My heart breaks that this is the only option in Salado for day care. The owner is rude to her customers who don't agree with her out-of-pocket rules and expectations from the customers. There have been many instances where I have walked in to pick him up, and have seen them yell, in his face, about things he cannot help, (he is special needs) including messing with his shirt, and not keeping his shoes on. (He was FIVE at the time). They would separate him from the rest of the kids to punish him, which is something he still doesn't understand. Not qualified to handle kids with disabilities. Totally unacceptable, unethical, and unprofessional. If you love your child, please find an alternative place to keep them. read more

My children have attended The Play Yard for the past 3 years. I have a 7 month old and a 3 yr old. They do a wonderful job and keep busy with so many fun activities. My 3 yr old loves it there. He has learned so much with his vocabulary and counting! It is a blessing to have a place to have my children where I can trust the staff and feel comfortable. read more

Our daughter has been going to TPY for a couple of years now and we couldn't ask for a better place for her to learn and grow. The owner and teachers really care about the kids and it shows. Our daughter LOVES going to school every day. She goes on and on after we pick her up about all the fun she had and what she learned. We are very blessed to be a part of such a wonderful daycare. Where do I begin? The owner is very lazy and disrespectful and she allows her employees to do the same. When I enrolled my son at the Play Yard. I immediately had problems with them. The "owner/manager" was never there and my son's teacher came in after I dropped him off and left before I could pick him up. Therefore, any problems I needed addressed I left with random employees (most I had never met and most had inappropriate clothes on for a daycare). Anything I dropped off for my son (clothes, food, diapers, etc) would go missing and the teachers would blame me. He often came home with clothes/shoes inside out or completely backwards. Their excuse was that they were letting him be independent... but aren't you supposed to teach them right from wrong? The final straw was when I dropped him off for a few hours in the morning (7am) in a fresh, clean diaper and I picked him up at 11 and he was running around in the same diaper with his clothes completely soaked (that's 4 hours without a diaper change)! I explained to the owner that I didn't feel comfortable leaving my child there and would be withdrawing my son. She began arguing with me and even had her employees join in (wtf?). Now my son is at the kids zone in Jarrel and even though it is not on my way to work, it is totally worth it! Every time I walk in I am greeted with a smile and even the teachers I don't know, know my name. I had the privilege of having my child cared for by The Play Yard staff for four years. The staff is wonderful and really got to know my child and help him learn in the best ways during his formidable years. The Play Yard is a Christian-based center which helped support the good moral values and good choices we were developing with him at home. My child is too old at this point to attend, but if we had another child we would not hesitate one bit to bring him/her to The Play Yard for childcare. The Play Yard has two locations. One for infants and another for older kids. I have one at both locations. As a parent, you always want to make the right decisions for your kids and from the moment I took a tour at The Play Yard, I knew I had made the right choice. I LOVE all of the staff at both locations. There is NEVER any question or doubt about the love and attentions they give to the children. They really take the time to educate the kids and still have time for fun! I wish I could give more than 5 stars! read more
