes who knows where, it was almost always a lengthy struggle to catch one. No buttons on the interior of the carriage, all elevators were called with a touchscreen device that seemingly tried to pack as many people as possible into one small space, leaving many behind that couldn't fit, before directing the passengers to another elevator to repeat the whole process over again. One day was so bad, it was actually preferable to walk up the stairs to the 14th floor. Woof. The room itself was wonderful. Spacious, with 2 beds. Very clean. Beautiful view of the city and the arena next door. Great way to catch the sun set. Walk in shower with both an overhead and handheld shower attachment. Great lighting. Shower had heavily frosted glass that faced the bedroom area so be prepared for your silhouette to be on full display for anyone you may be rooming with. Nice sized closet, safe, and mini fridge. Big flat screen television. Window shade worked very well to block out the light if you're hoping to sleep in late. Walls can be a bit thin, especially if you have a rowdy bunch of kids right next door as we did. Aside from the elevators, the perks far outweighed the usual peskier elements (e.g., noise, etc.) one encounters when staying away from home. Why is this hotel offering a room rate price with breakfast when there is no restaurant for breakfast?! They told me they had bagged breakfast, which was always gone and coffee was all gone too. Took over 10 minutes to wait for new coffee to arrive. Renovation work bright and early at 8am. I was offered loyalty points for compensation by the manager, Delanie, and these points never showed up. I was also mistakenly charged for drinking their water bottles when I didn't even touch those bottles. They never even told me that I was going to be charged after checking out. I just saw a random extra charge on my credit card. The manager, Delanie, had said this would be refunded, but never saw this refund come through just like the loyalty points.
